    I’ve struggled with this move for my entire golf life. Lessons I’ve taken through the years always seem to focus on what the arms are doing. I will definitely be working on these drills. Thanks for your great content

    Exactly the skill I’m working. This movement is easier shown then done😁

      I liked this video as you kept it simple and straight to the point. It was clear concise and easy to follow. Thank you from Portugal.

    Gives a great concept of wt shift and and keeping balance to make you move around left hip to release

    Excellent points you are making. In the context of this drill it would be interesting to hear what more you might have to say as to when in the swing do you pressure load the lead side and when do you rotate lead side out of the way so you can get into the slot position? Difficult to visualize from the video but an important feature to implement to be able to compress the ball.

    Really well explained, it is very hard to co-ordinate that left hip/butt cheek in forward transition against that wall but it is the key move for amateurs, keep up the good work Russell, hello from Perth Australia, 40 degrees each day of late.

    Hey Russell I'd like to hear your take on the lead arm from elbow to armpit staying connected to the upper torso. It seems the only way to not cut across the ball. I'm struggling how to properly maneuver the trail arm to make this happen seamlessly.

    I understand the discussion of the resulting position at the end of the follow through, when the arms and hands are essentially extended toward the target.. But I am also concerned about the location of the left hip and the left shoulder at impact-when the arms and hands are in a much different position. Am I correct that the left hip has moved only approximately over the left ankle, and the left shoulder has moved only approximately over the left hip, so that the left shoulder, left hip and left ankle in in approximate alignment? The reason I ask this is that I have had a continuing problem of "spinning out" in the downswing, and I have been trying to slow down(for me, anyway) my left hip and left shoulder rotation into impact. Thank you.

    • @russellheritagegolf
      @russellheritagegolf  Před 2 lety

      Yes your correct. The spinning out is result of a lack of hip depth in the impact area and lack of linear motion.

    Russell many talk so much about the backswing, but this finishing move described here is worth my weight in golf. Should be required viewing for every golfer

    • @russellheritagegolf

      You can golf all year round however most play from March until November?!

  • @JTFey-ls4zp
    @JTFey-ls4zp Před 2 lety +1

    Russell, just to make sure… the head stays in basically the same place throughout the swing. On the downswing, in a matter of milliseconds, the weight shifts to the left foot, then the left hip turns back and up. Thanks for all your great instruction!

    Your trail leg is straightening. I watched one of your vids immediately before this where you pointed out the trail leg shouldn’t straighten 🤦‍♀️😂

    • @russellheritagegolf
      @russellheritagegolf  Před 2 lety

      Of course it will straighten however this is due to the rotation of the pelvis. The amount your trail leg should straighten is a result of how much hip rotation.

    With respect, I've watched many of your videos about how the (your) body works (conscious competence), wrist angles, the takeaway etc etc yet when I watch the 'down the line from behind' view of your swing you do very few of them. In terms of any perspective..
