- Sadly, couldnt do an SSTO for this one haha. If this was ksp1, it actually would be possible with propellers, tho we dont have any robotics in ksp2 yet :P But until thats patched / modded in, i had to get very creative with the build and bust out every trick i know about space planes in ksp2.
This whole project took a pretty insane amount of time to do, which is why i didnt have anything to post last week :P Hopefully the wait was worth it!
Craft file: kspbuilds.com/build/5505962d-...

13:46- Kerbin landing - Hry
Some people might see this video as a sign that KSP2 is in the gutter, but when I see things like this, it actually fills me with hope
Because if people can do these types of things at 1-2 fps, imagine what you could do as the performance increases?
I have 5000+ hours in KSP.
Thought i knew it all, but you helped me make better SSTO's.
Thanks 😁
Great quality videos, you are working hard. I can’t wait for you to blow up man you deserve it!
thanks man!
That would be very nice for sure :P
Great vid! Im scouring the internet for Eve related KSP2 vids. Just got the mission in the new update where i need to land 10 Kerbals on Eve. And I want to get my kerbals back home. So far your vid is the only one ive found. And honestly using a space plane is probably my best option!
Really good video! Enjoyed it a lot!👌
Part of me wishes i watched this video for KSP2 For Science's "Under Pressure" mission (land and take off with 10 kerbals on Eve) before attempting it, part of me is also glad i just went for an over the top rocket design instead. Many more parts, and i definitely get the slideshow launch
Awesome video man you've inspired me to do something similar with the 200gb of footage I recorded of my Space Plane to Laythe and back. But man the bugs... the bugs are brutal.
Sweet man, glad to hear it!
Sounds like a pretty big adventure :P cudos for sticking through all the fps issues and bugs
Nicely done!
wow, this is awesome. cant believe the game actually permitted you to do that, with the exception of having to cheat an exact copy of the craft into eve's orbit. good shit.
Great video. It still feels tough to get to eve in an SSTO without burning up...
Thankfully, re-entry heating is not a thing in ksp2 yet so i didnt have to worry about it :P
Would of likely had to keep a large section of the original wing in order to aerobrake at eve a lot faster if it was enabled.
This man is a menace. He can do this crazy shiz, even in ksp 2's current state. Can't imagine what this man can do in ksp 1
Wow this is so cool. Great job!
Glad you liked it :)
Oh man, good luck with the flight xD
Link should be fixed
@@Kerman_von_Braun It is fixed thanks!
Good on you man for playing KSP2. I really liked KSP1 but couldn't handle science mode because i cannot design a working plane to save my life and didn't understand the objectives very well anyway. Waiting on KSP2 to become more finished and polished as I have seen alot of the wobble issues and am not a fan of that. I would quit far before i even manage anything if that happened all the time. But im impressed with how well you are doing with these things
They're back!
Bro i can't believe this dude only has 700 subscribers, you deserve so much more and wish you the best of luck on your youtube journey, already subscribed
I will say one thing I did not like the top and bottom black borders, but other than that this video was perfect
@@Satvik_903 Glad to hear youre enjoying the vid's :P
Im a proud owner of an ultrawide, so i record in 21:9 aspect. The thought did cross my mind of recording in 16:9, but its not something ive given serious thought to just yet.
well now they are 983 subs already :)
I know it is "early" in dev, but this makes me wonder if KSP 2 will ever get close to KSP 1 in less than a decade
Also, the User Interface is SO HORRIBLE, and I don't think they'll ever address that.
That said, well done Kerman! You are very skilled and brave to attempt this on 2!!!
haha thanks!
Personally, i have hope that ksp2 will one day become great. Intercept team seems to be very passionate about the project. Tho it will take at least a year if not more
It would have helped if they included any features that weren't in KSP1, this would give people a good reason to play ksp2. As it stands today, you get a more beautiful game with less features and lots of bugs. Oh and more than 50% of the KSP 1 playerbase can't even play the game on their machines.
