As a high school coach, I can tell you those relationships are worth all the late nights, long hours, and early mornings a thousand times over. The relationship coach has with his guys was the lifeblood of this show.

i had a very similar relationship with my football coach. my father wasnt around when i was coming up, i was getting into trouble, i was getting bad grades, etc. Our school hired a new coach from the "middle of nowhere" Nebraska and i Thank God every day that man came into my life. That was a huge turning point for me and some of my teammates. He led our team all the way to the state championship 3 years later. My senior season was cut short by a car accident on the way to team dinner the night before the playoffs started. When i was laying in the ditch (after being ejected from my vehicle) with a broken leg it was my coach that was there with me that night. He rode all the way to the nearest ICU unit which was about 2 hours away. I went into surgery that night and he went back to our hometown to coach our team the next day. After i woke up from surgery he was the first person in the room. I dont know when he slept, i dont know how he made the time to coach and look after me, but i hope someday ill have the opportunity to thank him for everything he did. He was a hard SOB, but at that time thats exactly what i needed in my life.
Everyone should be fortunate enough to have a Coach Taylor in their life. The world would be a better place.
I always loved that when Coach met Vince he shook his hand, didn’t look down on him but treated him the same way he did any other player.

I don’t know if I would say saved. They had excellent storylines in both that didn’t include Vince. But he definitely elevated it.
Those were my favourite seasons. Vince elevated them, but they were amazing seasons.
It is so satisfying to see the Lions after everything they had been thru and where they came from win the state championship and give the boys the reward they have chased after before the Lions and East Dillion had to be confined to the history books once again.
I agree. At first I thought it would've been cool to see if Calvin was able to get redeemed like timo cruz in coach carter. I also do think that it's better this way because you can't save everyone and Calvin dying set Vince of the right path. Also seeing how coach taylor cleaned up the program of those guys that weren't buying and having guys who were a little tough but good characters essentially.

I also agree that it would have been a good addition as well to see if calvin could come to his senses similar to timo cruz (also i love that film) but sadly that wasn't the case.
It also was very mystical that Coach Taylor breathed new life into an otherwise dead program with motivated energized and responsible young men willing to follow along with Eric Taylor's vision.
You didn’t show the last scene before state where Vince says “you saved my life”

I'm torn between which one of his relationships I liked the most, Coach and Matt, Coach and Vince, or Coach and Tim.. I think I'm leaning towards him and Matt but they all were great relationships..

Coach and Matt was incredible. Matt still steals the spot light in later seasons.. lol

You left out the scene in the last episode when coach Taylor tells Vince how proud he is of him.
Dealing with Matt's family issues was just the warm up for what coach had to do for the lions

This show would be arguably the best show of all time, if you could remove all of Julie Taylor's scenes. Which sucks because Aime Tragarden (or whatever her name is) is an incredible actress. Just whoever wrote her part sucked lol.
