TRUE MASTERY of the soul and touch of this piece and such grace on the Piano!! What a Magnificent Gift to us all she is! Mitsuko is the reason I began loving Classical Music long ago... She is my Musical first Love .... Aimi Kobayashi reminds me so much of Mitsuko in her cadenzas and movements... Heart and Soul induced into Mastery of movement... Key errors disappear through the stance of the channeling experience... It is truly remarkable and inexplicable... there is a Magical aspect to their Talent... it defies explanation...

I've always been a fan of Uchida but this in particular is amazing. I've never heard her play with such verve and panache as heard here!

+costasmen There are and I think it is a matter of time that we will publish them. But before that we would like to continue to honour other competitions' laureates.

Also he's too short to be Rachmaninoff.

Это очень грубо и много фальшивых нот! И плохо с легато и вообще с мелодической линией! Хотя Вторую сонату Шопена она играет ФАНТАСТИЧЕСКИ....

Poor quality recording ... one of the worst quality on CZcams. Please re-do this to get better sound quality.

I greatly admire Uchida, but flat out DON'T LIKE her interpretation to THIS piece. She's a wonderful pianist, but NOT a "Chopiniste." Her approach lacks the grace, delicacy, finesse, aristocratic poise and refinement Chopjns music requires -- even at its most tempestuous. ANd the Barcarllw, though passionate at its climax is hardly "tempestuous." There's no himt of violence or darkness -- only a kind of joyful musing SERENITY. Only HOROWITZ and PLETNEV have ever truly captured the mood I am sure Chopin intended to evoke, though Nelson FREIRE comes very close. .

no, but I'm not entering Chopin competitions. If you enter a competition of such a high level you have to play way better than this,
BTW, your comment is stupid as fuck. Obivuosly I can't play better than a Pro player like Miss Uchida, but as a pianist myself I have an opinion.

+kzelmer It may be full of mistakes but someone worked hard to practice and perform and I would think it would be rude to call that out.

And yet the judges felt she was worthy of being awarded the 2nd place prize. Obviously there's more to music than being note perfect, not that this is an excuse for imprecise playing. Cortot, admired by many of the greatest pianists of all time, played even more wrong notes in his recordings.
Also, what is the point of stating the obvious? Anyone who knows the piece well enough can easily hear the occasional finger slips.

But so well played that they all just melt away in the SOUL of the piece... remarkable talent!
