- Check out my top 10 Nirvana riffs. During the recording I broke one string but I thought "Let's Grunge'N'Roll" and kept playing without it. I really like guitar sound of Kurt Cobain and tried to reproduce it and I made a bundle with Nirvana tabs, backing tracks, instrumentals and presets for Guitar Rig 5 where I tried to create Kurt Cobain's guitar sound. Aero Zeppelin was written in 92? Same with Aneurysm, it wasn’t. Aero was around in 88 I think, and Incesticide was in 1990
I never understood why some people say that kurt Cobain couln't play guitar. He was such a great guitar player!
because he said that humbly in an interview once and people are sheep and believe whatever they see/read/hear
I'm not a guitarist, but from what I've heard and what I've seen his riffs are quite simplistic, maybe that's what they meant?
@@sethwell2552 Its not the riffs. It's his technique. He doesn't have the cleanest technique of playing and such is viewed as not a great player. But screw that, he made great sounds with a "bad" technique so that doesnt matter

Because compared to other guitarists in the mainstream at the time he sucked when put next to them because he had a sloppy more punk way of playing which is basically like beginner level stuff but compared to some other punk guitarists he is really good

Vegeto SSGSS def way more grunge than metal. Ver, had a huge metal tone going on a few of these riffs, which made them seem more metal.
Finally, a compilation of nirvana riffs based on good they actually are rather than how popular they are. Everyone overlooks some of their earlier stuff, but they had some mesmerizing riffs before they blew up

Ok but some of the popular songs have way better riffs then any of the Bleach riffs. Nirvana fans are so weirdly elitist despite being fans of one of the most popular bands ever
For Kurt Cobain being known to write simple stuff, some of these riffs are actually fairly difficult.
Mexican Seafood was a fairly tough riff for me to get down and the only reason I can even play it is because I don't try to play it cleanly
Simples does not mean easy ;)

Their least famous songs are the once that have better riffs, except for Heart shaped box and lithium. Basically almost all the songs from Bleach have the heaviest and greatest riffs

Kurt was a good guitarist. It is not always about how perfect your technique is. He played with “incorrect” technique yet still sounded amazing. Another thing that sets him apart is his expert rhythm. If you listen to “heart shaped box”, it has an extremely unnatural pause that most people mess up. Do not call him bad unless you play guitar.

I see we have another “fuck Teen Spirit” way of thinking.
Smells Like Teen Spirit is definitely a top 10 Nirvana riff. Fuck how easy it is or how over played it is... fact is it’s an amazingly catchy/easy riff that changed rock. Cobain even stated he doesn’t hate it contrary to the numbskulls who say he did. He mentioned he doesn’t want it taking focus away from the other songs he put a lot of effort into such as Drain You which he thought was just as good or better. I would take Rape Me off and put SLTP in it’s place.
But thankfully Aneurysm got highlighted and also Serve the Servants.
Unless this is just a guitar list then Lounge Act or Sliver should definitely be up there.

Berry Bumpkiss Absolutely a top 10. The structure of the song is one of their strongest if not the strongest. The way he blends the singing melodies and the guitar, namely the solo. The lyrics are great and catchy. The whole instrumental alone is top 10 especially with Dave on drums.
