great idea for patties instead of the big loaf type that I have been making. Cuts down on cooking time and saves energy. I learn lots from you. So old dogs can learn new tricks.
We just had dinner an hour ago but you made me hungry ! Don't you find it so rewarding to eat food you've grown and processed yourself ? Y'all be blessed !
Looks absolutely amazing! I've made meatloaf patties before due to lack of time. I put bell peppers in my meatloaf. It gives it a wonderful flavor. My mouth was watering at that cabbage salad. If it wasn't already 9:30 pm I'd go make me some. Thank you for everything you do.
Sarah, I adore the fact that you cut yourself a break and use the microwave, and some 'bought' ingredients. In this day and age, it gives a realistic component to your lifestyle. Every time I watch one of your videos, I try to incorporate bits and pieces into my life. I am striving to get a bit more holistic with my life.
My mom always put oatmeal in her meatloaf. Patties are such a good idea. I don’t put garlic in my meatloaf.....mostly just some season salt.cabbage is great for a salad. I love Cole slaw. It goes great w/meatloaf. Good homemade food.....nothing better! We are blessed to have good at home prepared food! I chopped my cole slaw cabbage very small, and don’t put spices in other than salt/pepper/sugar and oil and vinegar. I like the idea of baking the meatloafs patties in the oven. So smart!! Thanks for a great video!!
Great simple recipes. I will definitely make these. Love the italian style with the cheese and marinara! If you change up the ingredients you can turn them into salisbury steaks with brown gravy. Serve with mashed potatoes. Yum! I'm hungry for meatloaf.
My girlfriend from my college days always used oatmeal in her Salisbury steaks with golden mushroom condensed soup and they were the best I have ever eaten!
Good grief.. I had to watch this at 8 in the morning... now I'll be starving until lunch. That's a fantastic idea for Meatloaf. My son made meatloaf over the summer, and then we grilled slices of it over the charcoal. Man that was awesome too. I need some MEATLOAF !!!
I have been making Italian meatloaf patties for over 20 years. I usually fry mine and they cook up really nice and quick. If I have a lot of meat to use, I just make extra meatloaf patties and freeze them to cook another day. It saves prep time for those busy days and can be cooked frozen.
What a condensed I made meatloaf patties for our dinner too. Paired it with steamed broccoli with a mustard sauce and sauteed asparagus with garlic. Yum yum!
My mom never used a recipe she always said anyone can read a recipe but a truly good cook can prepare great food without one she taught me everything I know sadly some of my mom's great cooking went to the grave with her but she taught me the concepts of cooking I think as long as you know the chemistry you can cook anything..your meal looks delicious
We tried your meatloaf patties last night and oh my word! What a game changer! So much easier than making a loaf and changing to bread crumbs to oatmeal powder made it not as soggy/falling apart. Thank you for sharing your recipe. Will be adding it to our menu.
An idea for a future video: your kitchen appliances! I've LOVED your channel from the VERY early days and have seen your appliance inventory grow. Tell us what you use most and maybe what 2 or 3 you couldn't live without!
I make meatloaf patties too. That salad is called slaw here in NC, I make it similar to that and I like it the next day. Not all slaw has mayo but it must have a fat instead of the mayo. I do sometimes add some canned tomatoes to the cabbage when it is with pork. Yummy! Why do they stop making items that work, someone needs to add that jar opener to their line up of canning supplies!
Sarah, my belated husband used to make meatloaf patties, and cooked them the same way you cook hamburgers, and in fact used to call them hamburgers. LOL. (he was raised during the depression). I usually make what I call, mini meatloafs. Each one is exactly one serving of meat. Great to slice length-wise when cold to make leftover meatloaf sandwiches. Your recipes are great. Blessings.
My dad used to use oats in his meatloaf! Sometimes he’d even cook it loose in a pan by mixing ground beef, onions, bell peppers, oregano and oatmeal in a pan and just stirring it around kind of like sloppy joe. He’d also sometimes add very small diced potatoes, and we’d top it with ketchup when it was thoroughly cooked. I loved it. I like oatmeal better than regular bread crumbs, but my favorite thing to put in meatloaf of meatballs is bread soaked in milk. I just break bread into chunks, soak it in milk for a while, and then put the mushy chunks in with the meat mixture. Makes the juiciest meatloaf I’ve ever had. I like to keep a loaf of bread in the freezer for this.
