Peter Butterworth was a fighter pilot in W.W.2 , and a prisoner of war volunteered to help with the famous wooden horse escape. Vaulting over the horse for hours a day while others dug a tunnel. No small thing on P.O.W. rations . When he auditioned for the film about the escape he was told he didn't look the part. He was told the same thing when tried for a part in the movie ,Battle of Britain.. The casting directors wanted 6ft clean cut actors, not a stocky little man with a bull dog face even if he was the real deal.
I never knew that. He may not have looked the part but, by Jove, he was a REAL hero.
The music is from Carry On Cabby. Love the Sid James laugh at the end.
And Nurse On Wheels .
All but one. Didn't recognise Frankie Howerd. And he's my favourite.
I got about half of them right but I would recognise Valerie Leon anywhere as she's been a crush of mine forever
Gorgeous gal Andy 👏👍😜
I'm gay and even I fancy Valerie Leon lol. Hai Karate anyone?😊
The Jack Douglas "before" photo looks like it's from his later career when he moved into serious roles.
19/20 just love carry on films been watching them since I was about 4 or 5 years old.
19/20...I didn't manage to nail Angela Douglas (Yah-yah-yah...!)
Can't believe the only one I got wrong was Sid James!
I loved the carring on and still do I'm always watching them I've got all on DVD not missing any
Ken's photo is from a school play. His dad was furious that he was playing a female part.
One of the (even) more bizarre stories around Ken is that he and his mother actually poisoned his father because he got on their nerves.
@@chrisparkes2179 Terrible
I got two wrong to be honest, I failed to recognise Terry Scott and June Whitfield. The others were more obvious.
11/20 scored.
Damn Bernard Cribbens....19 out of 20 great quiz mate
Thanks Dave. Much appreciated!
I didn't get Angela Douglas or June and I said Patsy Rowlands was Sheila Hancock lol. But not too bad I guess.
That was a lot harder than I thought.
Yes, some are really quite tough in this one.
Mick Hucknall was Bernard Cribbins in a former life 😂

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy either
Ive a great aptitude for facial memory but even i struggle at times to get a full house on your quizzes & thats the essential part of the game, its got to

You should do a quiz on Children's Programmes from the 1950 & 60s
I used to sit glued to my tiny little armchair watching...
Watch With Mother
Andy Pandy
The Wooden Tops
Ad infinitum..
Ok its going to be more advantagous to Brit audiences
But i know Australian tv got the black & white puppet shows from Britain as my friend told me when i lived there for a few years in the 70s
Same with boxed sets
there are many nations who now know & are fans of early children's TV shows esp from the BEEB
Who could fail to love Bill & Ben
Or Spotty Dog, Looby Loo, & i think the little house knew something, dont you?
There's not many 50s shows in it but there is a video on the channel called Name the Classic Kids TV Show. There are a few 60s shows in there, along with some gems from the 70s and 80s.
There are quite a few viewers on the channel from Australia - they seem to love the classic British shows!
