Huge thanks to the national park service!!! Selflessly rescuing people in GC for decades!!! Their work is truly heroic.
💚💛
What a lucky young man. It doesn't appear that he was acting irresponsibly. I hope he will use this gift of life to grow into a useful adult, living with caring being the prime directive.
Hanging on with one hand from a hundred foot fall he ended up taking? Pretty irresponsible
How about all humans be like that why should he be the one?
Great point. I think he'll do something great with his life and help others
Too close = Irresponsible. Especially at the frickin GRAND CANYON.
OUCH😱 Someone was looking out for him to survive that harrowing fall. Simply miraculous.
Our Heavenly Father 😊
Truth be told.
Such a lucky boy and he is also, clearly, a very bright, articulate kid! What a story to tell for years to come! Talking to grandkids 60 years from now. "Did I ever tell you about the time I fell 100 feet into the Grand Canyon!" 😊 What doesn't kill you makes for a good story!
Nothing to be proud of. Have you ever been to Bright angel point? It's fenced. He fell 100 ft because he was being a moron.
@@johnc3525that rail was too short to protect anyone. You act like you think he climbed over it and is lying, but you don't know anything more than what's reported.
They’ll say “you don’t have to we watched a really old video from some old show”
Not only is he lucky to be alive, he's lucky he's not paralyzed!!!
Lol this kids is funny, his shirt says “I do my own stunts” 😂 legend
So thankful that this young man survived! Sending much love his way for a continued recovery. Thank the Lord!
Amen, thank God!!
Amen
Apparently that young mans guardian angel was along on the vacation. Prayers for a speedy recovery.
He’s got excellent pain tolerance! The injuries I read he sustained, I can’t believe he’s moving as much as he is. Hope his recovery is speedy.
That’s so scary! He’s a trooper for sure and I’m glad he’s alive.
I've slipped and fell because of loose rock on trails a few times in my life. Those instances were on my mind when I visited the GC, and I stayed a good distance from any ledge while there.
THAT'S WILD 😮 glad he survived.
Omg how scary. 😮 I wish him a speedy recovery 🙏🏻
So glad that you're okay. Was praying the entire time. Very afraid for you. So glad you're okay. I hope you heal well
Oh damn!!! You're one lucky and resilient fella, aren't you! Sending good vibes from Brazil 🇧🇷✌️
The bravery and skills of those Search & Rescue Rangers saved his life by getting him out and into medical treatment. #SARrocks
Sounds like he bypassed the guard rail or went where the park tells you NOT to go. Why didn’t they mention this?
Bring up personal responsibility? Not the media.
There are plenty of stretches along the rim with no guard rail. It’s not a Disney world out there, people. You have to mind your actions and pay attention.
Because God says not too.
They explained that the path is very narrow and he was trying to get out of the way for people who were passing.
Praise god it wasn’t his time to go. Hope it recognizes that. Very happy he made it out alive nothing short of a miracle!!
God made him slip. Thats what God wanted.
@@longfellow5276 ???
@@longfellow5276yes, and god didn’t let him die, so he should happy that God kept him alive instead of letting the fall kill him
Lucky he's alive, blessings. I hope he's doing better😢
He sure had angels looking out for him. God bless him and his family.❤
So happy you are alive and recovering!!!
Truly a miracle, God has bigger plans for you...what a blessing.
Amazing miracle!
Be careful taking selfies! You can get really discombobulated really fast out there especially when turning around and tipping your phone up to look down at you an into the Canyon.
Gees, one lucky young man! Such great news!!
You gotta love his personality! Love his shirt!
I'm so glad he's alive!
A miracle!!!😮
A miracle is something that is impossible but happened anyway. Surviving a fall is not a miracle because it's not impossible.
@@ShwiftJustice At what height does it start to become a "miracle"? Or "possible"?
I’m glad he’s ok 🤎🙏🏾
Poor thing. 😢😢 I hope he recovers 110%!
what a lucky boy. guys, please be so careful out there
Brave kid.
Summary: 13 yr old male does something stupid. Normal for a 13 yr old male.
Yeah moving out of the way for selfish people who don't respect personal space is pretty pointless.
It's so nice to hear him thank the people who actually helped him and not just God. Good on him!
That's a story you tell your kids, and they say whatever.
Glad the kids ok.
Good work to all involved.
Angels all around him!
Isn’t there a fence at the Grand Canyon, blocking the edge? Or is it merely open space? Or some parts fenced off and some parts open?
