being from England and never having much exposure to western riding, I always thought it seemed very harsh and to be honest I wasn't a fan for a very long time. Watching this video and seeing how down to earth and dedicated you are to these horses has honestly really changed my perception of it- it's fantastic to see what fantastic lives these animals have and finding your channel has made me feel a lot more educated on reining, you've really warmed me up to it. Keep up the good work.
Isabella Shorrock You have NO idea how happy this makes me!! Thank you SO much for subscribing! 🤙🏾😎〽️
@@mattmillsreining1 Only honest! I'm very glad to hear that and I'm really enjoying watching these videos, brilliant rider with a brilliant channel 👏👏
@@belleventing2327 Some western is very harsh. Some isn't. Really just depends on the people
"This guys' favorite of mine"..pat..pat..SLAP!!

Coming from Fallon Taylor's channel. What beautiful horses.
Thanks Mr. Matt!! Every time I watch one of your videos, it makes me wanna get my boots on and go work with Miss Buckette (Chics Sparklin Star) 😁 We've both been working with some issues, but I'm determined to get through them! Some of your suggestions have worked WONDERS! THANK YOU!!
jksizretired, THATS WHAT I LOVE TO HEAR!! Get to it!! 💪🏾💯〽️
Randomly came across this vlog and loved it. What's more funny is that I just started watching Yellowstone a few days ago and last night I watched the episode with the horses sliding! Loved all the animals. 🙂
Jordans Words, that scene was SO much fun to shoot! Rip and Jimmy actually did their own stunts that day!! Thanks for watching ! 😎💪🏾〽️
Wow super nice setup and all the animals are top condition. God bless
Thanks for the kind words! Thx for watching
Thank you for the tour!!
I love Peaches centerfold music!! 😂😂😂. Do a little hair flip!!
Beth Zambone. Welcome!! 😂😂💯〽️
Really nice horses and facility. Great advice on gelding the studs. Love those long manes. Taking them out i. The desert and turning out will have a huge impact when it is time to go back to work. They do know their jobs!!Thanks for sharing!!
Never regretted gelding one. Sometimes it's hard to make that call but once it's done all gets better!! Thanks!
Matt Mills Like you said glad you made that call. Carmine works better w/o all
That testosterone to mess with. He may prove to be a great gelding way more than he would have been as a distracted stallion, one good run and a bunch of not so good runs because of stud attitude is not worth keeping him intact.
Rocking G Fingers crosses! 🤞🏾looking pretty goof right now.
This seemed very transparent. Nice!
Trying to keep it real, you know?? Thanks for saying that!
Thank you for this!
Beautiful horses
i LOVE this boy!!
You always have the best videos and content! If you're looking for more video ideas I think it would be interesting to see a favorites video: saddles, saddle pads, cinches, leg wraps ect. Keep up the good work!
This video was pretty fun to watch and see a bunch of different horses in ur barn! But I think Carl was my favorite!!
HorseGirl _ Carl’s not a bad choice!! 💯😎〽️
Love the videos and the editing was cool like how you did that keep it up🤙
Andrew Brenhaug, thanks Boss! We do what we can! 💪🏾💯〽️
I really liked this clip! Im a dressage person and i can only imagine the horses cantering circles and doing tempis. But braiding those manes would break me! Beautiful horses!
Katie Rowe, it’s quite the process! 😂🤙🏾〽️
You have a great eye for talent and its obvious how much you love them !
This channel is GREAT!!!!
Expensive ass barn and horses !!! Beautiful
Why thank you !
Thanks for sharing! Greetings from Amsterdam!
My horse had a fungus like that too. It cleared up pretty good. The hair took quite awhile to grow back though.
Stoney is beautiful. I love duns and buckskins. My horse is a dun and is so golden. It’s cool, but i like his color more.
Sliding Into Everyday, he’s a pretty special individual! 😎💯〽️
Very enjoyable. Would love a video that tours the property it looks like a beautiful place.