@@lb2791 I ABSOLUTELY agree with you, they should have reselased features that ksp1 didnt have even for this early access stage
I actually tried to install some mods for KSP 1 and I realized that nearly everything they are planning on their entire road map for 2 already exists on 1! You can build bases, go to other planets, blackholes, quasars, have access to a looot of new parts, tech, contracts, some with interesting stories, and everything so far feels actually SURPRISINGLY STABLE! Even after 50+ simultaneous mods
I would advise anyone that already knows how to play vanilla well to install CKAN first so you can add and remove mods just by selecting them, and give it a try, from quality of life like a mod that helps you dock properly, position you RCS trusters correctly up to add new planets to your system (my Duna currently has gorgeous rings and an extra moon named Nike, among other things) and the most interesting, trying to add the UCI bundle for life support so you have a reason to mine for different resources and use a bunch of cool station parts - on the life support mod kerbals dont die by default, they become tourist if they run out of supplies so you can just dock a new vessel with supplies to turn them back if you arent producing enough in situ, the tree its complex but adds SO MUCH and there are good tutorials for it on YT too!
Ksp2 made me want to play ksp1 and I was surprised on how far it went after a decade and a half of polishing!
These mods have been last updated around 2020, tops, so they are usually as polished as they can and they run very well if you have a computer more modern than the ones from 2020! :)
one glance at the interface was enough for me to simply not be interested in SP 2. It's generally funny when some non-professionals and amateurs make the interface better than professional game studios. This says EVERYTHING about game studios and, in principle, it becomes clear why the gaming industry is in such a mess
no be fair if you look at the original ksp 1 interface there is a good chance it will change, that said, why would they put such a horrible interface in to begin with, I would've been way happier if they just copied the interface from ksp 1.
It’s finally here!!
Hopefully it was worth the wait :P
Those detachable wings remind me of von Braun’s early ideas for mars missions
Damn bro, the kraken forgot your existence x)
Fantastic job! We've become masochists in ksp2 :P Still having fun though! Also, how did you do that initial launch from Eve? I really want to test things on other planets
You have to embrace the succ to enjoy ksp2 xD
I use a mod called ''lazy orbit''. It allows me to teleport around and test various stages of my builds.
@@Kerman_von_Braun haha indeed, thank you 😊
This dude is crazy
I hope one day to be able to edit my KSP2 videos to speed them up, poor optimization hopefully gets figured out sooner than later.
Thank you for another great video.
im sure it will, game gets a little better with every update :P
This is seriously impressive, considering how jank KSP2 still is. What screen do you have that's 5k2k? I've noticed you record in ultrawide. Also, wow did not expect a 3070ti to be able to drive that resolution in KSP2.
It did take a lot of patience xD
I got a 1440x3440 (aw3418dw) and i record in the same rez. My best guess is that youtube doesnt have native support for 1440 ultrawide, so it encodes the video as 4k.
You "cheated" to get round a bug if the game wasnt bugged you wouldnt have had to do it. You made all the circumstances exactly the same so Imo it isnt cheating it was a bug work around. The Devs really need to fix the trajectory lines when leaving celestial bodies though I had a retro grade burn from duna to kerbin that literally changed into a prograde burn from duna to dres its ridiculous.
Wow, I don't think I could spend that long building a single craft. I would probably attempt it with a mid-course refuelling (or several, with save-file editing to fix the re-docking bug). Very impressive, though! Have you tried it with the atmospheric heating in the latest patch? Curious to see how it fares :)
I might give it a go once the next patch is out, since there will be re-entry rebalancing
I have been able to fix the Delta V and not being displayed and not being able to create maneuver nodes issue by turning infinite propellant on and off. Nice video! I got to a space plane about half that size and lost patience with the FPS limitations involved.
sadly, that didnt help this time round since its a different bug. Its caused by disabling a currently running engine (swerv) and then staging a new set of engines. I sadly had to do it or else the swerv would have burned all of its hydrogen before i even got to the required altitude on Eve.
very cool.
