Dude pixel 6 has latest android and will receive the next Android 15 making it fresh for another year. It has the same latest ai features that galaxy s24 has. Pixel 8pro is no where near half of it's lifespan.
The only people that could and not even should be considering pixel 9 right now are pixel 5 users.
You don't need a new phone just because it lacks some quirk if it works
I think everyone is needing a re evaluation of a phones lifespan.
Most phones get multiple updates and the battery better be fine after 6 months.
wtf. 5 months is halfway through a phones lifespan? It does not make any sense. Tech youtubers should think about what they say.
True I buy a phone today and after 1 month they talking about next one crazy..😮
Tech youtubers are not trustworthy because if there isnt a drive to keep buying a new product they have no one to watch their video and have to find a real job.
@@supreme1572 If a "real job" makes u work more and earn less than the "fake job" then why wouldn't they?
The idea that we should all be upgrading our phones every year is pretty stupid and disgusting really. No one is forcing you to do that.
Sadly enough no comsumer is forcing you to do it but the companies themselves do force you to.
No one is forcing anyone to upgrade, except through lack of security updates. There is no company that twists people’s arms to update. I’ve used an LG V60 for 3 years. It has fantastic audio, 3.5mm headphone socket, sd card slot, removable second screen, excellent battery life and screen, … the only reason I’m no longer using it as my main phone is lack of security updates. I’d have got a Sony but their support isn’t as good. Fairphone does longer but the phones has some issues. So, for a phone that will last me several years I’m getting an iPhone. Easy choice. It’s also got deeper integrated personalisation and better wired audio output than the Android phones I considered.
@@AndrewCZcamsUK planned obsolescence sucks!
Agree.Everybody wants to be GREEN but has no problem to change the phone every year snd creating more garbage. And don’t believe they recycle old phones.
@@jojova3776 It's not just the consumer. Yes it's terrible not to recycle phones and upgrade yearly but phone companies make it impossible to stick with a phone for long enough. Update your device so components get worse.
Intentionally ruin your battery, camera quality. Yank away app support. Personally I would love to keep my phone for 7 years but it's impossible. rooting and jailbreaking prevent this from happening but even then they still make no apps available after awhile.
I wouldn't say halfway through it's lifespan. Halfway being googles latest and greatest. Lifespan is when the manufacture stops supporting the device
Exactly. Sometimes reviewers can get a little out of touch because they get access to so many devices in little time
And this phone will have support til 2030
Half way through it's lifespan? Bro, it comes with 7 frickin years of updates. 7!
My 8 Pro was a little buggy when I first bought it about 6 weeks ago, but it's excellent now, possibly due to recent updates. The battery has also improved from being average to very good during the last two or three weeks.
how does it perform with video calls ? especially with regular indoor lighting ?
My pixel 8 pro works so good. I'm keeping it. I'm not buying the pixel 9 pro XL too small 6.5. my pixel 8 pro works just fine. 6.7 is perfect
@@defi_ramsay I don't do video calls so I can't offer an opinion, sorry.
@@defi_ramsaypixel's front cameras are straight trash and have been for the last 3 generations. Video calls will over heat that phone as well
@@defi_ramsay pixels are typically better than Samsung in video call quality in low lights. I have compared my pixel 7 and is better than Samsung s24 plus.
Looking forward to Pixel 9pro small version. We all know that Tensor is worrisome in terms of staying at pace with Qualcomm, but in reality, for all the things you ask it to do, it works just fine. I love the Pixel hardware and software
Pixel 9 pro way too small. nobody needs a phone that that small. I'm keeping my pixel 8 pro 6.7 just right and surv
@@travismayes23 don't speak for all

I'd never go back to an iPhone as a main daily driver after switching to Pixels. My Pixel 7 Pro still has 100% battery strength after 18 months and the main camera is superb.
I currently have an iPhone 13 pro, i like Android and iOS pretty much the same, do you think it is a good upgrade to get a pixel 8?
@@emedtamayovarela1707yes I had both 13 pro Max and pixel 7 pro and honestly pixel is so much more fluidic and camera was better except sometimes in camera where iPhone 13 pro Max was better . Overall much better than iPhone 13 pro Max. Battery is also better . So pixel 8 pro would be even better
@@emedtamayovarela1707I would say wait for 9. Probably you can get a good preorder deal with trading you 13 pro. Tensor G4 may be more power efficient than G3.
Yo bro im thinking of switching from my iphone Xs max to a pixel 7 pro is it worth it or should i look for another phone also how about the camera quality?
@@Randommanontheinternet9641 yes I switched from iPhone 12 to 7 pro and I really like it more than my old phone .
