He does make a good point about Persona coming to switch way too late. Another reason is that if we got it around 2020, it would've exploded because of covid. But because we got it around 2022 when that was starting to die down, it wasn't as big a deal, people actually had time to go out and do stuff at that point. The whole reason Animal Crossing was such a huge deal was because it gave people who were stuck at home something to do. A 100+ hour game like P5 would've been great, but ATLUS kinda fumbled the bag on that one.
Shouldn't forget that Atlus themselves was impacted by the Virus you never know what happens internally in such companies and there probably was a reason. Maybe they first wanted to finish royal and then the porting process to the switch just took so long because of the hardware limitations of the switch. But that is just my theory here.
Atlus probably didn't want to cannibalize sales for Shin Megami Tensei V which was originally going to release in 2020, they hadn't announced the release date at the time they decided to bring it up to 2021
I got P5 Royal during the start of the pandemic, and it was a highlight for that era for me. Especially since I was fresh out of high school when I played it, so it felt a bit more personal to me.

@@itsmyfavgameseries i'm also a fan but persona has so many awful tropes and such questionable writing at parts as well as a lot of... disagreeable game design, not something i'd recommend to someone who's already decided they're not the biggest rpg fan, plus it's a ridiculous time investment for someone who spends so much time making videos
So yeah am i the only one who just keeps pushing forward playibg persona 5 because they just cannot see the game anymore? I am not saying it is a bad game the opposite in fact. i am just saying i cannot take games that are like everywhere so much it's suffocating. Is anyone else having that problem or is it just me?
Most persona fans nowadays only talk about persona 5 because it brought in new casual fans who haven't played the other games, so now that's all you hear about. I hope p6 is actually good and doesn't have mcu tier writing
Honestly the key is to just not get involved with fandoms, aside maybe the memes. I have played Persona 3, 4 and 5, as well as several of the mainline SMT games all after having Persona 5 as an entry point. It's an excellent game, but far from the best even in it's own series, but it is a great gateway and still a fantastic game so I'd say go for it and ignore the community
