- In this video, I show you my workflow with the 9Barista, using a little gas camping stove. This way, it finishes in about 5 minutes. With my electric stove, it takes between 7-9 minutes, depending on the heat level. Enjoy!

Thanks for watching, comments welcome!
I so want one of those. 100% gadget appeal. 22nd Century mocha.
I love your videos. Do you review coffee grinders? If so, I'd love to see a review of Star Seeker Edge Plus 63mm Conical and other large conical burr grinders.
excelent 👌
Great innovation for stove top espresso, but at ~ $500 a bit pricey. For that price one could get a proper semi-automatic machine. BTW, excellent choice of "Für Elise" for background music.
Yea price is insane
Hey Tom, could you take a look on the Ariete 1380 espresso machine. I just bought it, and i dont know what to think.
Thank you for your videos🔥
Howdy! To be honest, I'd go for a Dedica. In Europe they're around 150 euros. That's a sweet deal in my book. Ariete is AFAIK a white label machine from China.
I do it exactly the same way except with a 1Zexpresso K-Ultra and an induction stove and I get great results event with light roasted coffee but I have to grid super fine (around 23 clics) and go as low as a 13g dose for some coffees. It takes like 1' to 1'30" of extraction but thats the only way I have found to get good tasting light roasted expresso. Maybe you can figure out a better way though. For darker roast I was able to go for a dose of around 20g of coffee. You mentioned that the max was 18g but I think the included and IMS baskets are actually 18-20g ones if I remember correctly.
Not sure about the included basket, but from 9Barista the IMS basket model is B652TH27.5M - according to their website, this is a 15/17g basket. In any case, I plan to use the thing on my induction stove at some point, so thanks for the tips :)
Thanks for those tips! Interesting ideas for the light roast. I'll have to give it a shot. Cheers!
This thing is incredibly neat. I'm always wondering if it's better to for this, a Flair 58/Cafelat robot, or a similarly espresso machine.
Flair 58 100% not even close
@@mrbloody562 what makes you say so?
Flow control and finess are tools that aren't included with the rest
Robot user, much better than the flair for workflow and cleanup. Doesn’t need preheat except for light roasts
@@MayanPatel1 the Robot is my strong preference, partially for the way it looks and partially because I don't like the way the Flair's lever looks like it unevenly distributes force.
I keep forgetting to say "excellent" whenever I tamp. I must include that in my workflow. Maybe I could modify an Easy Button to say it..and the button takes exactly 30 lbs of pressure to activate. I'll call it the 'Excellent Tamp Button'.
That's a good idea :)
hello, first of all congratulations for the always very interesting videos... I wanted to ask you something: I have seen your video several times on the excellent ecp3531, and since I was offered an ecp 3121 at a low price, what do you think? does it work the same way? Thank you
Yes, the 3121 is the same, but with a plastic drip tray and fascia. Cheers!
thanks😀@@TomsCoffeeCorner
Always wondered, is there any distinguishable difference between latte, cappuccino and flat white prepared with moka and espresso machine?
That's a very good question I would like to know the answer to as well. I will abstain from answering since I rarely make milk drinks, and when I do, using "real" milk is even rarer ;)
Does it help speed the process or cause a problem to fill with hot water?
Not sure, probably. But they recommend cold water...
The black shower screen: is it metal or plastic? And what's the total pressure?
It feels like silicone to me. Cheers!
So does the coffee taste like it is extracted at 205, 3:1 over 40 seconds?
It didn't taste bitter, if that's what you mean. For me, the shots have been quite well balanced, chocolate notes, low astringency, although not a ton of sweetness yet. Could be the beans I'm using right now though. Gotta try some more. The temp is supposed to be right at 93 degrees, or 199 F, but that's hard to measure. What I did measure is the upper water chamber which cools the water in the heat exchanging coils. That's just under 99 C.
Cheers!
No, I did not mean bitter, just a hint of late extraction flavors - reminds me too much of office drip coffee!
I find my medium+ roasts all taste fine at temps below 200F as long as I do not leave them in contact with the water for too long. I was concerned this device was raising the temp above that, which it does not seem to be doing.

17 grams in - 46 grams out? How come it's any good?
Normally I got around 38 grams out - maybe the gas heat allowed for more water to make it through the process. Idk, I find this thing makes pretty balanced shots so far, nice notes of chocolate and a lack of astringency, which can sometimes happen when the temp isn't stable. I feel like the parameters on this thing are remaining quite stable thoughout the extraction. At least that's my feeling.
The device sells for $499, not including a list of optional accessories. Instead, I placed a 58 mm puck screen behind the top screen of my 4-cup moka pot and sandwiched a piece of coffee filter between the two screens. I preheat the water in the moka pot (just like in the video) while I prepare the puck. The result lacks crema but does not lack the thick, rich flavor. Poor man's 9Barista.
Nice, thanks for sharing!
9Barista or Bambino Plus?????? Hmmmmm
Bambino for me. It's just so much easier to make multiple drinks, and milk foam too.
Good for portable use,if you go for camping but want a good espresso..for regular home use machines are better
And it’s not inexpensive coming in at $500.
New that is true - but if you can get refurbished (not always in stock) you can save quite a bit. Here in Europe it's something like $80, in the US you might save over $100.
