I like the video a lot!
Regarding weather sealing:
according to Sony Website the lens is:
"The lens is designed to be dust- and moisture-resistant (*) ensuring reliable operation when shooting outdoors in challenging conditions."
Where (*) is explained us: Not guaranteed to be 100% dust- and moisture-proof.
Interesting that they didn't put a gasket on the mount then. The (*) is probably a CYA measure on their part.
I am liking this video just solely for your incredible side by side example shot. (The video is great too) Nicely done!
Nice lenses. I photograph wildlife as a hobby so use my Tamron 150-600mm a lot. When you say your 150-600mm will just sit there, I'm like "Arghhhh, use it!" lol
I have used the longer focal lengths at award shows to get shots from the back of the theather, which provides a nice angke
I bought the Sony 70-300 a few years ago for my A6300 to shoot my kids sports. Great zoom lens!
It's wired getting into to a hobby and seeing someone shooting in your home town
Nice! Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱 🙋♂️
Very nice review as always! I have this lens on Sony a7 iii and my daughter also has this lens on a Sony a7 iv
we both have some great shots! I am like you I would not use the Sigma because of it's size and weight.
Nice lens though and a very good comparison. Thank you!
Bought the 150-600 used ($600 with mc-11) also for a trip to Africa on A6500..big mammals..birds..Wild life ...there is no match. You need reach for moose, big cats, elephants,etc....safety...and video. You can crop 24 mp but 4 k video not so much..framing is key..plus Sony video zoom (2x) on apc.. think medium size birds or mammals in trees.
Owning the Sigma 150-600 C myself I have to agree, 99% of the time it's just sitting there.
However I don't think I'd trade it in for the 70-300 but would rather get the Sony 70-200 F4 as the 24-105 F4 OSS just doens't have enough reach when you go on nature walks and the 150-600 can't go wide enough which would mean carrying another lens to an already heavy setup. Btw bought the 150-600 solely for Airshows :-) Hence 99% it just sits there - maybe better to just rent one when needed.
I have got already Sony 24-105 and want to complement that with some "not heavy" zoom.
I considering:
1) Sony 70-200G
2) Sony 70-300G
3) Tamron 70-180
4) Sigma 100-400 DN
5) still waiting for Sigma 70-200 2.8 DN
There is too many options on the market. But to be honest, I like 70-300G because of the size and reach. Looks like Jack of all trades ...
Have you got guys any experience with some of above lenses?
Man! How did you get this many sponsors! 😅
Just gotta stay on that grind 🙏
Christopher always different with other creator.
Using a 75-300 myself I find that to be excessive
Didn't they have the Sony 70-350mm for rental?
That lens is apsc, I was using the a7iii.
Ok. I thought you used it with the a6500 you showed at the beginning of the video.
I own a 6500 and I'm not sure which one to get since they are mostly the same price. I've heard that the 70-350 is also pretty sharp, but I have yet to see a comparison between the two
That's a good question have you checked dxomark to see if the 70-350 gets too soft anywhere in the zoom range?
I have the Sony 70-350mm. It is very sharp across the frame and through the zoom range. It is also weather sealed. It's a little bit darker being 4.5-6.3 but it's perfectly fine if you are ok with the fact that it's an apsc lens.
Also using the 70 - 350mm G lens on an A6600. It's a good lens, I would say image quality is comparable to the 70 - 300, maybe a little sharper. I wouldn't say it's outstanding in terms of sharpness but very good nonetheless considering it's the equivalent to 525mm.
Sigma also have a new 100 - 400mm for e-mount that's a bit lighter and more compact than the 600mm. Obviously you'd be losing a good bit of reach but it certainly looks more portable. I was deciding between it and the 70-350 but the sigma was just a little bigger and heavier for my needs as it's built for full frame and I shoot on APSC.
E 70-350 G OSS is much sharper than FE 70-300 G OSS.
Unfortunately that's an apsc lens and won't work on ff.
@@ChristopherBurress yes but... you had it mounted on the A6xxx :P And many in comments had it with their A6xxx
