This, like so many other "found item restoration" videos, is totally faked. It's basically done in reverse. They start out with a working product, film it working, then disassemble it, and film the reassembly. Finally, they cover it in mud, and put it out in the field and film the discovery and cleanup scenes. This one was really laughable. You don't hose down electronics like that without first disassembling them. The speakers, LCD, and many other parts would not survive that. Also soaking the speakers in water would distroy the cones, which are paper. The random checks on the circuit board with an ohmmeter without any schematic to refer to, and the random re-soldering would not fool anyone who understands electronic repair.

You know you're dealing with a professional when he uses the pavement as his work bench, hoses the whole thing down with tap water including all the electronics, and just spray paints the whole thing (including the underside of the speakers that you'll never see for some reason...) without any sanding or primer like the paint will magically stay on there! This guy is a true professional ...magician!

That's not what he was doing. He was just checking to see if the contacts to the keys are still connected to the board (they're printed on with carbon paste and if they're bad you can fix them with windshield heater repair compound or conductive paint.) How do I know? I've done it a dozen or so times, myself. Also, while I wouldn't vouch for the longevity of cheap speakers submerged in water (if the enamel on the internal coil is bad anywhere, it'll corrode out, the glue that holds the wires to the cone might weaken, etc.) they're electromechanical devices. They don't go instantly bad from getting wet.

As an engineer you should probably see it's recorded in reverse. They start with a second hand device, clean the parts that were already clean, then make it dirty and clean it again. They just playback the thing in reverse. All devices finally end up in the water near his home for the first scene.

Every time I ride to the store I go over a bridge and I see this Yamaha CS-80 forty feet below in the saltwater. Got her home and restored it 8 hours later. All the delicate parts were happy that it was back in the studio and all was beautiful. I went to the hardware store but really there was nothing special it needed so I got myself some taco bell and went home.

While it might raise questions about its authenticity, there is a substantial amount of effort being put into all the projects... and the individuals involved appear to be quite knowledgeable. I love to see their dedication to each of the projects. I suspect that some of the components are new and not restored. Electronic devices don't fare well with water... However, it's genuinely enjoyable to watch!!
