This is brutally honest advice for basketball players. These are tips that every basketball player needs to hear if they want to get better, but don't want to hear.
The 3 main tips in this video are hard work doesn't mean you are getting better. You don't want it as much as you think you do. Lastly, basketball is going to end eventually so start to think about what you are going to do once basketball is done for you. Use basketball to set yourself up, don't let the game use you. As a pro basketball trainer I have seen players make all of these mistakes so many times and I don't want you guys to fall into the same trap. - Sport
imo...
find a mentor, a mom or dad, brother coach..someone who will be brutally honest about your effort, skillset and attitude. listen to this man, he is right about efficient training! i would spend countless hours EVERYDAY shooting and playing hockey, i developed sick hands, but i lacked in other areas because i didnt have someone to tell me what i was WEAK at. i put the endless hours in because i loved the game, but overall my training was not covering all the elements of the game. i didnt have someone to inform what was worth worrying about in a game or training and what wasnt. the best advice i could give a developing amateur athlete...stop comparing yourself to others until you have gained confidence from the results of your training....and find ways to keep it fun!
Great advice!
It’s like a drug. Addicted to finding new ways to grow. When you open up a new box the clock stops, no worries just more work.
An important message for everyone. Not just basketball. Not just young people.
Once you are invested in something and it's part of your identity it's really hard to reevaluate, stop and move unto something else.
About hard work. For must things in life hardwork is "necessary but not sufficient".
Very true 💯💯
coach i got a question my left hand isn't that good should i just be working on my all around game or just my weaknesses until they get good
also i know that this is a lot but if you can go through it give me recommendations and tip on what i should improve that would be greatly appreciated
is this good work or bad work
i usually set my training up with ball handling then finishing then some pick and roll like live action then finish up with shooting i am also 14 so im wondering if this is good
these are the stuff i do
Basketball live action pick and roll : 10 shots each drill
Warm up finishing: Show the ball finish
Reverse
Baseline floaters
Live action: Coming off the screen and attacking downhill floaters and extended lays
Reject the screen pull ups or finishes
Hedge the screen the drive or pull up
Come off the screen pull up
Ball handling: 1 minute each
In and out dribble inside hand reverse it switch to to other hand
Pound v cross between behind and then switch opposite
Double behind the back into under the legs and then switch opposite
Two lazy crossovers into quick btl
In and out anchor
Cuff: in and out single hand through front of the leg around the other leg wrap around the back
Pound: freestyle pound a ball that's deflated
Ball control: freestyle dribble max effort
Levels: do combo moves first 20 second at chest and as wide as you can second 20 seconds waist height bringing it in a little closer third 20 seconds get down to knee level so now everything is tight
Pace: do a combo move but at different percentages so 10, 20, 30, 40 etc
Shooting:
1 dribble pull up 5
Form shots 10
Hesi shots 5
Step back 5
Speed stop 5
Catch n shoot 10
Inside outside 5
Wing to corner/corner to wing 5
free throws 10
Finishing: 5 each
Reverse
Inside hand
Extended
Floaters
Spin move
High pick up
Low pick up
Tuck
Veer
Euro step
thanks brother I've been in that situation, thanks for the intel I hope I get a chance to go play pro
you give very good advice and everything you said is true
Thank you for this advice, im a high school sophomore going into my junior year and im working 2 jobs to save for a trainer at the start of july. But here in sacramento it's a lot less exposure, and im really worried about my future with basketball.
Try to get on a circuit team for exposure
i look at this game of basketball so much differently now great video 📝
Thank you
Thanks man, I am training hard to make my JV team and this put a lot of stress off my chest about worrying that im not gonna make it. Will be improving on what I'm not the best at but I will be focused on other life skills I have for my future :).
Good attitude to have, keep working, and check out our off season transformation program that’ll really help you improve
thanks i really needed this video
💪🏼
3:20 love that you pointed that out something i can take pride in is that i only use my phone to film my self i don't have instagram or tiktok and i don't text anyone really i have seen so many people who just do some fucking lazy shooting or start something that is really challenging and then after a couple of minutes they just sit in their phone like a bitch and use their headphones i'm not staying in the gym for 8 hours but ik i get good work in by doing things that are challenging me that i hate so bad i dont live in the us so college is not something that i have and i'm trying to think about the life after hoops would like to hear what do you think i should do
I love to hear that, good for you and keep working
I've been doing shooting workouts on your channel for a while now and i was wondering, how long do you do youe workout till you switch to other workouts? Or does it stay the same?
Very much depends, need to adjust constantly to keep it challenging but still focused on the same concepts
Preciate you man!
You one of the realest out there frl
I really appreciate that. Try to keep it real with yall
How can I stop being a role player?
You should ask your coach and your teamate. They are the one you need to convince (beside yourself first).
Also don't fall into the nba media narrative "just a role player". There is more of them so role player's salary are less but to win as a team you need all the right guy. For example, if you have to much scorer and not enough 3 and D guy your probably not the best team you can be.
