I love the old mission-style Taco Bells and the red roof Pizza Huts (with dining rooms). Not even a handful of them still exist, but there are still some surviving to this day.

@@cryptosapien8420 Domino's is also guilty of that too. They changed their recipe awhile back and the pizza just isn't the same anymore either. I hate it when these chains change their recipes when there's nothing wrong with them. If it's not broken, don't fix it!

Man! You guys are newbs. Most of the 90's didn't even look like that. Only between 1986-7ish up until some time around the early 90's like 1993-4 did things continue to look like that. That was only malls, arcades and chuck e. cheeses continues to look like that. The 90's were really not that special beyond 1994ish and the video games, movies and music until 1997 with music and movies soon followed in the early 00's. Gangster rap, Marilyn Manson becoming mainstream and try hard shocky and Grunge ruined the rest of the 90's. They made everything too damn serious. 9/11 just finished things off after that and gave rise to the pussy don't take chances easily offended generation. The 80's were where it was at. Pastels were more an 80's thing. Not 90's

It actually looks good inside. Someone should buy it and make it a retro dinner or something. With the retro wave hitting, young people would love it, not to mention older folks who lived through it.

That looks like it was originally a 70s design with redone 90s interior that just seemed out of place. Still better than today’s vanilla look.
Yes, it got a remodel somewhere in the 1980s with that side tower thing made of wood. That was an economy update to match what was the then current design for restaurants. The gaudy paint though is a 1990s era refresh.
Growing up the 60s and 70s were like ancient to us now these 90s are the new 60s it's so surreal
You're not too far off with that brief hippie revival in the early 90's that kinda gave birth to Pauly Shore. Where the 60's ended with tragedy with the Sharon Tate and Labianca murders killing the hippie movement; the 90's ended with 9/11. Apples to oranges in comparison but, still nonetheless decades ending in nation wide tragedy.

This was the Burger King where my wife worked. It was her first job and she used to stand in the first window of the drive thru and take money for hours on a Saturday. She tells me, as a side note, the Rural King next door to it used to be a KMart. I hope you grabbed a little footage of it. If not, you'll have to come back sometime. Cheers!

That's because they flame-broil the burgers versus frying them like at other fast food places. Burgers always taste better cooked over an open-flame instead of over heat. Healthier too because the fat burns off of the burger patties.

Burger kings are closing down like nobody’s business. West Michigan is being littered with abandoned BK buildings. The only ones that have been repurposed are now half ass taco joints.
I live one town over from Niles. This BK struggled for a long time, I wish that someone would buy that building and put something new in :)

Our Brooklyn, Michigan Burger King closed down, and they leveled it almost immediately, nothing came into replace it. Empty lot now.

Any abandoned BK is a sad thing! Their burgers are 10x better than McDonald’s and their “original chicken sandwich” with cheese is literally the best fast food item EVER! BK’s biggest problem is that their stores are always dirty and unkept . If they would remodel their stores I’m sure they would do much better
i remember exploring one very similar decor in diamond bar ca off the 57 freeway. it was demolished a few years ago

This LOOKS more like the old classic BK buildings from the 70s and 80s but later changed its original motif colors to the colorful 90s theme look.
This looks so similar to my local old school McDonald's. The drive thru and entry way are identical. Either someone ripped off the design of someone else (likely) or this used to be a McDonald's, or that used to be a bk.
They need to open this place back up and name it retro Burger King. to give the customers that 90s feel

They are in the process of changing our Burger King here in Grove City Ohio over to a Popeye's Chicken taking about a year-and-a-half to do it though but it still looks like the old BK..

When was it shut down? It doesn't look like it's been abandoned for 20+ years. I remember the one we had in Scotland looked like this too. Cardboard crowns, Cool Kidz gang. This was the place to have your birthday parties. 90s was the best.

The new Burger Kings don't even have a McDonald's-style Playplace. They're basically saying "forget the kids".

It’s sniper Jake I love burgerking my mom also works at one and she is the general manger in a burgerking in mi also it’s cool because in 2000 my parents before I was born moved to a part of mi but it was the same county a few weeks later the owners wife has a fight and shut the old bk down then 17 years later there’s a new one where my mom is the head boss it’s cool

I've seen a few abandoned Burger King restaurants lately in my city as well as some other abandoned restaurants like Sonic, Church's Chicken, etc, probably because of too much competition...
I love the 1990s fast food restaurants decor. I grew in the 90s and remember going to Burger King and it looked exactly like this. Nowadays it seems like they are going for some boring cafe style looks. They are even making them smaller with less seating with uncomfortable chairs. McDonald’s is getting rid of their big kids play areas for smaller ones too. If only we can go back in time to the 90s, when everything was still simple.
Update : that bk first opened in 1986 and closed in 2009 due to unsanitary conditions
