    Great video, such amazing animations - thank you for sharing them! I really liked the idea of Austin's live streams - is that something you would ever consider? It'd be good to watch an entire process in real time and see things that are often cropped out of pre-recorded tutorials, e.g. your process of figuring out how to animate something complex, watching your workflow in realtime, or seeing any mistakes made and how you handle them etc.

    • @toxibeet
      @toxibeet Před 2 lety +1

      @@BenMarriott how do you think the work like this is distributed in those large teams?

    • @btn237
      @btn237 Před 2 lety +5

      @@toxibeet in any manner of ways. Could be that specific tasks are taken care of by specialists (illustrators illustrate, animators animate, editors edit and so on), or different sections might be handed to specific artists to work on. Or a combination of both. The larger the project the more granular specialisms will be e.g character animation is a specialism, visual effects is another specialism, compositing, art direction, graphic design, and so on.

    • @toxibeet
      @toxibeet Před 2 lety +1

      @@btn237 interesting! I almost always work on similar projects by myself or animating somebody’s designs. But since lots of shots are smoothly transitioning one to another, I’m wondering how would two animators work on them… I’ve never worked in big studios.

    • @btn237
      @btn237 Před 2 lety +3

      @@toxibeet it’s definitely a challenge if all the scene transitions are seamless. I’ve actually undertaken such a clip where, even though there was only two of us working on the project, the work needed to be divided in such a way that we both work on all the scenes. In some cases there was no hard cut between scenes. It’s good if you can set a seamless project up in such a way where there are separate scene files, because most software is terrible at allowing two people to work in a project file at once (it’s certainly easier though if your software of choice is better at doing that). If you study closely you’ll probably be able to find locations in these clips where there could be a mask from one section to the next. Or they might be using similar tricks from live action to disguise edits in what appears to be one seamless take (lens flares, fast pans or other occlusions for example). On the project I mentioned before, those are the sorts of things we did, where you find way for one ‘scene’ to end and the next begin, with some overlap in the action and camera motion.

It is just a very simplified and limited 3D software that runs in the browser. If you think you're going to be able to animate complex scenes with this tool you are wrong.