Trust yourself and practice more. More practice means more confidence and more confidence automaticly makes you less of a role player. You gotta work for it and earn it tho
Whatever you’re best at doing, do it at a extremely high level to where you’re the X factor
Basically to sum up your video, is just work and grind smarter
essential and start to plan for after basketball, use basketball to help set up your life, not the other way around
As in prepare for after a 20 year basketball career
Where does one find a trainor
4:14 this is such facts
💯💯
do u have camps
Hey coach, I’m 14 going to freshman year and I wake up at 6:00 to go practice my weaknesses while trying to implement them in game like situations, then I go to summer practice for hs, then do workouts with an ex d1 athlete but I’m 5’6 with no trainer and not in any circuit not getting noticed, what can I do better?
I would focus on your strengths in the morning. I would only spend 15 or so minutes per day focusing on your weaknesses. But keep finding people to train with and know exactly what you need to improve on your game
How do I practice a strength in trying to find my some but I can’t be specific enough
im 5,8 with a 6,4 wingspan at 14. and i struggle to use my length to my advantage. can you help me and should i work on the basics
That is definitely a blessing, play against defense often and you’ll grow into your frame. Get in the weight and be consistent
@-uv/hvtrs8%2F-wuw%2Cymuvu%60e%2Ccmm-cjalngl-UAN%60YcyO6FVez34kDzD%5DZILS thanks. should i work on like euro steps, hesi pulls, pull up jumpers, catch and shoot 3s, finishing with contact. or the basics. cause im not good
If you havent played basketball for more that 9 months just satrt with the basics until they become too easy @@slim856
Coach where do you do training. Cause I live in Vegas so I was wondering if I could try and train with you?
He’s from mass
Massachusetts, if you could get out here great or you can train with me virtually
@@tjltraining I can try and train with you virtually.
hey how du I start to stand out as a player in euro basketball everybody is very good at most aspect's of basketball I am only the best in the struck part everting ells is good but not on the same level (its my 2th year of pleing basketball)
Find something you can be great at and focus most of your time in that area, that is fastest way to stand out while improving any obvious weaknesses that can be exposed

Im 19 and an international 6’6 guard who’ve got a full scolarship at a d1 juco. Ill be a freshman with 4year of eligibility and wanting to transfer d1 after.Idk how to take this video do you think I should stop?
No you definitely have lots of time ahead of you, just maximize it and then still look forward to your next steps and how you can get there and use basketball to help you
how did u were able to get noticed and receive your offer?
Hey coach, how much for offseason transformation program

Become great at something
I am also 5'9 at 14 and I can also dribble decently, can score in paint , can sometimes also shoot 3s but my defense is terrible pls get by me easily what should I do
Your environment out side is maybe the most important think ...
my confidence be like: 📉📉
As a 12 year old what am I supposed to do but stay in the gym for 6 to 8 hours I cant get a membership and lift and I suppose I can watch film
Get in and train for 90 minutes straight and then either leave, play pick up for a bit or go do something else
Hey Coach,I’m 18 years old and i love very much basketball and i just started and I don’t in a team yet plus i don’t have a partner to work together so i can work only alone, what advice’s and tips would you you give me pls?
Know what you need to work on, pick 1-3 things you need to focus on and find ways to constantly challenge yourself in those areas. Also would follow our off-season program to have a structured plan
@@tjltraining Thank you very much i have also another question,How do i improve my condition and not getting tired fast on the basketball court
@@roy7590sprinting and long distance running
@@roy7590Ik he hasn’t responded yet but I would say probably the most important things would be to make sure you eat right so your body can function as best as it can and also to make sure ur always hydrated by drinking water because your body can’t do anything well when it’s dehydrated
@@roy7590also start running(mostly longer distances like miles because sprints won’t really help you buld any stamina, it will only help with speed) and doing other exercises that help improve your stamina. Also make sure your body gets plenty of rest by sleeping good at night. Hope this helps a little bro.
How can I know if my drills and workouts are actually working?
Don’t try and make your own workouts use some from a trainer. TJL vision driven and by any means are my favorites
check out our off season transformation program you'll know its working. Real progress shows up in games, if you aren't improving your performance in games the training isn't working
@@tjltrainingi definitely recommend the workout its perfect
@@NBAFAN928facts thsoe guys got me hella good just in one year of actually
hooping, this summer i’m gonna train everyday tryna make a college team
I was agreeing with you for the most of the video but then you said “the people who are cheap and going to the free coache’s” the way you keep talking bout paying coaches so you can achieve your potential how can you be so greedy. like paying coaches its NOT the only way to reach your potential you just tryna increase your income 🤦🏾♂️
Did I say that was the only way, no, is that usually a necessary step, yes, the best coaches/teachers/doctors don’t work for free so if you want the best be willing to pay up. You can get free but what you get for free usually won’t be of great value..
What if you can't afford dieticians, trainers, etc?
Work if you can to afford it if you are trying to maximize your improvement.
@@tjltraining Any alternatives for those who can't afford it regardless of work?
@@farhansarkar2394 you can find almost all the info you need if you search hard enough on google or buy a virtual program or plan like we have for $30 a month
