- Rafal Blechacz plays Chopin's Barcarolle in F Sharp Major at Chopinowski International Competition
A barcarolle (from French; also Italian barcarola, barcarole) is a folk song sung by Venetian gondoliers, or a piece of music composed in that style.
A barcarolle is characterized by a rhythm reminiscent of the gondolier's stroke, almost invariably a moderate tempo 6/8 meter. (wikipedia)
Both the composition and the performance are exquisite.
This is what enjoying music is all about.
This is the best Barcarolle i have heard. Unhurried. Beautiful.
Bravo , Rafal Blechacz !
So touchy so moving, so full of heart, i think exactly like Chopin played. Rafał jesteś najlepszy
I truly believe he is the reincarnation of Chopin.
Puissance, finesse et délicatesse ... Jeu merveilleux de Rafal Blechacz !
Great performance. Undoubtedly an outstanding pianist.

is it still?
@@wertysda Believe it or not, yes it is still!
@@emmau5556 nice! it's currently one of mine as well. We'll see how long it lasts
In a contemporary field vastly overcrowded with excellent players this qualifies as one of the best performances of this particular work. It does seem highly calculated, but his beautiful tone, commanding technique, grandly spacious concept, unhurried phrasing and exquisite cantabile playing make this a superior rendition.
Agreed.
Is that Buchbinder in your profile picture?
Couldn't agree more!
CUDOWNA MUZYKA GENIALNEGO CHOPINA, BOSKIE WYKONANIE. DZIĘKUJĘ.
In response to the earlier comment here that says this is not poetic enough, what Rafal is doing here, as any genuinely respectable musician would do, is to give effect to the original musicality to speak of itself, rather than relegating the music as a medium through which the musician expresses himself
Exactly. Well said.👍🏼
Amen
What a master that Rafal Blechacz is. Golden tone.
the best work of chopin
Poetic playing!!
The best rendition ever as the other renditions, of him, were on the Chopin Competition.
He is a Genius itself
outstanding technique
Sublime !!!! Magnifique .
Look to my channel if you prefer, im composer.
such a sweet recording
If ever a piece in “The Grand Style” this is a concept that describes the most beautiful poetic utterance. The psychology of great music is a most elusive state of unity; of spirit, soul and mind. When brought to perfection by the physical artistry of pianist like this philosopher genius we are left breathless and truly awestruck. I would love to see this opus fleshed out by a ballet corps featuring the prima ballerina. PWG
Sublime
Outstanding!
Oui, c'est une oeuvre magnifique ! Et splendidement interprétée !
Great performance ! Just beautiful !
Nice video quality.

7:04 rubato OMG
Very beautiful

Gosh, his fingers move in such a way you wouldn’t imagine he’d be capable of making those beautiful sounds.
Brawo dla Polski!

💐💐💐
This beautiful artist isn't playing the piano; he's making love to it... and in public no less.
You are so right!! Have you heard him playing the Preludes? Is it pure beauty.
RAFAL IS UNDER 40 YEARS OLD, WHY THE VIDEO IS ON 240p?
Arrau
6:45 at the same time, remember your friend recently die stabbed, and a girl wat i love and is "platonic" or no? She smile ever time i look to your face.
What?
What?
loved it but i don't think the decrescendo at 7:04 works at all
+mcrettable I'd call it "subtlety."
+bethwell28 what do you mean?
I like it when it is played subito and even more dramatically, like in Kissin's performance.
Kissin is more subtly.
Looking at his fingers it looks that he doesn't have much technic.... but what a good sound....
Certainly outstanding technical skills, but often young pianists tend to overabuse of their technical abilities. It is an excellent rendition but rather cold; for me it lacks expressiveness and interpretation. In fact there are several other modern recording just like this one, very good technically but rather emotionless. I guess music being a very personal thing, other people may just love this version and find it outstanding.
It is not possible for this music not to communicate emotion. He plays it truthfully and authentically to its maximum capacity without putting himself to the forefront. If you want overly dramatic interpretations that is your taste but not really a critique with any value.
Wasn't poetic enough. It is as if he wasn't sure about what he is expressing.
I disagree, but readily admit that Horowitz's old studio recording has never equalled for sheer beauty, intensity, virtuosity and poignant emotional involvement. More recently Pletnev's deeply felt, highly original interpretation shimmers with an astonishing array of exquisite tone coloration, Novaes too was one of the greatest -- perhaps THE greatest -- Chopin interpreters who ever lived. That aside THIS is better than good.
+Fred MyOpinion Well said.
