- This fault code is actually very simple, it simply means the the DPF filters inside the One Box have reached their limit and require maintenance. They must be removed, inspected, baked and cleaned.
Detroit recommends to have the DPF filters exchanged with new or Reman, this of course would make the cost go up. But you always have the option of have the DPF filters baked and cleaned.
Once the filters are cleaned and ready, it does require:
2 NEW EXHAUST CLAMPS Part Number DDE A0004902241.
10 clips
10 bolts or screws
I personally prefer to remove the complete One Box from the truck, this allows for easier access to the DPF filters.
You will need the DDDL software in order to input the DPF serial numbers and reset the fault code. - Auta a dopravní prostředky

Hola una pregunta..cuando un dd15 ases la regeneration y las temperatura es pareja a 750..y en el scanner no ay actividad de fuel doser inyection...y ya pusieron nuevos filtros..pero no ay inyeccion de disel en el sistema. Para que la temperatura suva...que segurencia me pudes dar por favor?

It means the DPF needs to be serviced. Detroit used to recommend bake and cleaning but they have changed their service recommendations to replacing the DPF filters (applies to One Box). If you have the old style filter you can bake and clean.
Hey quick question what happen if you can’t find the serial number on the DPF filters how can I clean out the system on the computer without it?
Most of the filters start with the same serial number sequence. You can literally input any number , just start them with SHM124******* the color chord from red to green, then input the next numbers. Then hit save. This will reset the ash counter

Dog efficiently could be the DPF themselves that are allowing soot to pass through or the One Box itself it letting soot through.

I have spn 3720 fail 15. Will this prevent a manual regen? I can't manually regen. My check engine is on and on a recent trip my MIL for the after treatment system also came on and I was sweating bullets thinking I was going to be derated.
I see to fix the 3720 check engine you need 2 serial numbers. Is there any way to get around this? Do regular dpf cleaning shops have these serial numbers? Do they get them only when they send the filters off to be officially baked and cleaned?
Local freightliner dealer wants 2200 for remanufactured filters or I can pay about 1200 for a bake and clean in the New Orleans area, any advice?
The DPF serial numbers are actually on the DPF’s. Every DPF will have its own serial number.
To be honest the numbers really don’t matter. This is just to reset the Ash Clean Request.
There is no way to avoid the code from coming on. This is a calculated process with other MCM and ACM. It usually comes on after 200k miles (more or less).
Think of it as normal maintenance. They can be bake and cleaned. Although Detroit now says you have to replace them with new DPF’s. Not sure how about that

@@antoneugen1 once the light goes on, there is still time. However it is letting you know filters are reaching end of service life before they need to be serviced or replaced.
@@antoneugen1 very hard to say, if you are trying to make it home you should be fine. The idea is to not damage the One Box because the DPF’s are full and need to be serviced. I have seen guys push it a cause a derate
Once the check engine comes on, hold long can I drive until it needs to be changed?
Good question, there is no real limit except that you want to have it done asap because both DPF have reached their limit and you want to prevent any damage to the filters or One Box.
my 2015 cascadia has 490k on it, I've never had to preform a regen on it, and I've never noticed it doing a passive regen, is this normal?
yesterday check engine / spn code 3720 appeared, I'm about 1500 miles from home, is it ok to get it back to Fontana, ca, any recommendations where to take it to service it out in the I E? thanx in advance
You should be fine getting back to Fontana. Just make sure you get it taken care of. Most guys will try make another trip and then service the DPF.
Your truck is performing the parked regen while you are driving.
I don’t know anyone in the IE. Try looking up a shop that has been around. That would be your best bet.

Quick question. What do you think about washing your DOC and DPF. Will it cause any engine damage just wanna get your thoughts about it.
The only issue that comes to my mind is if the DOC and DPF are not dried out properly then when you go to do a regen the water turns into steams and May cause damage internally. This was something that was discussed a after treatment class I took some years ago.

Im in a 2023 Freightliner Cascadia. The 3720 RMI 15 code active on my truck, but im only at 54,000 Miles on the truck? How is that possible? Does it really need new DPF filters at 54k miles? If so that is pretty sad.

You can bake them or exchange them. Detroit recommends exchange

That code can be intake pressure sensor, EGR pressure sensor (Delta P sensor), could be a CAC issue, turbo issue.
There are many things to check. But start with the sensors or Delta P sensor and the Venturi pipe

How long can you drive your truck like that once the fault code becomes active ? Will it make your truck derate?
The idea is to have it serviced asap. Also, you want to prevent any damage to the One Box.
Not sure the how many miles you can drive before you have any issues. But you won’t get a derate when the CEL comes on.

