    Luna reminds me of Gracie a kitten I found in the middle of a busy road in the middle of winter her ears were frostbitten and the vet took the rest of them off she could barely eat was scared to go outside but she was the sweetest kitten I don’t know why people just throw animals out she was differently to little to get there by herself but me being a sucker for of animals I brought her home and she lived until she was 19 😊 p.s I have more tc plants coming the first ones are doing great so far 😊

    I've started over three times with the halo micans. Mine are just trailing down so the leaves are still small, but they're all variegated because I removed all the reverted leaves.

      @@plantsbymelissa I took apart my Adansonii Narrow Form. It was just one long vine and I started it as an experiment, but with how fast those plants grow and how much internodal spacing they have I fell out of love with the idea of having it on a moss pole. The plant I took the vine from is currently growing up my wall and I love the look of that. The vine on the moss pole ended up rooting at the base and directly in the middle so I was able to chop it in half and have 2 rooted pieces to stick back into the original plants pot. So I was happy with the end result overall. I'm glad you ended up happy with yours as well. 😁 It also just wasn't rooting at all of the nodes, instead the nodes were rotting off. So weird. I still have my marble queen on a pole and I will never take that one down. Lol. I checked on it and it's actually rooting wonderfully into the pole. Woo hoo!!

    Love the Micans and yes the Halo I have tends to look cute but still sparse. It will fill in really good full pot. Of course you had to give it a try on a moss pole. You are a moss pole queen 👑! 💖

    Thank you for providing this video. I’ve been thinking about converting a scrawny looking moss pole micans philodendron, but was hesitant. You’ve taught me so much! I didn’t realize roots could dry rot 😱 and I didn’t realize there could be dead nodes that have already put out growth. I didn’t realize it was ok to trim the roots from cuttings. Wow! Thanks so much! ❤❤❤

    I have always loved philodendron micans but I’m super fearful to purchase a halo for these exact reasons of variegation and also selfishly wanting it to have more outer white! I appreciate it in others collections but I think I would struggle with it in mine but you definitely make me want to invest in a cutting just to see what happens! I love the trailing decision with it forsure! Your literally my favorite person and definitely one that influences me! 👏🏼😂

    I enjoyed watching, and it’s an interesting dilemma because I have a tendency to avoid climbers that need poles. (I have a giant Monstera with two moss poles that don’t really seem to benefit the plant as much as I thought they would.) I have two😊 Micans, a beautiful bronze, which seems to grow faster, and a regular one. I have them on trellises, but some of the bits seem to want to trail and that’s fine also.💗

    Do you reuse your moss? If so, do you do anything special to it to make sure it is safe to use again?

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  Před 10 měsíci +2

      I will reuse it for some of my props that I am keeping for me or if it's for wetsicks but I don't do anything with it 😬 you could definitely boil it to sanitize it but that's too much for me to do lol.

    Did you ever make an update video on this? I wanna know how the cuttings and wet sticks did! Did any of the reverts get the halo variegation back?
    It’s so weird to me that I can’t find any examples of mature halo micans specimens. Yours is probably the largest I’ve seen. Are they that unstable?

  • @tabsg.7130

    I´m not sure about the "dead node". I remember the epipremnum that you got online with a "dead node" and it grows very well. And I think I also cutted twice at some nodes and they also shooted again. Plants are amazing and I think they can reshoot even is the node was already activated?

    • @Pineapplerain

      I’m confused about this too because wouldn’t the new stem/leaf that grew from the first axillary bud create its own axillary bud?

    So this may be a dumb question but now 2 of my Thiccly poles are starting to yellow on the bottom and when I look it's a giant root ball because when the pole is in the pot the roots can't go down and get clogged trying to go out of the bottom front that's in soil. Am I doing something wrong??