Matt it was great meeting you and your wife when my wife and I were there visiting with Tim. It is amazing how you manage so many horses along with such a great facility. All of your horses are in such great condition with long manes and shinny coats. Could you do a video of your feed, supplement and coat maintenance routine? Thanks for all the videos and content you supply!
Eric Clayton, thanks man! You too. I will get that on the list of topics for the future! 💯💯〽️
So very glad to hear that so many of your colts are allowed to mature a bit before being gelded! Those hormones are needed for proper growth and development! Beautiful animals.
We do the best we can...
They are beautiful
Thanks! And great to be around!
I watched you in the road to a million, I thought it was funny when Andrea always beat you to the horse lol. You have great horses so pretty!!
I’m glad you enjoyed the show and more importantly our horses! 😎💯〽️

Well thank you! My parents raised me right! 😉. Thank you so much for subscribing! 💯〽️

😎
I would love to see what you look for in reining horses (in terms of confirmation, height, how forward they ride, etc). I have no knowledge on reining or western so it would be super interesting
Jazzy, that’s a GREAT TOPIC that I will definitely hit in the future. Thank you!
Matt thank you for sharing your beautiful barn! Are y’all still at place you were during the tv show? Training for the same owners? So glad to hear that you give these guys turn out time. I so agree that it’s a must for their mental health. Do y’all ever do any light trail riding? So good for them too
haha Tracy, did you watch my 2nd vlog? We went on a little trail ride to The Ruckmans!! Yes we are at the same place, ITCHING to get back to that Run For The Million to get some redemption!!〽️
Stone is one good looking boy!
Lovely Lisa Warrior Queen, and he’s not just a pretty face! He can back it up in the performance arena as well! I’ve got a couple of his competition runs on my channel. Please check em out! 💪🏾💯〽️

