    Actually the first diy video i've seen here i find interesting, because despite a diy blower is not really an original thing, making the parts in this video was. It's a nice idea to use these cans, and finally someone who is not just hot-glueing everything together, but making measures, using a dremel properly, and finally knows how to solder nicely. It was interesting to watch, respect!

    When you solder tin or any large metal surfaces you could use some better preparation of the surface. Diluted HCl(hydrochloric acid) does very good job as a primer I've used it to make leak proof fuel tanks for model planes out of tin. Some rust converters can do a good job too. You will spend a lot less solder and you won't need the resin filed one.

    Beautifully made. I don't have the tool to cut out the air inlet hole. I'd also like to cover the hole with a mesh to keep fingers safe.
    I presume making this in metal knackers the scissors and wood working bits quite quickly though.

    Aren't the fan blades backwards compared to where the outlet is? It still works, of course, but I would think it would be more powerful with the blades reversed.

    • @tyromewilliams
      @tyromewilliams Před 7 lety +19

      That is an excellent point. Unfortunately for smaller motors having backwards fins, "Backward curved" reduces some of the static pressure involved with pushing the air. A forward facing fin, "forward curved" while it is efficient it is more prone to be sensitive to particulates that make slow it down due to friction such as air debris if anything got sucked into the intake side. "Radial fin," straight fins at 90 degrees are great against particulates and pressure which is why they are used in vacuums, but since this is a blower and not a vacuum, for that size motor forward curved would probably be more suitable...

    • @cb-vi3he
      @cb-vi3he Před 6 lety +1

      Uh no, you need to google fluid dynamics and learn how air works like water. The blades can be straight because it's impelling it towards one exit. One entrance > One exit. Imagine you're paddling your boat, except it's sitting on air instead of water.

    • @darkracer1252
      @darkracer1252 Před 6 lety +3

      the whole blade design is wrong. for example the inside of the fins extend past the centre. they should be above centre.
      no they are not incorrectly curved as long as it rotated clockwise. if it rotates counter clockwise it would be fighting it's own centripical force. lowering the airpressure

    If you curved the fins the opposite way you would've got way more air movement out of it. They should be scooping the air and forcing it through the exhaust rather than pushing through the air. Think of it like a turbo. The compressor wheel scoops air and forces it through the system increasing the velocity of the air going into your engine.