I like to make my meatloaf into small servings also. It just cooks so much faster! I never thought of doing patties, it would make left over meatloaf sandwiches so much easier.
Moms journey to meatloaf burgers started about 1955..Grandad worked in Washington, DC, and got home at 5:30 every Friday. He stayed during the week with his brother. Granny was running late for dinner, which was meatloaf. Granny had to leave the kitchen as Mom was about to out it in the oven, then an idea hit her...into the frying pan, as burgers, they went. Granny was afraid they wouldn't test good...of course, they were great. So, Mom would make meatloaf, then, the burgers. They taste slightly different, due to the browning on each side. Granny, in the 1950s, used to add pudding and Jello to cake mixes all the time, too. Orange Jello cake and Lemon pudding cake. Always with white icing and fresh coconut.
To heat up your patties even quicker. Brown off the patties in a skillet first, then put them in a pan with a small rack. Put just a little bit of water in the bottom of the pan, and cover with some aluminum foil. Put in the oven on 350°F.. They will be done very quickly, plus, less chance of drying out or burning. This is a really good idea! I'm going to make these very soon!
Good morning Sarah! Ya know what’s missing?.....biscuits, lol 😉 I never thought of doing patty meatloaf...could even make an Italian style burger by slappin’’em on a bun 😁
There's really NO difference between meatloaf and hamburgers! Especially when you get over using only one meat or another for just meatloaf/balls, shepherd's pie/whatever...😉🤷♀️
Trying this recipe for dinner here on the ridge in West Virginia. It smells so good just baking in the oven. I’m using a home made pasta sauce we canned this past summer and the burger is from a steer we processed last weekend. I’m serving it with some rigatoni pasta and we like canned corn with our pasta. Thanks for all the great recipes.
Good wholesome homemade meal, like how use the personal blender to grind the oatmeal' brilluant idea & use of the blender!!! Always admire Your Family for living the way you do so much healthier & fresh. Real People I enjoy watching. With Love from Mission, B.C. 🇨🇦
Hey Sarah, it always makes me feel good to see you using your Pry-Lid. So glad you enjoy it and it is a useful tool for you. I love mine, too, and have been using it a lot, enjoying all the fruits of my fall labor! This dinner looks very yummy, I’ll have to try it!
I love meatloaf. I have only made it a few times for my family. Now my children are not very good at eating their vegetables so I always put them in the meatloaf. I add carrots grated on the fine side. I put green peppers. Sometimes I will put grated pumpkin.
My husband's Italian Grandmother made the Meatloaf. She called them Mixed Hamburgers. I'm going to try topping with mozzarella and marinara sauce. The side dishes sound yummy.
That looks great, I'll have to give that a try soon. We used to make "porcupines." Sort of the same as your meatloaf patties, but we added rice and cooked them in the tomato sauce and add cheese at the end of the cooking time. Ours were formed in large elongated meatballs. Hence the name porcupines, because of the rice sticking out of them, lol!
Hi Sarah ! What a great video! Just too easy with a stalked pantry. Way to go ! I Wanna make this for sure. Good to see ya cooking.. love how you hand measure . Sign of a ‘from scratch’ cook ! Y’alls videos are awesome And you’re doing such a good job ! Leave you with a prayer of blessing for 2020 ❤️🙏
I make the meatloaf hamburger patties too, but I fry mine. I love it when they get nice and brown. It's my husband's favorite meal. In fact, I might make some tonight. I've been wondering what to make out of the rest of the hamburger in my fridge. Great video.
Absolutely delicious looking, I am going to have to try that! I have all the right ingredients albeit not home grown but I wish it were........I will make cabbage casserole tonight however and it is a meal in itself. Sarah your recipes sound delicious and I will surely try them..........how proud and satisfying to have it all off your own labor and land........Blessings!!! I can just see your family loving this dinner!
My household eats low carb/ high fat and we do not eat bread, instead use crushed pork grinds as bread crumbs 😋 SOOO GOOD! Its also called panko but most pre packaged panko has MSG so this works great for us! Recipe looks great I cant wait to try it!
