Yeah, everybody knows it was an act, but still, it was funny. Her being a funny person to be around has nothing to do with the joke itself, but more with her personality. Just because you try to crack jokes doesn't make you funny, case and point Brie Larson.

Don't go fooling yourself that everything an actor says in an interview is scripted, else you are fooling yourself just as much as you think other people being fooled by actors themselves. Lots of actors do simply say things they do not mean or do not realise how it sounds, and often genuinely backtrack if they feel like they insulted someone (see Benedict Cumberbatch on this very show - where he insulted Americans then felt bad - as an example), so if they can do that, they can also make the odd accidental innuendo, for sure.
So the real logic is "She has used this line before" rather than your logical fallacy of "She is an actor", anyway: Lots of non-actors repeat the same lines as they know it will get a reaction, too. Her doing that has nothing to do with her being an actress or even a celebrity who often gets interviewed: I wish my dad would stop making the same bad jokes and laughing at them himself too, and he's never been on a talkshow in his life!

Can we just recognise how down to earth and humble Emilia is, who is genuinely surprised that Brad Pitt could show any interest in her. She has absolutely no idea how stunning and lovely and she is.

Nah, I think she does realize--you have to have some semblance of awareness of your physical attributes when you're an actor at that level. I also think that the reason why she comes off that way ('down to earth') to you is a cultural thing; Brits love self-deprecation and try to leave a good impression by acting humble. Whether the people on these talk shows the entire nation watches truly are that way is anybody's guess. Chances are that if she was all boastful and open about how hot she is the public would rip her to shreds lol.

@Andrew G it’s a complicated thing, because self-depreciation, while it can garner you a lot of public approval, can actually hurt your ego and confidence, which helps a lot if you’re constantly in the limelight. If you believe your own hype it can benefit you mentally, although you can come off as a douche to others - but some need that confidence to survive.
