    This is the best review of a broadhead I think I have ever seen. Your thoughtful comments and reasonings are awesome. This video is better than anything SEVR has on their own website. They should hire you!

    Great video. I ordered 6 2.0's.

    Nice well thought out and presented video. I'm a 26 & quarter inch draw. Coming from a Trad background I like a heavy arrow. Always used a fixed head. I wanted to extend my range a little. So got the Sevr. However, I've been using the Sevr Robust as it's 150g. On a 550g arrow from a 75lb compound it passes though no problem. Like you I'd not use mechanical on Elk. I killed my Elk Cow with fixed with 2 blade with a 55lb recurve and 635g arrow. Thanks for posting your experiences & thoughts.

    I hunt mainly just desert mule deer and shots could be about 80-100 yards if the conditions are good like you said. I was thinking about switching to the 1.5 or 2.0, but not sure which ones. I was wondering what your experiences is with them at that distance with penetration? I’m 28.5 draw and pulling 70lbs with a 445 grain arrow with about 13% foc just for a reference.

      I know a guy about your specs and he shoots the older 2.1s just fine out long on smaller game like deer or smaller. His arrow may be more around the 480gr area (shooting a 4mm Easton FMJ).
      On my super short 26.5" draw at 70 lbs. I've had some luck with the 1.7s. Not a complete pass through but goes to opposite shoulder. These were at 80. I'd be better off with the 1.5s probably. I just haven't had the chance to shoot the 1.5s into anything yet.

    have you tried the thorn broadheads? the blades are fully concealed until impact and for practice they have these little snap on rings that prevent the blades from deploying for use in foam targets, when ready to hunt, just snap-off the little ring and blades will deploy on impact again. i haven't had the chance to try them yet, but I'm definitely curious.

      I have not tried. I’d be curious and cautiously not so optimistic how my lower energy short draw would do with it given that almost hollow point tip on it. If I ever get it, I’ll review it. Though, I’m not really a “gear junkie” type. I rarely buy new stuff. Cost of living in Hawaii is too high 🤣.

      @@ryankohatsu8836 I hear ya man, the tip is definitely a little strange looking...kinda like a sharpened metal version of those things that keep the pizza box lid from smashing onto the top of the pizza...I like the idea of titanium tips though so I'm sure I'll end up with a set of the 2.2" cut rifts before too long.

    I love my rage broadheads. Heard really good thing about the sevrs so gonna give some a try this season if I am lucky enough to let an arrow fly.

    Great info, thank you. Given your experience with the 1.7’s, do you think the 2.0’s would reliably pass through whitetails up to 200 lbs? 30” 70 lb. draw. Thanks.

    • @ryankohatsu8836
      @ryankohatsu8836  Před 3 lety

      I’ve hunted with guys that shoot the older 2.1s and have a 28” draw around and they pass through pretty easily. However, I should note they’re shooting arrows maybe 460 gr and above. So in your case, hopefully you’ll have a decent weight arrow (not too light) and avoid heavy bone structure and I think you’ll be fine or pass through. There’s a balance to play between losing some penetration but gaining forgiveness and accuracy with a mechanical vs giving up a little forgiveness for a fixed blade alternative that will have the better penetration for sure. I think it depends on the archer and what they’re trying to accomplish with their setup given what distances they intend to shoot, wind, their ability, etc.

    I noticed the tabs sit about the same or maybe even above the blade edge when deployed. Does that seem like it would affect the cut? Or could? What is your opinion on that?

    How was the entrance wound with the sevr 1.7

    • @ryankohatsu8836
      @ryankohatsu8836  Před 3 lety +1

      Entrance wound was everything the cut should be (at least the 1.7" for sure). I did not get a complete pass through as just the point was sticking out the other side hide. 80 yards on the 26.5" draw, not too bad I feel. Probably the 1.5 version might have passed through for me or rather I have some experience with the rage hypo +p passing through at that distance even for my short draw.

    Do you leave the O-ring on the sevr when hunting with it?

    • @ryankohatsu8836
      @ryankohatsu8836  Před 3 lety

      yes. in “hunt mode,” for lack of a better term, the oring is the blade retention system.

      I slide a orong down towards the vanes, and have a 2nd oring on the bolt shaft, always ready incase I need one quick, Ive shot the 150 grain Robusto now going on 3 yesrs now.
