It's interesting how you note Mars was bearded and more world-wise, compared to his younger, more impetuous equivalent, Ares. Almost as if the god himself matured and grew with the ages when the Greek gods migrated to Rome.
The Greek Gods didn`t migrate to Rome. They were in fact different gods that became interchangeable over time. They do have a common ancestor though. When the Aryans conquered Europe they brought their gods with them. The Roman and Greek gods were both Aryan gods as were the Hindu gods btw but during the Axial age the Hindu gods got reformed by the Hindu priest class to better reflect the times and turn people away from Budhism while in Europe this didn`t happen and so the Christian God won out.
You know I want to believe that Mars is actually a mature Ares, when Aphrodite's love changed him and after the Peloponissian war between Sparta and Athens (basically Ares against Athena, and Ares won) he realized that mindless violence alone will never bring someone happiness. That's why he established Rome and founded the practice of order and peace through military might.
@@worldcollider8080 You knwo that Rome as a city was 753 and that they were fighting and concurring from the moment they foundet there place. @@hi23nutzer21 You are making this fictional story way too complicated for no reason. Alexander is a chapter that is not needed to be mixed in. So to the Romans Mars is the mature aspect of war. Does he also represent the strategic warfare, or that falls on Minerva? I mean to the Greeks Ares is the malicious and tragic side of war; while Athena is the goddess of Wisdom (and strategic warfare).
Minerva was the roman goddess of wisdom and craft but NOT war in any aspect, Mars was the god of war (in all it's aspects) as well a the god of rightfull vangence. so Mars was essentialy Athena+Ares+Nemessis. In Albanian we write and spell the 3rd month as Mars, also his consort in Greek mythology, Aphrodite, in Albanian is written and spelled Afërdita, meaning "the day is near", while this word/name in Greek means nothing. Also, first in Elbasan, the city I was born and live in, and now a national holiday, 14th of Mars/March is celebrated as "Dita e Verës", meaning Spring Day, but we celebrate it in honor of Mother Nature, or Gaia of the Primordials.

Mars Etrusco was a god of agriculture and had no connection with wars initially, who did this was the god Laran, this one was supposed to be the Roman version of Ares. In addition to the fact that the Greeks of the Etruscan era were Mycenaean and had a Mythology different from the current Greek. 2- Roman myths with Greek papers were just translations of legends told by Greek poets and teachers who were brought by the Romans to their territory.