Sarah, I'm a recent subscriber to your channel and enjoy it immensely. Here's a tip on the oils you cook with. The worst place to store them is above the stove top. Also the grocery store oils are all processed and most are not good. Organic avocado oil is pretty tasteless so it's good for things that olive oil is too strong tasting. The processed oils like sunflower, canola, soybean, safflower etc are endocrine disruptive. Damage to our endocrine system can lead to cancer too. So please don't store your oils above the stove. (I did for decades until I found out it's not good). I've been hungry for meatloaf so I'm going to try your patties recipe. I think I'll like it better than a loaf. I wish you all the best in your farm homestead and may 2020 find you happy and healthy and strong throughout the year! God bless you and keep you in His tender care 🙏💖 Evelyn in SC Wisconsin 💖
Great video- I find that meatloaf is one of the most versatile dishes. It is always different , as I use whatever is in the house . I usually use an egg in mine to hold it all together.
Sara I just made this and am Eating it now. So good! I picked lettuce and spinach along with radishes and canned diced tomatoes for a salad. Thanks for idea for my dinner tonight!
That looks so good! I buy a meatloaf mix at my store (pork, veal and beef mix) and make patties, like you. I'll have to try them with a tomato sauce and cheese. Now, I'm hungry..lol. Thank you.😀
I used to make meatloaf muffins. I just put the meatloaf mix in muffin pans with muffin liners, or use silicone muffin pans. Then do your regular recipe and topping. Bakes in a much shorter time.
Sarah, we love chicken parm homemade and I think you stumbled on a beef/pork parmigiana homemade!!! We love making meatloaf muffins, we use the large muffin tins and regular. It cooks up so fast and easy to store and freeze for extra meals. THat cabbage salad is new to us so we are going to try that tonight!!! Love your cooking videos and Kevins baking videos... keep them coming, we love them!!!
I like SO much watching your recipes and campare them with yours. Our vinagrete must have very small chopped tomatos, onion and bell pepper. I Will try your recipe in here, it smeems delicious. God bless you and your family.
I've been making a very similar meatloaf for 35 years only I don't bother to grind my oats. I just dump 'em whole right in with the rest of the ingredients. No one knows they're there. However, I make a big loaf that cooks a long time. I don't know if the shorter cooking time would soften the oats but I'm going to find out next time I make meat loaf. These smaller patties would be perfect for a widow to make and freeze the extra patties.
Hi, new to your channel! I love the farm to table concept, your recipes are so adaptable to different available local ingredients. The garlic roller...pop both cloves in there together! 😃
So glad i have some hamburger in the frige. Have you tried that recipe with 1/2 pork and 1/2 venison...yum yum. Yep super duper dinner. I'm now hungry. Thanks such a great cooling show !!!
Great recipe. I make less sophisticated meat loaf patties for my son and I...we don't need as many, so I just throw four of them in a skillet and in 8-10 minutes, they're on the plate. But, my next ones will be like yours. Can't wait to try that salad too.
I love using oats instead of breadcrumbs. But I don't grind them up, I soak them in the milk (with about 2 tbl extra milk) and put them in whole. Your Italian version of meatloaf looks yummy. Gonna try that. God bless!
I like to add parsley to my meatloaf, dried or fresh, doesn't matter, usually about the same amount as the oregano. Also, instead of bread crumbs, I use crackers. I use what's on hand: saltine, ritz, or stone ground wheat, etc. Either crush them by hand for small chunks, or by blender for small bits. I make patties also, and eat them like a burger with a bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, etc Just a few different ways to try for variety. Yours look awesome. Yummy.
For meatloaf, I do pretty much everything you do, but I also mix in a couple of tablespoons of home-rendered lard or bacon grease and some shredded cheese. Because less isn't more when it comes to meatloaf. It's also a great way to make burgers for the grill. 😁
Those bowls date back to the late '50's & early '60's. I know because I got a set at a wedding shower in 1962. Until the antique collectiong business collapsed they could bring $100 or more on eBay. I have two sets of Homer Laughing Pricilla bowls along with service for 12. The bowls are amazing.
Great meal, Sarah! I’m trying the Whole 30 this month and can have everything you prepared! Thanks for the new ideas...and it’s great to see you happy again!🥰
One of these days you should try drained green beans with butter and lemon pepper. It is the only way my family will eat green beans. It tastes soooooo good that way.
as much as we like meatloaf I never thought of making patties. mmmm bet they would freeze and microwave well ( for when quick dinners are needed) I add a bit of cinnamon to my red sauces... so yummy and good fir you too
great idea for patties instead of the big loaf type that I have been making. Cuts down on cooking time and saves energy. I learn lots from you. So old dogs can learn new tricks.

