_Trains never disappear!_ - lol
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_gold_train.. :D
yeah he lost me there
Like u lost to McGregor..
They run on tracks so it would be hard for one to go missing
Hey NDGT how about there’s no trains that run through the Atlantic Ocean. He really is a smart ass sometimes, all the time.
That other island is Puerto Rico man how could you. *Cries in spanish*
+MrTheguitaristguy i didnt know you could cry in spanish
+Ali .Z **El boohoo**
LOL
MrTheguitaristguy "Hay Dios Mio!"
so your tears and sadness have a language and a nationality?
some british scientists measured the curve of the earth in the 1700's, and they did it in england.
they assumed the earth was a perfect sphere, and used the measurement to form sea maps on that basis. ships that used those maps arrived at the right location when travelling to north america, and when travelling south from england, they could adjust their coursr by looking at land.
but when travelling southwards across the atlantic, the minor flaw in the map would accumulate, and they could not correct their course by looking at land.
this is why ships sailed from europe to the area around the bermuda triangle would "dissappear", they actually never did dissappear, they simply arrived in the wrong country, and since they were sure to have sailed correctly across the atlantic, they assumed the flaw occoured at the very end of their journey.
I've spent a lot of time in Bermuda and the reason so many ships use to disappear is because the water gets extremely shallow in many different places from 5-20 miles away from the island. Captains who didn't know the terrain would damage their ships by hitting water that's only 5-7 feet deep when they weren't expecting it. Even today, large ships that want to port in Bermuda need a local captain to meet them a few miles off the coast so they can safely navigate the difficult terrain into the port.
And how do you explain the missing plains is the sky shallow jajaja just kidding 😂
@@henryvaldez8656 maybe extreme unpredictable weather!
used to??
has it stopped?
31 people who disliked this video are stuck in a space time warp continuum they entered in after taking a flight through the Bermuda triangle.
SteelRainz1 could have been the pink man tits that caused the dislike.
Trains don't fly or float on water
Or they might be flat-earthers
when I heard him say "some other island" my chest got warm. Puerto Rico is always forgotten XD
Drain the Atlantic. Neil is awesome, period.
Nail'd it deGrasse Tyson
Neil goes to his dad after winning a race, dad says:
Neil deGrasse Tyson,
Nail'd the race my son.
Gurpreet Singh MAtharoo
very cool practical explanation, its true lol, i am now officially the fan of mr neil tyson
*****
Yes. He's not a mister since he's got a Ph.D
The funny thing is, by how the Triangle is portrayed (or the so called Triangle) you would think is this mysterious dark place, off the map, all thick fog and dangerous reefs, the captain crosses himself before you enter...You are never TOLD that it is actually one of the busier routes for planes and ships in the world.
Now I don't doubt that there are things at sea we may not expect or even fully understand (if for no other reason then because most of the Earth is covered in it), but I doubt they are specific to this one place.
Right now I would say it's busier. You just can't explain a large naval ship completely disappearing in the early 20th century
Goddamn Tyson is brilliant. One fucking sentence, ONE! dID YA EVER NOTICE TRAINS DON'T DISAPPEAR....
People are making comments that it should be easy to find ships and plane at the bottom of the Ocean. Five miles deep is an incredible depth to travel, much
People already traveld down to the bottom
Carlyle tom look up worm holes in the bremited tringal
@@popsmoke8161 Bremited Tringle Hahahahahahahah
So if you want to go to Bermuda, go by train.
If they could record whole videos of the podcast and upload them to this channel that would be amazing.
Dr. Tyson...brilliant as always!!
lol yayo is slang for coke hahha
Hmm interesting, in Finnish slang jeijo (pronounced the same way) is amphetamine
You guys passing out more knowledge than Tyson
Record and upload the whole podcasts, please.
I'm from Puerto Rico and became so sad when Neil couldn't remember about my island. You should come here (by train or whatever), lot of fans
+karima- ti0n I will forget an island where habichuelas is the same as beans but different in the rest of the spanish speaking countries
1:20 I feel urged to write a Sci Fi script with a missing train...
seen all those shows. those more of a bar setting. what it would be like if the show took place at your local college bar with young comedians. thats cool and all and very enjoyable. but the full versions of these "studio" shows would still be nice. instead of just one question teasers. with that being said. i love tyson and everything he does
They will be starting a video format of the show soon on the Nerdist channel on youtube. I'm not sure when they will announce it but they have already made a couple of episodes of StarTalk in video format so I'm guessing they will be coming out fairly soon.
i would like to see his take on the double slit experiment.
