Meranti turns really nice and is very light in its density heres a link for some more information on it!
Part of the Shorea group of hardwoods, Meranti is an easy to work timber that varies in colour, from light pink to deep red. Featuring a coarse, even texture and an interlocked grain, this material has a great overall hardness and a stable strength.
Meranti varies in durability but offers good strength and hardness overall, providing additional resistance to decay and insect attack. Responds reasonably well to glues, nails and screws. Machines and finishes well.
With a pale red/pinkish colour, Meranti is an attractive wood with many uses.

Leave a comment if you are interested in a straight talking review of this im not reallly sure its my bag but these tools are becoming more of interest to the common man i feel these days! A rough review would be:
Quality of the machine is ok.
Software - Terrible
Quality of the engrave - Good (this is my first one in all honesty i wasnt sure what to expect but its better than i thought)
Its very repeatable and i am overall very happy with it i think with some tweeks and a slightly better deisign of the frame it would be a lot better.
Focal adjustment is straight forward and easy.
Ive used this on: wood, hard and soft, annodised ali (Wasnt great) Raw ali (didnt touch it) Mdf, PLy, Leather (works great) Wouldnt cut anything really its for me souly for engraving and etching.

Ah those famous last words.... another bloody bowl 😂🤣. Lovely Job J. Looks like that turned up a treat. I still haven't got around to setting up my laser head on my CNC.. I've only had it three years 😂🤣. I know it is going to be a pain to set up (properly)... so pyrography it is for me 😂. Nice video. Keep em coming 😁👍
