Love outdoor rinks. I have one 5 minutes from work in Brentwood Missouri. I skate almost every day after work. During the summer, there is always good competition there. During the winter because of early darkness, I usually just skate by myself except on weekends. I just turned 64. I probably skated 150 times in 2023.
Eating my lunch, watching your video, looking out the window... now going to my local outdoor rink to dangle and sauce... thanks for the inspiration!

Ice hockey certainly has its advantages over inline, but playing a game out in the sun on a nice day is simply unbeatable.

I train at an ODR every day. It’s free and nobody uses it. Just me. Tiling might not be the best, but feeling the wind on your face is.

Has anyone played at an outdoor rink with outdoor tiles? What was your experience?

Only have one outdoor rink near me here in NYC which is pathetic. So many basketball courts and no hockey rinks. I know it's not Canada but the U.S. needs more outdoor hockey rinks! I have written to my local park officials and never get any reasonable responses. I have started skating at my local school yard on weekends that has a small area of smooth asphalt with soccer nets (yes soccer nets!). I have contemplated buying a hockey net to donate to the yard but I don't have permission to lock it up and I know it will get stolen if left there. Frustrating.
Look up nyc_street_hockey on Instagram. They have leagues and nets at basketball courts. Talked to one of the guys and they seem pretty cool