Can't speak to trains, but I recall once hearing about a series of rooftop to rooftop ramps over which taxis used to take people around New York in the early 20th century and that when they tore down and retired the system some of the cars were missing.
WOW..TRAIN NEVER DISSAPEAR.....Lets make movie about that....A Train just Disappear inside Tunnel....and never appear on the other side...!!

+StarTalk Radio I can't believe that Mr. Neil forgot the origins of his mother, according to thefamouspeople.com web page. His mother is of Puerto Rican origins and one of the angles of the bermuda triangle is in Puerto Rico.
Neil invite physics girl and vintage space on your show, give these two science ladies so we can get some additional exposure to spread the knowledge.
Finally.. NDT didnt know something... Most famous Train lost legend...

The best Science show on any platform ❤
In 88 and 90, aboard a United States Navy Destroyer, we went through the Bermuda Triangle a number of times. No problems. Except once. The Magnetic Compass on the helm did start spinning, for maybe 2 minutes? Now, I have stood watch MANY times on the helm, and as BMOW, and NEVER seen anything even remotely that freaky, and it was a beautiful sunny day too! But that one time, was enough! LOL ;)
This is awesome
right ... I dont know how they thought few minutes of neil is enough.
They should upload every second they spend with this great man
wow.. the comment section is disheartening. it's sad that so many people missed the train analogy NdGT made.
what's humorous to me is the fact that posters on youtube actually think they are so smart that they can prove NdGT (astrophysicist, current Frederick P. Rose Director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space and a research associate in the department of astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History) wrong on this point.... it wasnt even a complicated statement he made. it was very straight forward and about as common sense as you can get... yet still people not only missed the point but thought they had proven an astrophysicist wrong.
just wow....
KandaPanda Good points. There are some monumentally stupid, illogical, ignorant, and paranoid people in this world.
I heard it has something to do with undercurrents that decrease the density of the water below and the air above.
This would explain why both ships and airplanes would disappear in the same area.
I imagined the studio being more serene, though. Maybe few plants and subtle lighting. Alternatively, based on Mr Waverly's command centre in The Man from UNCLE.
Or how about something like Sagan's spaceship?
Don’t like how he puts the train thing in there. The triangle does not go on land. Neil is so brilliant and I never thought I could correct him but this is it today!
Well that was a way less interesting answer then I'd hoped.
Wow some other island
Interesting. How can you determine that?
people actually like to forget about the gulf stream going through the area too, it moves things around lots faster than other places...
i think that if you factor in his contributions and potential in social sciences, he is much more than a pop sci genius. the gaps that he is trying to bridge will prove have a very significant impact in the future of science
And to you, sir!
What mics are those?
Awesome social skills, Edmond. You must be a hit with the ladies.
“You ever notice that there are no missing trains?”
The Caribbean island and 3rd Bermuda triangle point is Puerto Rico. Regards from Puerto Rico.
The Italian Train from Zanetti Company went missing. Should look it up
2:11 "There is no mysterious physics going on in the Bermuda Triangle."
Everything before that sentence was just explaining that the same percentage of ships and planes that go through the Triangle go missing as in the rest of the world.
May be Hawking, but definitely not Tyson. But I'm glad that guys like Tyson, Bill Nye, Brian Cox etc. makes science look so much funnier and cooler these days.
Brilliant man indeed... But was there not a ship carrying two locomotives which lost said cargo in the ocean in the late 19th / early 20th century? Thought I saw a documentary about it years ago. SO - Point of fact, trains (at least train cars) do sometimes go missing. Imagine my ego after contradicting Dr. Tyson... LOL Cheers everyone!
Except you haven't.
(1) The train wasn't the mode of transport in such a case
(2) A train. Singular.
then how do you explain pilots who experience equipment failure, or reports of "missing time", in which they arrive much sooner than physically possible for the speed limitations of their plane? there have also been reports of strange cloud formations and atmospheric conditions, yet people on land and air-traffic radar both see clear skies?
Dammit, that took all the fun out of the triangle
Demontriell Flippins Onto another mystery that hasn't been solved yet! :P
Can you make a video about the "black knight satellite"?
his explanation is similar to what I tell friends who will stand in line at a liquor stores that have a high number of lotto winners, the more tickets they sell the higher the chance that someone who bought tickets at that store will win.
p.s.
someone needs a man bra
Hahah, I love this guy. :)
can't we check ships through sonar?
Oh, dear. Saibin - sorry! - Sabin 97 (you're right, the 97 is awesome and deserves mention), I answered your question with Kalie down below (he wasn't getting my point, either). Honest! There's examples and everything. You'll love it.
