What a banger this one was. I really have always liked Shane Embury’s buzzsaw bass playing and this album is a good example of why.
I particularly liked the Bad Brains cover.

When the heaviest metal band of the 80s is fronted by Barney the Dinosaur:

"Napalm Death made an extravagant 8-course meal out of leftovers at the back of your fucking fridge. What more do you need to know?"
    Amen, brother.

Napalm Death have been on a roll now for at least 20 years, and this mini album is no exception.. Killer stuff as usual!

I must get up to date with ND as I know nothing of theirs after Utopia Banished…
But I just started getting up to date with Voivod in the wake of their new release since I knew nothing after Dimension Hatröss (Nothingface and Angel Rat have got their first spin yesterday).

I've never really listened to much Napalm Death but I want to start at some point. They're playing a show near me in a few weeks and tickets are still available and pretty cheap. I'm tempted to go just to experience it as the venue is great, what do you recommend?

I say go for it! Napalm Death is so much fun live. Seen them on 3 occasions with Cannibal Corpse, Voivod, and GWAR respectively.
Check out this album as well and some classic stuff like "Scum" and "Harmony Corruption" as well, great entry points into Napalm Death's sound and style.

Just go. You won't regret it. One of the biggest and greatest bands on the planet

@The Metal Meltdown Yeah I think I may have to go. Seems unlikely I'll regret it unless I get killed it the pit. But I think I need to check out Harmony Corruption, that one is a bit more on the death metal side than grind isn't it? Not quite Utopia Banished but getting there?

@@alfie.6652 Yeah its preeetty much a full blown death metal album, and a damn good one at that.

@The Metal Meltdown Damn! Just realised I'm seeing Tangerine Dream that night! Quite different to Napalm Death but I love that band so I guess ND will be something for the future..

Tried it today, Napalm Death in the Gym fucking works. This is like Throes part 2. The fact that most of these songs were deemed not “good enough” to be put on throes of joy in the jaws of defeatism shows the insane amount of quality that Napalm Death still has left in the tank 4/5.
Now as for new Voivod tbh…….. it is EASILY one of their best albums and imo might be a masterpiece. I seriously love the production. Chewy’s guitar work is so catchy and so incredibly dissonant Piggy would be proud. The interplay with the bass Drums, Guitar is fantastic. Snake still sounds awesome. It’s a REALLY strong 4.5/5, it could easily change to a 5/5.
It’s insane how this deep in their careers that Napalm Death and Voivod are releasing some of their best work Period. The only other bands that imo are doing the same thing and putting out some of their best material in modern years is Enslaved, CC and Carcass. What Napalm Death and Voivod are doing is nothing short of Incredible.
Thank you for reading through my Ted Talk about my pretentious, annoying Love letter to both Napalm Death and Voivod. Thank you and have a good day.

They should've called it "Seismic Resentment", easier to say and remember, less pretentious. Other than that, glad they are still slaying.
