Peter Butterworth was a fighter pilot in W.W.2 , and a prisoner of war volunteered to help with the famous wooden horse escape. Vaulting over the horse for hours a day while others dug a tunnel. No small thing on P.O.W. rations . When he auditioned for the film about the escape he was told he didn't look the part. He was told the same thing when tried for a part in the movie ,Battle of Britain.. The casting directors wanted 6ft clean cut actors, not a stocky little man with a bull dog face even if he was the real deal.

I never knew that. He may not have looked the part but, by Jove, he was a REAL hero.

Gotta say i love your quizzes because its quick, no drop dead long time to guess
10 secs is long enough to know if you know or dont know
    Plus your questions arent
    Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy either
Ive a great aptitude for facial memory but even i struggle at times to get a full house on your quizzes & thats the essential part of the game, its got to
    Be a challenge
So thank you again for the shot of brain fuel i needed to rapidly
Mix for your most splendid quiz

      Har har arf arf.
      You are most welcome...⤵️
You should do a quiz on Children's Programmes from the 1950 & 60s
I used to sit glued to my tiny little armchair watching...
      Watch With Mother
      Andy Pandy
      The Wooden Tops
      Ad infinitum..
Ok its going to be more advantagous to Brit audiences
But i know Australian tv got the black & white puppet shows from Britain as my friend told me when i lived there for a few years in the 70s
      Same with boxed sets
there are many nations who now know & are fans of early children's TV shows esp from the BEEB
Who could fail to love Bill & Ben
Or Spotty Dog, Looby Loo, & i think the little house knew something, dont you?

    • @stuviewtv
      @stuviewtv  Před 2 lety

There's not many 50s shows in it but there is a video on the channel called Name the Classic Kids TV Show. There are a few 60s shows in there, along with some gems from the 70s and 80s.
There are quite a few viewers on the channel from Australia - they seem to love the classic British shows!

@@stuviewtv there are quite a few from the 1950's
Theres The Flowerpot men with Little Weeeb
Àndy Pandy ( wth Looby Loo & Teddy)
      Rag, Tag & Bobtail
The Woodentops ( my fave & featuring Spotty Dog )
Toy Town ( with Bossy Boots)
      Larry the Lamb
Noddy Series ( racist probs esp with Black Sambo golliwog)
The ( brilliant artist Tony Harts creations) stories of Morph ( brill)
Sooty & Sweep ( still crease me up)
Tilly, Tom & Tiny or Tots TV ( 70/80s but amazing)
      Rosie & Jim
      Crackerjack ( probs very racist)
Early Blue Peter ( with Val, Chris & John Noakes & Shep the Dog)
Inspector Gadget ( hmm not so good)
      Champion the Wonder Horse( american)
      The Whurlie Birds ( american)

      The Clangers ( 70s genius)
      Trumpton
      Camberwick Green
      Bagpuss ( 70s but brill)
      Stingray ( cool)
      Fireball XL5 ( great)
Pinky & Perky ( cheap tacky & wierd but still brill)

      Picture Book
      The Adventures of Twizzle
      Torchy the Battery Boy
      Pogles Wood
Magic Roundabout ( spacey & cool)
      Paulus the Wood Gnome
Cat Weasel ( abit out of genre)
      Huxley Pig ( 70s)
      Captain Scarlett & the Mysterons
      Hartley Hare
      Earliest versions of Rupert Bear
Rhubarb & Custard ( brill & is technically a cartoon although in
A strange wibbly way but because its voiced by Spike Milligan & so britishy & nuts)
I think theres not a bad lot here to work a quiz from
I can search thru my memories
Of other 60s fun childrens progs
I wouldnt cheat either if u got a nice few quizzes out of that lot above, id not comment or do spoiler alerts that really sucks !
      Evil Beanbags!
