National Geographic storytellers Kevin Fedarko and Pete McBride teamed up to thru-hike the 800 mile-long interior rim of the Grand Canyon in 2016, a feat that has been accomplished by fewer people than have walked on the moon. They took a break from skiing at Aspen Mountain to discuss their collaboration around visual storytelling and the written word, as well as their efforts to raise awareness about the development projects threatening the Grand Canyon.
