  • My latest method for cleaning records. Using dent pullers and label protectors, wash in warm soapy water, tap rinse, second rinse with distilled water. Vacuum using Karcher window cleaner

Love it. That sink was made for washing records! Where did you get those perfectly sized suction clamps?

Thanks - the auction devices are car dent pullers - 118mm diameter is the closest approximation to a record label, from Amazon

@@jives11 purchased a couple of suction cups yesterday, and tried out the technique.
I recently received some 50 year old records that were never deep cleaned, and sounded very crackly & jumpy. I took a soft ‘shaving foam’ type brush and gently applied diluted washing liquid in a circular motion, left the suds on the surface for 5 minutes and repeated the brushing, after which I used my sinks shower attachment to wash it all off. I then used your method of spraying on some distilled water and gentle squidgy off. Final dry with a micro fibre cloth and wow, all the records came out looking & more importantly sounding like new! It’s my first dabble with vinyl & I was close to packing the turntable away because of the dodgy sound quality, but after a proper calibration & super clean vinyl (thanks to your method) I’m really enjoying the sound now.

    Are you using tap water?

Yes, then I rinse the tap water with distilled water

    Where's the "ultrasonic" part?

at 1:05 I use my Charles Atlas "Dynamic tension"™ technique to vibrate the record vigorously in the water. Sometimes I also tap out a drum solo on the handle while the record is submerged, using the spoon as a stick .