I got my pixel8 pro 256 gb on a deal 3 weeks ago. It was 806$ deal and plus 400$ for trade in so basically I got it for 400$ so it is totally worth it

My Pixel 7 has been nothing but great and the recent update just gave my battery life a new breathe , sharpness and stability at 5x zoom pictures are highly improved, skipped out on the 8 series but definitely looking to get my first Pro version when the 9 series comes out if the leaks are true in screen size
Kill the background noise, some called it music. It’s super distracting.
Got my 7 pro almost 1,5 year now. Never had any issues like heat, lag. Battery got alot better.
I buy pixel for the clean Android and foto's, no gaming Last november I even left my camera home on my trip through VN, Laos and Cambodia! Didn't miss my Sony systemcamera.I skip the 8 pro , a new phone every year is a bit too much. But considering the 9 pro, but only if Google makes a smaller pro model as rumoured. Thats my only issue with the 7pro....a little too big for my likes. Thx for sharing your thoughts . Greetz from Holland.
I thought its lifecycle is 7 years and not just 1 year
Just got one. Local Carrier had $AUD500 off the price on the 128M and 256M versions whether outright or on a 3 year contract.
Very hard to pass up considering 7 years of software support, and my 4a 5G had gone past it's last security update.
Thanks for this amazing review, but what about hotspot issues !
I was just asking myself this very question and like magic, up pops your video 👍
I love me some magic ✨
I've had the pixel 2 XL, Pixel 5, Pixel 6, Pixel 7 Pro, and now Pixel 8 Pro. Google does phones best, I'm glad they are working hard to improve year over year. Pixel 8 series feels like the series 2 pixel devices. I think the pixels have their market now and they will only continue to get better. The CPU is holding the phone back the most. Once they fix that this phone will take market share from all competitors
Have you tried non pixel phones?
@@Philbyyyybeen using Pixel 6a and now OP12 and to be honest i miss PixelUI and regular updates so much.
What do you mean by they feel like the series 2? In a good way?
Nice video Jon!
I love it . Prefer it over the s24u. Camera is incredible
I know you're using your Pixel naked without a case or screen protector but I bought the White Stone Dome liquid dispersion screen protector & it's hands down the best screen protector cuz it goes evenly down the curved edges on the sides, which protects it better & covers more screen area more than any other protector. Plus, the cool thing about purchasing White Stone Dome is that it comes with a clear protector with perfect cutouts that lays across on the camera visor. It can barely be seen & does not take away from the beauty of the gold visor (mine is olive phone color). The result? I've had absolutely no scratches or scuffs on my visor 👌🏼
Can't hear anything background music is so intrusive.
I put a clear vinyl skin on the visor. No scratches. Cheap fix...
My gestures have been weird lately. And my Bluetooth has been terrible since the last update.. kinda irritating.
You didn’t mention the touted ‘Zoom enhance’ feature that has never arrived.
I have a weird bug with the navigation pill bar showing on the right side instead of the bottom so that's a software issue it's not as smooth as the video says.
It was fixed on latest update
My last phone lasted 5 years, and I intend to use my just ordered Pixel 8 for all of it’s updates. And now that I got one for just €489, it was a no brainer at just 27 cents per day.
Likewise been hard to beat my Mate 20 pro
Pixel 8 pro and i play alot of mobile games on it never had any issues . I dont think there are any games on android right now that really stress the g3 chip .
halfway through lifespan?
bruh, i used my redmi note 4 for over 6 yrs, wdym half-way through its life-span ?
WHATS THAT APP WITH B ICON
Great video! Was curious, what is the wallpaper that you are using on your Pixel 8 Pro at 2:54?
Holy sht, the music it's loud 😢
Life cycle is only a year now? Entitlement streches far with this one.
love rhe afro intro music
Typing this from my Pixel 8 Pro. Got the 256 GB version with no discounts and it is well worth the money. I love this baby! 👑 No issues and the camera blows the iPhone 15 Pro Max and (especially) the S24 Ultra.
I picked up the rose gold Pixel 8, I'm absolutely obsessed with the phone and color
One year lifespan??
The Google One VPN App will discontinue in a few months on Pixel 7 7 Pro 8 8 Pro but You'll still be able to use it via settings apparently I'm gutted because I use it every day. Hope You do more Pixel Videos 📱
halfway lifespan is 2 years?
Watching on my pixel 8 pro bay
Can't wait to buy one same colour
Same
Does it rattle like a baby rattle or like my 7 pro?
Every video you make is scripted exactly like what the marketing team wants an influencer to say about the product.