I really like your quality content, it's well produced, well narrated, nicely shot and edited. Just one comment: the plural form of any word NEVER requires an apostrophe. It's "Kerbals", not "Kerbal's", "Planes", not "Plane's", "ts" not "'t's".... Your grammar should be on par with the rest of the video!
oh shit haha.
Glad to hear youre enjoying my vids :P
Very cool mission. I wonder if something like this would still be possible once re-entry heating is added to the game, that always made landing anything on Eve a huge pain in the ass in KSP 1.
Also, I wouldn't consider anything you did cheating. A) it was to fix bugs that were out of your control, B) you didn't benefit from it, and C) you openly told us about it.
yah, it would still be possible, tho the craft would need considerably more drag to slow down in Eve's upper atmosphere, so would require a re-design
How’d you open aeroGUI? F12 doesn’t work for me since the last update
intercept dissabled it for literally no reason.
If you want to aces it, you need to install ''cheat menu'' mod and f12 will once again bring back the aero gui
i wonder what people would be able to do when ksp2 gets optimized and all the bugs get fixed
also whats the mod you use for getting the plane to eve without doing a whole mission for it?
Its called lazy orbit. As far as i know, at the moment, its not been updated so there is no real way to run it. Hopefully someone picks it back up
Have you had a chance to try this now that the 'For Science' update is out? I'm curious if the design still holds up.
The design would definitely need to be changed up, and at this current moment, i doubt its possible since heating in ksp2 is a bit over tuned. Once re-entry is properly sorted, eve plane is definitely something ill want to revisit.
I recognise that plane from your last stream
Yup! I try to stream all of my builds for videos :) Tho sadly, since i got exams rn, i wont have the time to stream for the next week or two.
1:40, did you build that plane, and if you did, what video was it
I did, tho it was a very fast build just for demonstration purposes :P
Oh okay just wanted to be sure
you can start from the mountain so its doesnt take as much power
Eve mountain helps a lot, but i felt like it would be a bit of a cheese to do it that way :P wanted to start off near sea lvl.
Good lord it's massive. I'd call it 2FPS
game also runs at 1/10 real time speed, so just because im getting a whopping 3fps, doesnt mean the game is actually running ''that well'' xD
My guy stole a NASA computer just for this
that was actually the hardest part of the whole project
the sound it makes whet the plane takes of isn't actually the plane its his computer
lmao
Great video but these bugs are unacceptable as a 2k hour KSP1 veteran I am still not buying the game.
Thx for letting me know about the crappy game performance and bugs.
tbh, performance has been getting better with ever patch... but the game is still in a really rough spot.
If you got so many hours in ksp1, youd probably enjoy ksp2 as well.... but you do have to deal with a lot of jank, and honestly, modded ksp1 is better then ksp2 lol
the thing where you cant create or edit maneuver nodes without fuel is just the dumbest thing ever even when everything works as intended. let alone with bugs like that...
you actually could in the previous patch as well, this is new lol
@@Kerman_von_Braun i know
I honestly think KSP2 has been given too much clout. People are far too used to "one million percent done, all graphics crispy at 240fps".
As for the mission, that looked fun! I need to get better at building and flying SSTOs
How u can play at 3 FPS lol
3FPS?😂
Jesus what are your system specs? And you used runescape music? How dare you!!
nothing to fancy, i got them in the description :P Its more just suffering for your enjoyment xD
Russian boy?
nope, Lithuanian
What’s up Kerman von green
This is a joke if it annoys you at all I apologize and I’ll take down this comment
Your xp wasting
i had an hour of free time during every ascents, so i could grind xD
Geezuz christ they didnt even add new planets? :o So happy and sad i didnt buy ksp 2