That's a good idea for a mystary/scifi story: A subway train going missing between two stations!
What about all the solid methane which bubbles up from the bottom. Any thoughts of it causing more because of this?
Chuck with the Letterman tip-in!
Imminent actually does indicate an immediate time frame. The word you are looking for is inevitable. That is the vocabulary you are searching for.
Aliens have no interest in trains, to clunky to carry around.
This goes to Neil deGrasse Tyson, that other island is Puerto Rico. You should know that. On that island is where the Arecibo Radio Telescope that listen at the universe your field of practice.
1:00
dat noise
TO be fair, things get debated for centuries because we go centuries without the means to find something out, something that explains and proves/disproves whatever
So there is THAT
the funny thing is... there are actually missing trains.
the german train company "deutsche bahn" has no idea, where some of their trains are. They put them somewhere and forgot about it and now they don't know where they left them.
Yayoh(
Weren’t there 6 army jets went above the Bermuda missing? Then a rescue jet went after them and it was also missing? That’s just strange
Trains going missing . . . I'm gonna go write a short story.
During Wolrd War II many trains disappeared. It is said they were loaded with gold. They've found one in Poland a few months ago but haven't started digging yet.
Neil never done his research godammit
Just to reiterate what Neil said: TRAINS DO NOT DISAPPEAR. If it was "found a few months ago..." then it never "disappeared."
If something was found then logically it disappeared beforehand lol.
No, if something was found then logically it was LOST beforehand, lol. Being LOST then FOUND is not the same as disappearing and reappearing. The train did not vanish into thin air only to be found later. It was LOST, then it was FOUND.
Disappearing does not exclusively mean "vanish into thin air" in a literal way. Generally english speakers use it for something that went missing at an unknown time in a (currently) unknown way. So it can be synonymous with "lost" or sometimes a more specific type of "lost" like "vanish into thin air."
Ex: "My keys disappeared, I can't find them." vs. "The magician made the ball disappear."
The other island is Puerto Rico.
What episode is this?? @startalk
I think we can all agree that he wouldn't call himself that. He is good at what he does. I enjoy it alot.
i like trains..
choo choo
Yayo!
That's good to know! I subbed to Nerdist about two months ago but the spam was awful.
That cocaine ketamine reference in the first guys name 😂😂😂
well that explains it
There are never any missing trains...XD
It's PUERTO RICO, Mr Neal DeGrass Tyson... You SHOULD know this SIR!!!......lol
Nicole Del Valle Dr.
I missed the train this morning! I think it's been swallowed by a worm hole to a higher dimension in time and space.
I like you, Amer. You're happy! :)
isn't the Bermuda triangle where most hurricanes begin?
yes...
I bet there were some missing trains after the 2011 Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami.
Gotta head there via train then and find out! lol
Rankin, you've made me feel bad for dismissing your TV scientist idol. I'm sorry. You never mind me and keep following Mr. De Grasse. He's awesome! :)
Too many negatives, Panth, so I'll give you a positive:He's a damn good actor. His roles in the Big Bang Theory and Stargate Atlantis were delightful.
1:00 - And....~footwhateveriate'nic'nuc'~
To me, it seems that when people end with "good day to you" or similar lines, what they actually want to say is "screw this, conversing with this person is not worth my time, better end this quickly before it turns ugly."
So good day to you.
The island is Puerto Rico ^_^
The simple answers usually bug those who prefer more complicated ones, truth be damned. Same frustration exists for those preferring conspiracy answers to the more simpler and more probable ones.
He didn't he said its to do with volume the only reason there's more sink-ages there is because there's more ships and planes going through there to start with.
I’ve missed lots of trains!
Lmao at the one minute mark he stutters or something n makes this hilarious sound
I've probably seen like 10 or so tv specials, or segments of a show, that addressed the "mysteries"of the Bermuda Triangle disappearances, so why the hell didn't they ever mention the large volume of traffic in the area, I never knew this until now.
Because a plausible explanation would not have helped their ratings.
The same reason that "reality" shows are faked, so it'll be more interesting.
Bermuda Triangle mystery = solved ☑
I knew it!
Me: Steals train for the sake of confusing a crapton of people*
Smart man.
it still doesn't explain how they sank in fine weather conditions when chances of sinking were almost negligible.
damn, I was hoping he'd say krackin. jk. I friggen love this man!
David C made a train disappear once lol
What are you talking bout Niell? I did miss my train once, so that does happen.
