  • Today Kevin is sharing his favorite cracker recipe. Sometimes you just feel like snacking and this recipe makes it fast and easy to have freshly baked crackers that are healthier than store bought alternatives.
    Recipe:
1 cup oat flour (90 grams)
2 cups all purpose flour (198 grams)
    2 tsp. salt (10 grams)
    2 tsp. sugar (7.98 grams)
    4 tbsp. oil (52.64 grams)
1 cup (may need a little more or less) hot water. (236.58 grams)
Roll out and bake at 425F ( 218C) for 7 minutes. Remove from oven and spray with oil and salt. You can also add toppings at this point. Put back in oven for at least another 7 minutes. After that check frequently until desired crunchiness is obtained.

***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 5 new videos every week! Tuesday through Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we transition from city dwellers to full time homesteaders!

I'm not even sure if you do this intentionally, but I super appreciate the kindness and all of your videos how you give different alternatives. Even how you say not organic is okay. Thank you for making us feel better when we don't have what might be considered the best ingredients or tools, and giving us alternatives. I just feel like in this age where there's so much consumerism your channel is so refreshing

I made these today; I rolled them out on parchment paper. I sprinkled with seasoning salt. We 😊 love your recipe. Crackers are almost gone. Many blessings to you and family.

there's a better way to measure flour. When you scoop as you did, you get so much more. The best way is to weigh, but if not, stir up flour in bag and spoon into the cup instead of scooping into the bag for more consistent measure. If you test and weigh, you will see a huge difference on how much you actually used. 1 cup of AP flour is 120 grams. or 4.23 ounces.

my 14 yr old son that loves to cook and bake decided to make these today. We used homemade dry ranch mix as our flavor and WOW they were awesome. So easy! Now he wants to come up with different flavors and give them as gifts to our relatives. Thanks again!

Always wanted to make crackers and now I can. Just got I pad, so am learning, but found you guys because of baking my own bread. We use to be on farm. We had to move, got to old , am in city with daughter, still can’t speak about our farm. So am enjoying your farm, baking . You are keeping simple and using what you have. Am not a gadget person, use what I have. You guys keep going. Thank you

The comfort food theory is that the wheat in the cracker, bread, donut, or anything starchy gives you a 'pleasurable' feeling and why women especially 'binge' on flour products at certain times of the month. It adds/retains serotonin into your brain and thereby makes you 'happy'!

Try having one person or persons start a song, and the next one jumps in by singing the song from the beginning. Get a bunch of people, and you have a nice choir. As always, Chris Bitonti

The dollar stores and lots of other places sell...I think they call it shelf liner or maybe refrigerator drawer liner... that is rubbery and looks kind of woven with holes in it. Anyway, it makes a great think to put under your bread board to keep it from sliding. If you get a roll at the dollar store, it's cheap.

I’m not paying $3.50 for a box of crackers when I can spend a few minutes and a few cents to make something that’s far better than store bought !!!

These look great! I think I'd add parmesan cheese and some herbs to kick it up a notch.

Awesome on top of the wood stovetop slow cooked soup. It's fabulous that Kevin helps in the kitchen and Sarah in the fields, etc... My biological parents were farmers + careers. My father a Colonel in Air Force. My mom a botanist and wildlife scientist, I was born in the continent of Africa. After I was sent to 🇺🇸 with relatives , the patriarch of the family wouldn't step foot in the kitchen unless dishing out supersized bowl of ice cream. The "You Tube" kudos of the week goes out to the two of you for stepping in where help is needed the most.
