  • A look at how drones are changing the science behind food production.
Recent developments in compact imaging sensors and Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) have provided a new avenue of research for remote sensing applications. There exist both numerous opportunities and challenges with broader usage of UAS remote sensing, which is in part related to regulations but mostly attributed to processing algorithms of ultra-high resolution imagery, translating the abundant spectral information contained in hyperspectral and hyperspatial data to useful information. Dr. Wasit Wulamu, Associate Professor of remote sensing at Saint Louis University will present example projects of how data collected from sensors integrated with UAS systems can be used to address food and water security under changing climate.