I just got a new one box installed. I have a 2013 freightliner cascadia with the eap 10 emissions. what can I do to make the one box last me as long as possible?
Regular maintenance (oil changes, fuel filter changes, and air filter change).
Use good quality diesel (clean, not that cheap cloudy diesel).
Use clean quality DEF in the jug not the pump.
Valve adjustments on a regular basis.
Try not to idle for extended periods poor duty cycle is number one cause of one box failure

100,000 miles
250,000 miles then at
500,00 miles.
But I say every 100,000 miles.
It is something quick and easy that can be done in a day. Just remember engine has to be cold.
I still have the spn 1323 fmi 31 fuel system problem detected and I have had 3 over heads do this this light has been coming on and going off for over a year now can you give me some ideas
Check your CAM lobes, it may be possible that it may have moved.
When the overhead was done, how tight were the valves?
Also, have your mechanic perform a cylinder cut out test to help determine the cylinder or injector misfire.

The sooner the better. This means they have the maximum amount. It all depends on how many miles you drive and a few other factors.

Difficult to say how long, the idea behind the reminder is to service the DPF system to prevent any damage to the One Box. The sooner the better.
You can have the filters baked and cleaned or replace them with Reman or New units. Detroit recommends to have them exchanged.

Hi pedro i have 2010 cascadia with deleted dpf but the other a guy plug his computer on my truck from there on, i have few new codes and thi is one of them no check light or anything like that, do i need a software calibration and since is deleted can i drive like that ?
A delete can be complicated, there shouldn’t be any active fault codes when it comes to the after treatment since it was deleted. I say drive the truck or take it back to shop or person that did the delete so he can make sure it was done correctly.

The One Box filters? Depends on the year, the newer DPF’s are on a nationwide back order.

The code logged 61/3720/15 (SA/SPN/FMI) Indicates Diesel Particulate Filter Ash Clean Request is Present
Diesel Particulate Filter(s) are full of ash and need to be replaced. Do Not clear code without servicing the DPF(s) as further damage can occur to other exhaust Aftertreatment components.
@@bekkam7900 this means your DPF filters need to be removed, baked and cleaned or replaced with exchange DPF filters (might be on back order).
You definitely do not want to simply reset the Ash Clean Request without servicing the One Box. That will cause One Box damage.
What if it was 85 percent how much time would it take for it to become 100 percent?
Great question, sometimes it can take almost 2 hours to reach the 0.92 threshold.
Where do you get the serial numbers from ?
On each DPF you will find a serial number. Should start with 124xxxxx
How long you can drive with them clogged?
Typically you want them serviced ASAP, when the notification or the CEL comes up you are at 90%
So it really depends on how much you drive. The idea is to avoid any damage to the One Box and other components.

Well, that is a good question. The ash clean request is due to the DPF maintenance that is monitored by the MCM, ACM. The truck can still perform a successful regen even though the ash request light is on.

Plus the def inducement light on, derate stop light, ect
But this is the only code I have. And it derate me. Soot level low, runs regen perfectly without throwing any other codes. Engine working perfectly before derate. So I’m derated because Freightliner is SUGGESTING I change out the filters……. ??I don’t get it.

Hi friend I'm really confused. I'm getting the 3720 code and get this... I just had my DPF and DOC cleaned 25000 miles ago. They were on great shape and only needed to be blown out. Any idea what else could be causing this code to come up??
I have to ask, when the filters were cleaned. Did the shop reset the DPF ash accumulate?
They have to use the DDDL software in order to reset.
@@CarlosDieselElectric hi Pedro thanks for responding. My DPF and DOC were not re and re at a shop. I re and re'd them myself... when they were done they used the needle test. Filters were pretty good but they blew some compressed air through them anyway and got them back to about 93%. So I guess I have to have my ash accumulator reset... Yes?

@@jesusm9529 la luz sólida es Funcionamiento defectuoso del sistema del filtro. Normalmente el código se queda en la memoria y no se borra aunque se apaga la luz.

The short answer is Yes. definitely not recommended, the DPF has reached the end of its service life and needs to be replaced with a factory DPF or baked. The factory now recommends to have the DPF (both) replaced instead of being baked.
Driving with the DPF at its maximum will and can comprise the One Box.

Dont bake. do a liquid clean if you dont buy new ones. Just buy new one
