  • Riding Los Angeles Metro Busway J Line (or Silver Line) Northbound (bus model: 2008 NABI 45C-LFW) from Figueroa at 7th Street in Downtown Los Angeles to El Monte Station in East Los Angeles. J Line is a bus rapid transit (BRT) that travels between I-110 (Harbor Freeway), I-10 San Bernardino, Downtown Los Angeles, and San Pedro (near Port of Los Angeles and Long Beach).
This bus journey starts at 7th Street and Figueroa Station in Downtown Los Angeles. This station is locater right by 7th Street Metro Center Station (transfer to/from Metro Rail A, B, D and E Lines - or formally name Metro Rail Red, Purple, Blue/Gold, and Expo/Gold Lines). After I have boarded the J Line, the bus traveled to northeast of Downtown Los Angeles and entered to I-10 San Bernardino Busway to El Monte.
As of 2023, the full fare to ride J Line is $1.75 and arrives every 10-20 minutes. In addition, this line operates 24 hours a day. J Line Fare used to be $2.50, but Metro simplified the fare to $1.75:

can you ride this bus with a normal 1-Day ticket?

It should work. I've checked my Tap Card Balance and it accepted my two hour free transfer. Before boarding the J Line, I first boarded E Line to 7th Street Metro Center Station (for $1.75). Also, December 2022, Metro removed the additional fare on the J Line (www.masstransitmag.com/e-inquiry/fare-collection/press-release/21289003/los-angeles-county-metropolitan-transportation-authority-metro-la-metro-approves-new-fare-policy-that-includes-a-simplified-structure-and-fare-capping)

To clarify, you get free 2-hr transfers only with TAP. There are no free transfers anymore if you pay with cash. Also, there is no day ticket or even tickets at all, but daily and weekly fares are capped if you use TAP.
