You have no idea how much I dislike mid-century modern furniture. Even “dislike” can’t describe how I’ve always felt about this style. That being said, I’ve fallen in love with every piece that you’ve done. They are absolutely gorgeous and you’ve given them generations of new life. You have changed the way I perceive beauty. Thank you for that.

About that "Lace doily" that melted into the one walnut piece; Back in the 60's-70's it was actually thought of as "Fashionable/stylish" to use Plastic Doilies on good furniture, the saddest part was that when exposed to sunlight, the plastic doily would actually melt into the wood, and if the finish on the wood was breaking down, the plastic melted into the wood fibers and destroyed many items,
America's LOVE of Plastic has always been a prime example of the lack of critical thinking and planning ahead. Evidenced by the thousands of pounds of Plastic waste that will be causing damage to the Earth for a very long time.
Thank you for saving that piece and all the others from the landfills!♥♥♥

I so appreciate your respect for MCM furniture and that you preserve wood finishes so often. In the late ‘60s I went to design school in NYC, then worked in High Point, NC and married a High Point native. So, in both cities I was immersed in beautiful contemporary furniture. While I enjoy some of the highly decorative traditional pieces many of the furniture designers create, it warms my heart to see your work with these lovely modern pieces.

Not sure you know, but #1 is a commode. The potty is placed inside the door and traditionally, a bowl and pitcher is placed on top. The drawers are for soap and towels, razor etc. These pieces usually have a mirror. But even today, toilets are often referred to as a commode. Angie, what you did with it is just amazing!

Some people out here are true artists and make the pieces into art. Beautiful to look and appreciate but not something i would do or own for me. Some are painting with little refinishing of the wood. That may be due to the original piece not have the great wood grains but the pieces still look very nice when they are done. But, your work really resonates with me. Your flips are amazing and especially your ability to choose whether to paint and what color to paint with the wood is friggin astounding! You are seriously inspiring me but i don't want to get ahead of myself. haha!
