The Wildfire That Almost Took the LZ Compound

  • Yesterday - a little smoke quickly became a major concern as a 25+ acre wildfire started just across the street of the compound. Having to leave everything you've worked your whole life toward with no control over a bad situation is not a good feeling. Thank you all for your thoughts and concern - and the fire fighters/law enforcement who saved the day and kept everyone safe.

Crazy how real that felt, you see wildfires every year around the world and think nothing of it. Your videos make it feel like we are a part of the LZ team and seeing the compound come so close to being lost, puts into perspective how as a community you have made us feel as if the compound is something WE all should take pride in and losing it would be as if we lost something of our own, for those who have supported since the beginning. You keep putting in the work, and we'll keep supporting!

Yo Adam Talk to Cleetus and get a Water tank. He set up one for the Freedom Factory. Also See if you can find a secondhand firetruck like what Cleetus did. I am glad you guys are ok and also the compound. You should put Irrigation all alongside the compound driveways that way you can switch it on throughout the entire compound and basically flood the grass and trees and bush on the compound. It may slow a fire and that's a good way for you guys if that ever happens again to know you have time to get out if ever it was worse. you should also see if the fire department can come to the compound and train everyone in how to evacuate in quick time. Again I'm glad everyone was safe and also the compound.

Man that was crazy... I survived a house fire in 2013.. Barely made it out with my 2 kids in my arms... Lost everything including 2 dogs but we survived! It really shows you what is important... Things can be replaced (even tons of expensive cars) but people can't! I'm glad that yall all made it out and none of the things that you have worked so hard to buy went up in flames!!!

Great job Mike, fire department and everyone at the compound 👏 👍 👌 glad you all are ok an the LZ compound is good. Adam you should get an old fire truck 🚒 for your compound maybe from the freedom factory, and you can make a fire break in the wood's around the compound to help gain access for fire trucks.

As a FF myself, I can wholeheartedly say you guys did an outstanding job at bugging out within a small time window, especially considering bushfires aren't a common thing in Florida. Being from Australia, I can say you guys did a better job than most of the people who live here that deal with bushfires almost every year. Well done to you all and stay safe for the next week until it's all cooled down! might pay to look into a fire break around the compound and some sort of last defence system (e.g/ sprinklers, retardant foam etc.) in case this happens again

Always make sure the drone is grounded before fire department vehicles show up. We run into it every year in California. If they see a drone, they have to call off air support until they know it is out of the sky. Just a helpful tip for anyone who sees a fire and investigates with a drone.

as a local to you, you may want to contact division of forestry and have them do an assessment of your land for fire break lines (like those roads, helps prevent fires from crossing/jumping to other areas) , possibly controlled burns of underbrush which is like kindling for an unexpected fire , and maybe even consider buying an off-road water pumper truck with hose reels if you were slightly paranoid about it but bonus is more content making .