Literally. Why I got away from watching
I'm upgrading from a Galaxy S7 that I used for 8 years... I hope the lifecycle is more than a year lol
Just be patient. Google will be the go to standard when it comes to smartphone
Since March / April update I've had overheating issues and battery drain. I hope this gets fixed otherwise I'll be trading in for a different device.
The only thing that would compel me to buy a flagship now days is if it could be connected to a USB-C dock, keyboard, mouse, monitor and display a full fat Linux distro. Would allow me to use my phone on-the-go for work.
Are there any phones that have that capability
Samsung dex
Halfway through WTC are you talking about??? I just updated from the S8 to the Pixel 8 ... it will be supported to 2030. That why I bought it! Heck I used the S8 which OS updates ended in 2021 and it still worked great. The only reason I updated to the Pixel was some of my main apps I use were no longer going to updated to use Android 9. The Pixel 8 will be supported to 2030.
Will it's price drop in the next 3 months?
Get a used pixel 8 it's around 430ish
I got my pixel 7 256gb model for 250 and I love it .
Safe to buy pixel 8? I still own 6 pro, and have no issue. Just waiting till 5 year guarantee security update to expire lol
IMHO keep waiting, my 4a just got end of support and it’s not too bad, how’s your 6 pro? I’m looking to upgrade into a newer one
@@Zerge6095 it's actually better than it was at launch. Due to updates it no longer has the heat issue it had at launch, and battery life is somewhat better.
I don't get any exclusive new features of the new phones like best take, audio magic eraser, video boost, or zoom enhance. But can live without them
If pixel 9 doesn't promise the 7 year of updates like 8, you should get the 8

Should I wait for pixel 9 pro or should I buy pixel 8 pro
If you have it, it's worth it. If you don't... It's worth it to wait for the 9 series
$1200 in Australia for this phone is ridiculous.
Reviews are basically based on he's thoughts. What you experience is not the same as his. Lets not forget that at the end of the day its us who will decide what to or what not. It's kinda funny how others watched like this and it looks like they didn't learn anything.😅
Would be badass if Google brings back the Nexus line.
The thing is the Pixel 8 line-up is guaranteed to be supported up to 2030.
Don't buy it now, it will depreciate like a rock within 5 months. My trade in value of a pixel 7 pro is $235
This is the way. I would never buy a pixel. Googles track record for updates breaking their phones is terrible.
Any phone does. More so Samsung
@@yziquamizzlegot evidence to support this?
@@mharro88 and you are right it is very dependent on the phone model. Samsung has had some bad ones (Samsung S4) . And LG was my worst experience (lg g4 to g6 bootloop) also affecting google phones made by lg. Pixels new chipsets are warmer and have not as good reception. Overall modern phones are so good it's easy to point out minor flaws.
Or just... Buy it in 5 months when is cheaper but still a good phone
Coming from a 15 Pro, i missed so many Pixel things it's good to be back. But the stuttering even with 120hz enabled is annoying. I miss the smoothness, bright colors, and overall brightness of the 15 Pro screen, there is no comparison. The difference is striking. It is definitely not "absolutely incredible" as stated
You may have gotten a faulty phone. Using it now display is flawless.
My battery has been getting really sus. I'm at 50% by noon 🤔
I used Pixel 8 Pro for 4 months. After the 3rd month started to lag, overheat and crash. It was a daily thing and sometimes twice per day. I waited for March update and it fixed some lag and some crash but the overheating was worse. Talked with Pixel support and they confirmed my device is normal and everything is OK. I got tired of Pixel's issues. I traded it with Galaxy S24 Ultra not regretting it at all.
You will soon. Samsungs even have widespread problems with green lines showing up on their displays, their cameras are bad and still exhibit shutter lag. Also general UI lag gets worse as it ages. I haven't had any lag issues with my Pixel 8 Pro, it still works buttery smooth since I pulled it out from the box.
@DeadofWinter321 Ironically, my experience is exactly the opposite of what you said.
Pixel lags, overheat and app crashing
Galaxy buttery smooth, lag free and excellent camera.
@DeadofWinter321 My main issue is that I don't like Samsung customer care and first-party accessories. Plus the weight of the phone and sharp corners are too much for me.
Just bought my two weeks ago had a s20 ultra prior. I really like the pixel it's pretty good so far and its a very good price compared to all the new samsungs. I'd recommend this phone.
your video is titled pixel 8 but your talking about the pro version??
I love my google 8 pro, i would not say its even close to ending.
Went into my phone provider and walked out with my second Pixel Phone....the 8 Pro. Blown away with the photos. Who needs a DSLR camera any longer?
