It still amazes me how many people who make videos like this came to Highlands, and still do to this day. It was always just "across the street from grandma's house" in my mind, despite how much time I spent there just watching trains.

It certainly was, however the train got so delayed on CSX that the passengers were bused and the equipment deadheaded to Chicago. It was over 12 hours late that night.

@@ChadsRailfanExperience Also was interesting to see some train numbers that I recognize which were once applied to differently-named trains - for example, Amtrak 354 in this video being the Twilight Limited, but today one of the 3 eastbound Wolverines. From now on, I'll always think of 354 (which I've ridden myself multiple times) as the Twilight Limited in spirit (just as I already think of the overnight Northeast Regionals as the "Night Owl" in spirit)... just references that remain today of Amtrak trains of a prior era.

I saw that same GP40X you caught leading that Santa Fe intermodal in the yard in Galesburg in September of 2014, still wearing Santa Fe blue and yellow but lettered for BNSF and wearing the number 3033. Far as I'm aware, that's the only GP40X I've ever seen.

7:54 That coach just after that Horizon coach, and before that Amfleet II coach ... that's definitely an ex-Metroliner - I first noticed the roof which had metal pieces still on there where the pantograph assembly would go, then I played that piece again, and noticed the tiny, 10th window that Metroliners had, but Amfleet Is didn't.
edit: 8:42 Another one that - looks like these were the Metroliners that were converted not to cab cars, but to coaches - which I guess based off of the cab window being sealed off, as well as the door adjacent to the cab.