The 100 foot steep slope he went down ends with a cliff precipice- he tumbled right to the edge before stopping--- extremely lucky!
13?? He looks/sounds 30 !
Okay but his shirt is funny
Yeah in a different news story where you can actually SEE it. Way to go, GMA.
I’m shocked that he survived!! 😮
Thank goodness that kid survived the fall. Why people would want to go so close to the edge is beyond me.
No picture is worth your life!!! Some people are just mindless and crazy af trying to take a selfie on the edge of the cliff until they fall to their death just so they can post it on their social media for likes and attention. Lol
He wasn't doing anything abnormal. I think the issue is more that other people have no patience. He was trying to get out of the way for another tourist.
I am afraid of heights so my visit to the North Rim Bright Angel Trail was short. Glad this young lad is doing alright. What a fright, cannot even imagine. 😱
a grad student in my department died hiking the rim. slipped on loose gravel and fell 300+ feet. she was an experienced hiker. she was only 24 yrs old.
Oh hell no glad hes okay
My goodness what a lucky story! God has plans for you!! Glad you’re safe!
I'm glad you mentioned this was at the less-traveled North Rim. There are three distinct tourist areas for the Grand Canyon, all very far road-wise from each other.
Still, Bright angel point is fenced, with a concrete path. He fell because he was doing something dumb.
@@johnc3525he specifically said he moved out of the way for other tourists and lost his balance.
@@johnc3525technically it is dumb to move out of the way for selfish people though. I think people need to learn patience and how to respect personal space.
100 feet?! 😳 That IS hyper lucky. When I was sixteen, I was free climbing with two friends near the ocean. All three of my holds came loose. I fell ~30 feet onto a rock, and then, into the ocean. I was injured, but conscious. Had to get myself out on my own. It was ROUGH. Much luck, but calm wits were both involved.
And his choice of Tshirt to wear for this interview is… *chef’s kiss* 😅
😂
Blue?
Anyone know how the kid fell over a 3 foot rail though?
Thank GOD...
Which ONE lol.
Went to the Grand Canyon with a sister I didn't grow up with and her son and his friend started inching their way down a sandy somewhat gravel like small ledge, I immediately begged them to please not do that, just one second is all it takes to end a life that has barely begun.
Thank God, He kept you!!
The kid was smart enough to thank the people, that actually did something to help.
Your imaginary friend could just as likely have pushed him over as he saving him.
What a horrible thing to say are you meaning all the little children that die around the world is because God turns a blind eye?
@@user-eh8yz6ko3t
I agree, it would be horrible for God to kill babies.
And according to doctrine, he sent a flood that killed both pregnant women and babies.
If it were true, it would indeed be horrible. He would be a moral monster.
Keanu Reeves son it has to be!!because this man(he is a teen but survived a huge fall so he is now a.man) is VERY lucky to be alive righ now.
I'm glad you are not dead and still able to tell the tale.
Safe travels fellow human!
Glad he’s ok.
80 wow, gotta be a special kind of special
This kid must be made of steel I'm glad he didn't leave this world before his time God bless him
Hallelujah 🙌🏾
HE IS SO LUCKY AND HAVE A CHANCE TO LIVE AGAIN ....A LIFE LESSON TO LEARN !
We're so lucky you chose caps lock or we may not have seen your comment!
At the bottom of the Grand Canyon near the hiking trail is a small Park Ranger building whose walls are covered with photos of hiker corpses, people who thought they were master climbers. Hiking the mule trails in and out of the canyon is easy, but hiking the many trails along its steep canyon walls can be fatal for those who don't heed the Park Rangers' warnings.
Hiking in the mule trails, such as the bright angel trail is much easier but you still need to be somewhat fit, carry proper water and wear proper shoes as well as take some snacks along.
He was doing just like any tourist would do. Just because of his age many thought he was doing one of those tiktok stunts. Glad he wasn't. He seems to be a good kid. Wish him to get better soon, and tell all about it to his friends once the school opens.
He was. Bright angel point is fenced. You don't fall if you're not doing something stupid.
@@johnc3525 They said the trail is very narrow. He said he lost his balance after he let others pass.
@@johnc3525have you been there? Someone told me the railing is 3 feet. Do you know if it would be possible to fall over the railing?
@@IWriteEssaysSorryI've been there, it's a normal railing that prevents normal people from falling.
