Short answer: I don't think so currently. Looking at the current magpul website offerings, I think the closest feature set would be the 17S version, but that would require the user to provide their own 17S lever mount, and would require a rail-platform, instead of M-LOK. Hmm.
I had the same question- seems to me it should just pop off like a shoulder strap attachment. Maybe it wouldn't be as stable/ secure? we can't be the only ones thinking this...
Could also be a combination of 'ease ability to manufacture', 'reduce number of components', 'intended retail price cap', 'controlled release of feature improvements' , etc.
