I despise any kind of relationship with a very big age difference. Mainly because it's cringeworthy that people would have sex with a partner that is at the same age and their children and also because they can be problematic when one is in the prime years of their life and the other has already a marriage, children and a whole life in the past.
I'm assuming that in this case, she presented herself as a very interesting, powerful and caring woman and that had an effect on him. I still baffled at anyone who would choose a partner 20 years younger.

I'm convinced she's a beard. The same way Hugh Jackman's wife was. I think many of these good looking actors understand that in order to be marketable they have to be straight. But if they're not in a relationship then there will constantly gossip about them. I think there's a reason people like Luke Evans aren't superstars. He's a phenomenal actor and gorgeous but he's also openly gay. And I think that that has sadly hurt his career. I could absolutely see Luke playing James Bond. But he simply is not as marketable as someone like Daniel Craig because everyone knows that Luke is gay. You can't play one of the most iconic womanizing figures in cinematic history while also being openly gay. I don't think that anyone on this planet could have played wolverine the way Hugh Jackman did but I also think that if he had come out as gay at any point, his career would have seriously suffered for it. No one would have taken him seriously as wolverine.

Let him tell his own story…. My grandmother got married to my grandpa when she was 15 and HER mother married my great grandpa (who is still alive) when my great grandmother was 33 and he 20yrs old. Let Aaron own his own narrative, if felt manipulated and groomed maybe he’ll say so when he’s ready but if he doesn’t feel that way, online attacks on his marriage and family could be quite hurtful and does nothing to help anything at all.
This story is much more nuanced than just big age gap though. She directed a movie he was in which also happened to be his big break, when she was already a pretty influencial photographer. Age gap isn't the issue, power dynamics is. Also, if he really was groomed he probably doesn't know about it, that's very much implied.
Age gaps in the past and age gaps in the present are two different kettles of fish, different generations norms and customs that were acceptable then but not now. Personally a teenager marrying an older person is strange to begin with, regardless of the time but here we are. He married a person who had significant power over him and was old enough to be his mother, and no one raised questions. Sure, maybe it was love at first sight. But this isn't the only case like this, where a younger actor/actress/personality is groomed by someone with more power than them, and people just watch. You got woody allen who married his daughter for a start, then theres the sexualisation of young girls and the devaluation of older women to the point that men in their 50s refusing to date women older than 25 isnt considered strange, its a system of abuse. Sure your family might've had a different experience with age gaps, alone they are just that, a gap. But its when there is a power imbalance, as well as like the *gap* itself that provides an issue. I think jumping conclusions about their relationship specifically is pretty shitty, and i hope for his stake that the rumors are lies. But its more about what their relationship represents in an industry that just encourages children to grow up quickly in order to be sexualised.

There was already a huge power dynamic from the start. Not to mention that fact the Aaron was 17-18 so it was likely that he had little to no experience with relationships with girls his age and probably had never even been in love before. She also divorced her husband and they got engaged after a year. Sam as went on interviews and bragged about how they've only been apart from each other for 3 days and Aaron was miserable without her. Missing your partner is one thing but being codependent on them is another thing. Aaron has been so isolated that it's likely that he doesn't understand that what's happening to him is wrong. Hence the point of grooming. He didn't have a lot experience before Sam so he doesn't know what is normal in a relationship. So why would he leave?