Thank you, Sarah. Leftovers are always the best. Anything that makes the rest of the week easier I am all for. Love this. :-)
Granny Smith apples grated and sprinkled with lemon juice goes great with shreaded cabbage. Thanks Sarah
That sounds good! I was also thinking cranberries would add some sweet-tartness to the cabbage salad. There are so many options!
Ok My Wife was inspired and made this meal tonight ... She said if I liked it not to thank her but to thank Sarah ... Thanks Sarah

I really enjoyed this. I love the fact that you showed us the making of the entire meal. I wanna try this...ALL of it.
Thanks for the great dinner suggestion! Loving the simple meatloaf patties! Definitely will be trying this out this week along with the cabbage salad!
I love meatloaf. I have only made it a few times for my family. Now my children are not very good at eating their vegetables so I always put them in the meatloaf. I add carrots grated on the fine side. I put green peppers. Sometimes I will put grated pumpkin.

We had leftover turnip green soup tonight but I have everything to make these up for tomorrow sounds delicious. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Dump it till it feels right! That's the best cooking there is.
Happy to hear you mention my cousin's family business in this post. Azure is an awesome organization.
Almost like mine. Love to listen to you..you talk so plain and are easy to understand. Really enjoy your posts. KEVIN TOO!
We've always used oats in our meatloaf but hadn't thought of grinding it to smaller bits. Thanks for the tip!
Sara I just made this and am
Eating it now. So good! I picked lettuce and spinach along with radishes and canned diced tomatoes for a salad. Thanks for idea for my dinner tonight!
I have to try those Italian meatloaf patties they look wonderful. Thank you so much for your great videos.
I love when you or Kevin cook. Everything looks so easy and delicious that my mouth waters as I watch. Keep cooking!
You are the best Sarah 🤗💕🇨🇦

Have you ever tried making the meatloaf in metal muffin pans. It cuts the time way down and everyone gets the really good crusty edges with every one.
Tried it but too much grease formed all around them.
The simple meals? Are often? THE FAVORITE meals in the family. Thanks for sharing. 👍🌻
I truly enjoyed being in the kitchen with you! Your dinner looked amazing and I loved your pretty plates 😊
I love using oats instead of breadcrumbs. But I don't grind them up, I soak them in the milk (with about 2 tbl extra milk) and put them in whole. Your Italian version of meatloaf looks yummy. Gonna try that. God bless!
Made the meatloaf patties tonight but did squash and turnip roots as a side instead. So good
Ha ha. As you were forming the patties I was thinking to myself how some cheese in the middle would so tasty, but I like your way too! Yum!
I have pry a lid and it’s awesome!
Thanks Sarah, that look scrumptious
love the video Sarah God bless and as always have a beautiful day

I sure do enjoy your cooking videos, Sarah! Thanks for sharing.
For meatloaf, I do pretty much everything you do, but I also mix in a couple of tablespoons of home-rendered lard or bacon grease and some shredded cheese. Because less isn't more when it comes to meatloaf. It's also a great way to make burgers for the grill. 😁
Hey Sarah, looks like a great meal. Really enjoyed the mini meatloaf patties, and both sides your served too! Thanks for sharing with us.
Love watching you cook.
Great dinner -- looked so good -- will try it today. Thanks for sharing. You always inspire me to try something new.
You can use a silicone mat to avoid sticking if you use them that is. They do well with meat. I love your cooking videos.
Suddenly I am so, so hungry!
I just love cooking with you Sarah
I see you have a awesome set of bowls we have the same set complete
And my wife does a awesome meatloaf it has Swiss cheese cubed in it
Sounds delicious

Thank you Sarah! Looks delicious and I'm making this tonight.😊
I've never made anything like this, but watching you eat it makes me want to give it a go 😉
Hello from Arkansas. Great looking supper. I just might try and make it for myself. Have a super day.
One of these days you should try drained green beans with butter and lemon pepper. It is the only way my family will eat green beans. It tastes soooooo good that way.
as much as we like meatloaf I never thought of making patties. mmmm bet they would freeze and microwave well ( for when quick dinners are needed) I add a bit of cinnamon to my red sauces... so yummy and good fir you too
Delicious! We make meatloaf patties in the summer when it's to hot to run the oven ;) Thank you for sharing
I use barbecue sauce on my meatloaf but your Italian patties look really good. I'll definitely have to give them a try.
Meatloaf patties are great & fast! Pork meatloaf is amazing, we have an abundance of pork here so we make a similar dish!
My mom make awesome meatloaf. The best part is cold meatloaf sandwiches the next day. ☺☺