*I’m literally DROOLING as I look at this facility and all the horses.* 🤤 *I miss working with horses e v e r y single day. Even mucking out and grooming horses is enjoyable to me...* 🤷🏻♀️
Heather Mefford, LOL! I drool all day too! 🤣🤙🏾〽️
I am right there with you Heather. I will muck out stalls and groom horses for free just to be around them
Cool vlog
rrr rrr, thanks! Fun to let you all see a little of what I get to do! 🙏💯〽️
Ex reiners make great barrel horses, have had a few
Bonnie Calhoun, I believe it! 🤙🏾〽️
Randomly stumbled on this vid, half way through hit that Subscribe button because I want to see and learn more! Nice clean, organized barn. Just a FYI...never love slap a horse or a woman, neither appreciate it. I know, I know...it just seems like a natural gesture to show your affection, but a nice rub will get you further with both! (And ALL horses love that wither scratch thing you did!)😄
PJ Celeste 😉 thank you SO much for subscribing! I’m so fortunate to be around these guys all day!
Time for a new tour. 😉
thanks for the video! try vetasan for that fungus. it is a chlorhexidine cream from kinetic vet. works awesome!
Love your videos. I’d give my right arm to own any one of them.
Jeanne Petrillo, I know what you mean! 🤣. I’m just so grateful I get to ride them! 👊🏾〽️〽️
Extremely Outstanding 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😀🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🖐🏽
Trying to keep it real! 💯😎〽️
I love to see you ride but I sad when you didn't do well in Vegas. You guys got to do another episode of Yellowstone.
I want to come hangout with Carmine and make him a chill pony.....ill even bring the hippie flowers for his hair....ha ha ha
Nannette Purcell, LOL!! 😎🤙🏾〽️
You have nice and beautiful horse
What is on the white board, what brand is it or did you guys make it?
Ha when Matt talked about cutting him he looks like( Yeah he did ) 😂 beautiful horses 🐴
What advice would you have for starting from the beginning with no reining experience?
That was great. Love your facility and the horses are just stunning.
Matt, how long does it take to braid the manes like you do? How often should it be done?
I am assuming that helps growth?
Thx much, from Texas. ❣️🍀
So depends on how long they are. We redo them a minimum of once a week. Takes about 20-45 min depending on the braider! 🤙🏾💯〽️
Looovveedd this vlog. Beautiful horses! They look pampered asf lol. #spoiled
Lmfao, yes they are!! But why not if you can?
Wonderful barn sir! I will soon be in process of building a barn. Would you be so kind to say how your barn was made? What materials were used for construction?
Thanks for watching! It’s an MD Barn.
So cool to be able to see all of the horses and your facilities. I am a bloodline junkie so what was the sire & dam on the mare again?
We’ve got some good ones! I’m assuming Blondie? She’s a Wimpys Lil Step out of Ms Lil Addytude
Thanks for the quick reply. Should have known she was a Wimpy with that pretty head and color. 😊
Ok so I’m totally curious about your horse with the alfalfa allergy! I have a three year old with similar symptoms and is on a predominantly alfalfa diet. I honestly have never thought about her having an allergy to it! She also seems more gassy than the average horse which also could be allergy related. Going to look more into that!
It was like going on a wild-goose chase. Don't give up til you get an answer!! Took several vets before we got to the bottom of it! Good luck
I just found you!! What size are your stalls? What do u have on the floor (or type of floor) under the shavings? What type of water system is that in the stalls? I'm looking to build a barn this summer. Nothing.
Awesome! Thx for subscribing. 12 x 12 stalls with rubber mats under the shavings. Nelson automatic waterers! Good luck on your barn!
Dang so close..I want to know what's on your training board and how it's set up!
Donaye Smith it’s got all my horses names, Days of the week, farrier, vet. Will try to show it next time! 👊🏾💯〽️
How do you get your horses mane so long?? Please let me know
That Pali likes you messing with his forelock 😂 I think you said his name is Rio
That Dun Done Dunnit, 😉😎👍🏾🤣
There's a lot of haters in these comments damn let this man be great
I appreciate you! Thanks for watching! 👍🏾💯〽️
It's true they just get hating on any horse post. People share beautiful horses and stables , I would delete and block them.
Do you prefer geldings to studs, Matt? I can appreciated a well trained horse through and through but I've never felt like I could fully trust a stud. They have that little bit of "edge" that makes me just a bit more aware of what they're doing around me, especially on the ground lol.
Cool
I think so to!
Nice barn and horses but the big question is how do you get all the horses mane to be that long
Willie Mitchell, 🤣. Very carefully! Lol mostly genetics. But we do shampoo n condition once a week
So you do you take straws off them then gasterate them...great vids
Thanks for watching. Sometimes we do that. Not on this horse
Carl is gorgeous!
plousia And he’s quite the character!
Gourgous 🐎 s!😘
Nita Valdez, thanks!! 🤙🏾😎💯
Greet from Tyrol /Austria
Corinna Fischbacher thanks for watching! 😎〽️
Is it to hot to have pastures
I am a horse lover, never really done more than love them from afar. I have a question. I have just started watching your videos, and you have in two days mentioned several horses were recently castrated. These were mature stallions. I am wondering was this done late so you got the full growth potential of a stallion, then wanted to settle them down while in competition? Could you explain what you are trying to achieve and if there is a reason to do it so late?
So those stallions were not mature. They were 3 years old. They were castrated because they were beginning to become to aggressive and unruly. So rather than continue having to reprimand them all the time. We chose to simplify their life by eliminating the testosterone.
@@mattmillsreining1
Good enough, thank you. I should have said "adult" - meaning they had their full physical growth on them, not mature, as that has too many meanings beyond that stage. It is my understanding that waiting for the animal to have it's full growth improves it's potential performance as a neck reining horse (insert the plan for how the animal is to be used) or whatever. Would you agree with that?
How many horses? Wow beautiful
Do you show out at the Congress or only QH World?
I love your horses breeding some of the best breeding
Madeleine Britton, thanks a lot! I’m so fortunate to be doing what I love for a living! 😎💯〽️
Matt Mills I want to train America Quater horses when I am older and allows have they by far the best breed of horses in my mind
Madeleine Britton, that’s a great goal! Go get it! I sure love these quarter horses too! 💪🏾💯〽️
Matt Mills they are the best I have allows had them and always will. I love the freedom of riding and horses have brought me through so much and they have made me a better rider
Madeleine Britton, I love it! 😎
those horse are so flashy, I would like to see them under English saddle in a nice frame
Now that would be something!
It's nice to see quarter horses with that all-around body type. You don't see a lot of it much anymore... especially when you go to the Congress in Ohio.
Aspen Dukes I know right, at congress they have thoroughbred bodies
All those horses are soo stout we have pretty stout horses too
Also finally a barn that understands damn horses! I see the way you guys lead them and the way that guy washed that horse. Y’all actually understand pressure and release.
Olive Shupe 😂💯〽️
Do you mainly have GH,colts? etc.new sub great content brotha keep it up.
