  • Facing unemployment and his girlfriend's rejection, writer Eddie is sure that he has no future. That all changes when an old friend gives him a drug that produces enhanced mental acuity. Stoked on the untested chemical, Eddie rises to the top of the financial world and attracts the attention of a tycoon who intends to use him to make a fortune. But terrible side-effects and a dwindling supply threaten to collapse Eddie's house of cards.

Since when taking the drug you can remember anything you’ve ever seen before then you could learn how to speed read really fast and read books on how to reverse engineer the drug. That would be the safest way in my opinion to do it.

Also, secrets going to be out anyways because they're own by a corporation that wants to sell it to the public. However what Eddie did that makes him special is he successfully created a clean and superior drug.

    14:22 you forgot to mention that Eddy tricked the blind guy by shouting “He is on the right, shoot him” in russian! And this is one of many significant cases in which the pill really helps!

    Correction : Moura didnt get the passive NZT effect but he had chemist tweak and created NZT without the adverse side effects. Although, he is a superior user than the others because of the prolong usage of clean NZT.
    Spin off series of this film is a nice watch as well.

    After seeing this movie, I always hoped that a drug like this actually exist so that I can finally turn my mediocre mind and life around. The closest ones I've tried are coffee, Adderall, Ritalin, Meth, microdosing in shrooms, etc...
    I'm not even the "Rain Man" type of autistic, just the "smart enough to realize your life is shit and there's nothing you can do about it" type!
    Those listed may give you that "energy"/spike like in the movie, but none of those can actually give you enhanced intellect depicted here.

      Perhaps the drug alters the minds neurological structure temporarily to use 100% at all times for a while. It might be having a seizure compared to an average brain, but its structure allows it to form coherency and retain cognitive functions.

    Really liked the film when i was teen, the idea of the pill that would make me smart and rich without any real effort fascinated me. When i grew up a little, my opinion completely shifted for the exact same reason.

      Theres certain drugs like, Modafinil, Adrafinil, and Adderol, you dont turn into this guy after taking 1 of them but they really help bring back memories, creativeness, physical endurance and energy im not a neuroscientist but im presuming these have a crash aswell and like any other drug if you stop taking it after consuming loads of it your body won't function properly until you refuel it, this goes with every drug in the world

      Ha, let me guess you have never done drugs before? Drugs and using sparingly don't often go hand in hand. That's the problem with all drugs and how people get addicted, if something like this existed it would probably be the most addictive drug ever known, it's one thing to come down from a high, but to come down from using the full extent of your brain, I could see how that would mess you up big time.

      And history is littered with What ifs that became thats hows.
      But that's all irrelevant, my original point stands, I enjoyed Limitless AND Lucy, so enjoying both is possible.

    yea there is a series too, derived from the concept. it's like one of those "FBI has super-smart civil asset helping them" kinda series, but it has some brilliant extrapolations of the effects (different protagonist is more of an artsy person who gets all arts and crafts when under the effects of NZT, for example), and it's kinda worth the watch. Just realized I'm commenting this on a movie recap, to everyone who doesn't have the patience to watch a movie, to watch an entire series. yes, I'm dumb.

    I'm bipolar and honestly, it feels like this in a manic state. In my last manic episode I was up for 6 days straight. At night my mind would run and run and I would come up with crazy plans and sketches for all sorts of things from flood protection systems to alternative transportation methods to different frameworks for educational systems and even solutions for pandemic management reform. I felt like God on Earth, I wouldn't even eat, just work and work. I also had extreme levels of extroversion, confidence and grandiosity. You feel lamazing in the manic state, but then there's the depressive state, where you feel like utter trash. Super lethargic, sad, and unmotivated, even suicidal. It's a crazy disorder and tough to live with. Luckily I'm on meds now and the treatment works well.

      My friend was bipolar and he was a blast when he was manic. He started taking lithium towards the end but ended up killing himself. It did help him a lot when he took it

    I would make it a priority to hunt down all NZT operations and make myself the sole user. Become the Hidden King of the World. Even better, learn chemistry, figure out how to manufacture the drug, and experiment on it yourself to avoid any 3rd party leak from occuring.
