Honestly, the "Ask" feature in CZcams has been super helpful when it comes down to getting the bullet points in the video. When I don't have 10-15 minutes to watch the video, I'll just go and hit the "Ask" button and it gives me the bullet points from 1 through 10 and it gives me everything I need to know so it's super helpful. It's not taken acting away from the publishers content in my opinion but it just summarizes it and it makes it super helpful when you don't have time to watch or listen to a 20-30 minute video.A viewer just simply gets all the bullet points, then you go about your day. That's what makes it more helpful, but I've been having the "Ask" feature on my subscription with CZcams for about probably about a month now. Super reliable, super helpful.

Totally get it! Very useful for the right videos.

These new devices are really causing an early stir, regardless of the reviews. They are really being covered in depth with scrutiny that we've sort of come to expect. I welcome all of it. Let's see (however early) where the next iterations take us.

What is not talked about is battery life of the R1. How long does it take in hours to drain the battery? Of course this depends on what all you're doing on the device. I'm in R6 batch and quite excited.

That's a good point. I bet we start hearing about that real soon with all the devices starting to get seeded.

Looks like a general purpose pokedex, which I think was a design choice made on purpose. Love it. What I want to see is way more automation with LAM 1.5, it could be it just connecting what it can already do, to do more with it. I’d find it very useful if it could not just create/modify a spreadsheet from a picture, but continue to modify it afterwards on Google sheets. Another thing that I think is actually on their roadmap is Shopping, which would be huge. Pointing at things to buy them is something I’ve wanted all my life, specifically with regard to wardrobe in movies/TV shows and random products I encounter in the world.

The shopping use case would be huge, agree!

Glasses is not the way to go. And glasses tend to break and disappear. There’s also not a one-size fits all. The form factor Rabbit (TE) decided on is key to this great first half step out of the “smartphone” bait’n switch world into the AI realm aka, for now, a form of independence from “tech” we very much need. The fun factor works for Rabbit and that’s important. Have fun!

Yeah true, this is designed to LOOK like a fun device. Curious to know if the fun is enough to create habits.

@@Techsploder At 199 it doesn't have to do much more than to inspire and create community and better culture (similar to the iphone and the app store). The rest will follow.

I think the big use case of this over a smart phone is where it’s easier.
Playing a song is probably the most obvious early example.
It’s more effort to get a song going on Spotify than it is via rabbit. So one would grab it for that.
If it can build enough of them where it’s easier to use this over a smart phone it will cut out a market.
But to me this has massive use cases for people with disabilities.
Read this page for me, what do you see etc.
Hopefully they plug this into home assistance so could then control and entire home via it

Where is the user data being saved on this device? With the legitimate fears around TikTok do we know anything about Rabbit R1 as a company?
Where did they get their funding?

    • @Techsploder
      @Techsploder  Před měsícem

HQ in LA, funding by Khosla Ventures. Some data processed on device, some sent to Perplexity or other LLMs for query tasks.

    • @Techsploder

Again it all goes back to proving its worth as a standalone device separated from the things we're already used to using. And I feel like that's a big uphill climb to overcome.

Who are the people behind Iyo Audio? Do we even know? In addition to being just a general tech nerd, I'm also somewhat of an audiophile so I typically only purchase audio products from well-respected, established manufacturers.
I'm broke right now, but even if I wasn't, I'm not going to spend that kind of money on headphones (AI or no AI) from some no-name company that employs mystery engineers.

Sorry, but this Rabbit unit is nothing more than a "software package with a screen, and camera unit." I could just as easily develop a similar "software package" install to my phone and do identically the same thing. The AI engine could easily feed the information to my phone while using that specific software.. I could utilize a hot button on my phone to default and open that software if I so wished. Sorry but android and Apple will just look at the merits of this Rabbit unit take the best and trash the rest, I suppose the question is, carry two units or wait for inevitably phone software to accomplish the same thing.

You could be on to something! I think really though the only way to know is to try out some of these ideas and see what's there. Maybe nothing. But without testing products like these we will never know!

Sorry, just being honest. No need to develop a device.... Just similar software driving your device. The smartphone is the device.

I'm so disappointed with rabbit R1 first off they were supposed to start shipping in march, now there saying June or July and even then they are saying what I consider 50% of there services won't be available at launch, including all of the LAM features they showed off at CES, with no date of when thos features will be released
so basically it's an LLM that will be available at launch
, our phones already do that like don't launch a product like that unless your flagship intention for the device works,
This is going to be a very very hard sale for the company esp if Apple releases anything significant at wwdc.
I feel like the people that bought that pre ordered device were bamboozled and they should have been more honest about where they were at with R&D before they took pre-orders on the device

    • @Techsploder
      @Techsploder  Před měsícem +1

I'm curious about this as well. But I will say, as someone who bought the rabbit r1 on pre-order shortly after the perplexity feature was announced, I've been using and loving perplexity ever since. So from my perspective, I bought a Year's worth of perplexity, and then I also happen to get this potentially new and interesting AI hardware device to check out in the near future. When I think of it that way, I'm very satisfied.

@@Techsploder I hear you and I’m glad you are satisfied with using perplexity but you can use perplexity for free and at the very most their most progressive system for 20 a month , you don’t need the device to do that , but the context of my comment was that they sold it as being able to do the things they showed in LAM at CES , this whole culture of buying products based on a statement of what they think they will be able to do In the future has limits you got people to buy the device because of its LAM features not is LLM features let’s be honest ,
And your headed for a PR nightmare if you go the humane pin route cause at launch they are going to expose all of this , the best thing it has going for it is that it’s relatively cheap but 90 % of what, it can do now can be done on co pilot right from the action button on the I phone ,
Don’t get me wrong I love the innovation I love where they are headed but don’t sell a product who’s main purpose is not available yet that’s like me selling you a car but I’ll deliver the transmission to you later , when I’m not sure yet but it’s the best transmission ever just give me some time , look you can still use the radio and sit in it, all the electronics work and it’s really pretty. I don’t think you would ever do that but with these new electronic gadgets we’re giving them a pass to do just that , I’m glad the innovation is happening excited even but I also know we need to call a spade a spade and keep these companies honest at the same time

@@jjjurgensen454 All very fair points! Believe me, as much as I don't want to admit it, I'm prepared to be let down when I get mine. I say that while also being excited to give it a real shot. At the end of the day, I want technology to deliver on its promises. We shall see.