Of course it's safe. The phone won't kill you.
Google is making it harder for users who love the Pixel experience to switch to another device. I'm keeping my Pixel 8 Pro and wait for the Pixel 11 Pro XL to upgrade
For the photo part, I could get a pixel 7 for 200 bucks which would give same photo, why to spend 4 times.
No it won't, you must be blind.
I'm going to have to disagree with you on video boost. Yes it takes hours to result but it's totally worth it for low light situations. I have some great shots from Christmas lights and bars and restaurants. You picked a poor example.
They need to go smaller like the pixel 2 I have a 6 now and might have to get the fold to just go smaller
Forgot the fingerprint authorization needs fixed also
No reviewer in honest sadly I'm our day and age! The pixel 8 pro great at camera and software, that's about it. Battery life sucks if you use your phone more than taking a couple of calls, and what kills it for me is the signal! This chip is just not good, I never gotten a good signal in most places where my s24 ultra has no problems. If you can't use the phone for the main thing its meant for then what the hell?
Knock on wood i might be some kind of freak but i never drop my phone 😊 and certainly do not put it in my pocket with other stuff 😢 do people actually do this?😅
I have the 8 and I’ll be honest I still get lag and stutters here and there. I stay updated on the OS too.
Seems odd. Never had lag since way back to galaxy 6 and 7
Modern android doesn't lag so something is up
Same. And my Bluetooth cuts in and out so much since I've had it. And it's not the headphones cause I had no issues when I used it with my iPhone before this
It's just not as smooth as my Samsung phones (Flip 5, S24, Fold 4). I want to love the Pixels (tried most of them) but something always disappoints. It might be battery, phone running too hot, camera and overall experience in warm weather absolutely chokes the Pixel (when I had the 7 Pro)...
My biggest complaint on the Pixel 8 is the screen. I tried an iPhone 15 Pro for 6 months and got spoiled by how much smoother, brighter, and colorful it is. But at almost half price on sale, the Pixel is going to have compromises
When it comes to pixels the best rule to follow is to buy them one year after release, you get them half price in the uk brand new, even less refurbished. And another huge advantage is the flaws in the software will be fixed, google is like a student always leaving everything to last minute before the exam then having a panic and rushing about releasing an incomplete package and spending the next year catching up, fixing the issues that should have been resolved before the exam(release date)They get there eventually but it damages reputation and results(its called immaturity)Apple are grown ups(prepare plan promote prove perform)but we all know that grownups are boring(who wants boring?)
People thinking a devices life span is only 1 year is the biggest issue with this industry.
I got my pixel 8 pro 256gb been grate after battery learns your usage, everyone needs to remember Google is not trying to keep up with the Snapdragon chip for what the pixel phones are used & needed for they work grate the AI is grate so people need to stop with the Samsung chip lol
I do not believe anyone can ise the Pixel 8 pro without a case...It would not survive a day
40 month rule. Always, if possible, plan to change your phone every 40 months.
Spend over 1k on this years phone or $300 on last years I’ll take last years

Same here. I look forward to trading my pixel 8 pro for the fold 2
Can we just stop to appreciate the fact that we are scrutinizing a phone that's just at its 9th iteration and we compare it to the iphone "15" and Samsung "24" iterations... Love my Pixel 8 pro!
On device video boost might make the phone really really warm for the next several generations.
i think they should give it until 2025 december to make the perfect phone
I love my pixel 8 pro. I'm not giving it up for nothing. I'm not buying the pixel 9 pro XL too small too small. 6.5 is not for me. I like the big phone so I'm sticking with the pixel 8 pro

Where is Zoom Enhance, Google? Jon may have given you a pass on it, but I haven't.
the phone heats up like a radiator in 10 minutes
User error.
I don't need a new phone every year. I'll keep my Pixel 6a.
Phone held up well because it was never used hahaha
Google like the only company showing off new devices just 6 month after last launched stealing the spotlight of its own phone
They should cancel the a line series. At launch you can get the base model for the same price. For example, last year you could get pixel 7 (new) at the same price as pixel 7a at launch
There is a massive amount of money being made in the cellphone industry. Most of the 'improvements" are at best tiny and unnecessary and people are gullible enough to purchase them. The company with the best marketing wins.
I’m an iPhone user and I want to make a change to the next pixel but it’s a scary thing idk
I was an Android user and got my first iPhone (13 Pro Max) more than 1.5 years ago. LOVED the overall experience so much that even though I would still like to have a latest android but it won't replace the iPhone, Maybe as a secondary device.
