Amtrak p42 75 test train with metra f40ph 113
WOW a 9 car train test train.. I wonder how the loading is vs the MP36.
Now Amtrak P42DC 75 is unfortunately Repainted Into Phase 7
Thanks, didn't know that.
Awesome video just subscribed
Thanks.
Well RTA could buy P32s for switch/work trains
It's a P42
Very cool
Why was there a test train with a Genesis unit? Did Metra at one tome consider purchasing Genesis locomotives?
don't know the reason for the test. i learned about the upcoming event on an Internet railfan group.
That's all I know.
Nice, this your recordings?
Yes, all the videos I post I took myself.
Nice! I wish I could go railfaning but all I get is a short line
When Amtrak retire the P42s they will be definitely missed but Metra will make good use of them awsome locos
This video is promising, but last I heard they plan on keeping Metra EMD only.
They would go to Via Rail, Canada, tho
@@maas1208via rail has the sc-42s being delivered.
@@ghosttrain312 I mean the VIA Long Distance trains
Unless Metra is also interested in GE diesels.
Fact: Amtrak trains don't drive through parts on MD-W
What were they testing?
Sorry, don't know. Just heard about the test from an EMD engineer.
My guess is they were testing to see if the Genesis would be a good addition to the fleet. Sure they were more powerful, but GE’s load slower, so the acceleration is poorer than an EMD’s. And just going off this vid, I completely see how that plays out. Wouldn’t be a good match for such an intensive railroad like the Racetrack, or any of Metra’s lines really.
Kinda makes sense that the only railroads using GE’s in commuter service use either the AC variants, or just seem to have less frequent service
Thanks for your insight.
@@russellgxy2905 probably why GE is associated more with long distance than EMD. The Genesis series kind of set that in stone for them.