He said he went to the highest point and I think I remember a rocky area that you can get go up. But that's off trail, the "trail" itself is a paved path, so it's not like he was on the tourist trail.
@@bpxl53yewz29If I remember well there is a short section that is narrow and sort of exposed. But he said to went the the highest point. The trail itself is paved but there is at least one area right off the trail (as in the trail goes around it) that people go up. I think that's where he fell, it's off trail, there are no railings there because you're not supposed to go there.
She said "north" rim, it's actually the south rim where he fell.
The t shirt he's wearing, which the channel banner is blocking perfectly, says "I Do My Own Stunts🤸♂" lol!
😂😂😂
Idk how people can go near those cliffs. I can't even go near my apartment balcony's railing because I get vertigo every time. If I do somehow end up at the Grand Canyon one day, among all those tourists, if you look down, you will see me slowly crawling on the ground to get close to those cliffs. Lol.
Vertigo is when the room starts spinning like a washing machine or a boat in a storm. It's much worse than dizzy.
so awesome that he does not remember anything... his mom though will be with PTSD the rest of her life... oh my...
That's incredible. Journalist should have be more informative. Kid obviously had a concussion given he had loss of consciousness, but apparently no fractures? No internal organ trauma? Wow.
They can also be loose with the term "fall". To many of us that could sound like "freefall". But in this case, it was much more of a steep tumble. A 100 ft fall straight down onto any hard surface will always be fatal, obviously.
I always stay back at least my height. You could pass out or an entire edge could give way and collapse.
Dang!!!!!!
Nothing but the grace of God....bless him an i hope for a blessed an speedy recovery 🙏
Oh please yes God spared him but not the other millions of little children dying. Maybe he just got lucky
@@user-eh8yz6ko3tif millions of others die, then all the more reason for him to be grateful that God let him live
I love to visit the GC, but cringe at the aggressive tourists who push you aside to get their selfie.
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Good to know he is safe and well. I hope the park closes off that area of the trail. It's not worth the risk.
Horace hawks welcome him back ❤
when your body goes through a tremendous shock like that, the brain will block it out in order for you to recover.
He looks pretty banged up
He got too close to the edge.😊
💚💛
I bet he's an actor, no one could've survived that
But glad hes ok
Every time I visit the Grand Canyon, I stay away from those rails. They are not high enough, in my opinion.
When are people going to learn not to go passed the barriers or go on pathes not for visitors.
Where did it say he did this?
I have my doubts
Why do these people go there when they know it’s so dangerous
That millions of people visit this canyon every year and manage to not die or fall over speaks volumes. Bloody fool so far as I'm concerned. Excuses will flow.
Do you know if that location is blocked off or if they're specifically told not to go there? Seems to me was being careful, but had to move out of the way for another tourist. That caused him to lose his balance. I think people need to learn patience and how to respect personal space.
No one should fall from this. More needs to be done to prevent this from happening. No one should be a risk falling or shut it down.
Are you saying "shut down the Canyon"? It's a place of incredible beauty where people are responsible for their own safety. It's dangerous and it's certainly not Disneyland; just respect it and be very careful.
@@dgillmore4778 no one should go where it's their responsibility to be safe. No one should fall and this has happened before. They need to make it where it's safe and you have no risk of falling. If these paths can cause you to fall then shut them down. They say you don't have much room on these paths and other people have died falling. Who keeps something like this open that can cause a person's death. The first guy who fell would have been enough to close it down are make it safer. Yeah the canyon is beautiful but not at the cost of someone's life. Use binoculars and enjoy it.
@@dgillmore4778 Disneyland is an amazing place too, where people have died tragically due to carelessness etc. Must be an Earth thing.
It's probably a good thing he has no memory of the fall. That would be a nightmare to keep thinking of it.
I'm unclear, he fell over or through the guardrails?
I thought you are charged for rescue expenses if you venture over barriers??
😂😂😂😂😂 His shirt says he does his own stunts 😂😂
It's time to put a taller fence in that area if possible. Christ holds the keys to life and death and it wasn't his time to die. This is a miracle!
GOD IS GOOD💕🙏🏿💕🙏🏿💕🙏🏿💕
And subjective.

Them Dakota boys are built different. Made of cast iron.
boy the license plate on their car is really bent
But his head seems like tilted to the left. I hope his bone structure is fine.
See the guardrails?? The bars that now have fencing attached to them??
They were way too short to protect anyone. They need to block off that area period, if they can do that.
Final Destination, you can’t cheat death. 🥺
