    This is the best butter chicken I've ever cooked! Quite a bit different to my usual method, but night and day better.
    Char-grilling the marinated chicken really does add a nice smokey flavor and that spoon of honey is a nice x-factor!
    I used a slightly different spice set and I can't get chick-pea flour. But the result was delicious. My wife has upgraded my butter chicken to restaurant class!

You will get cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder ( Kashmirir ed chilli powder is mostly for color, not necessary to add, normal chilli powder will do), saffron. If you do not get garam masala, you can roast cardamom, clove, cinnamon, mace, nutmeg and star anise, and then grind it, this is homemade garam masala. Fenugreek leave or pwder I am not sure though, you have to search for it.

This way we can see real food being made and honoring its origins and traditions. If not, we are going to see lots of mango chutney and chilly jams faux-pas!

    Whatta man you are Jamie Oliver! I love how you brought in an Indian Chef-a woman at that-and followed her lead with a great attitude and sense of humor. How considerate and respectful of you-to bring an Indian Chef to your channel to showcase this popular “Indian” dish. A lot more chefs should take this approach.

I have finally made a good Indian curry ( it was one part of my cooking that I always failed in) Thanks Foodtube and great recipe Maunika!!! Believe the hype!!!!!!

    Hello! I am so glad I stumbled upon this video, I must have played it back 5-6 times as I am making the recipe for my son who loves chicken dishes and I am vegetarian. Between Jamie and Mauneika I had a good idea of what the spices were used for and how much I would need to adjust. So far so good, I have placed the chicken for marination for 30 min. Can't wait to grill the chicken on skewers and prepare the sauce!!! So excited to see my son's face. Thanks to both of you.

    Unbelievably amazing. The best butter chicken I have tried so far. Yum! The only problem was the chicken tikka turned out to be too hot. Next time, I would try cutting down on the chillies and the chilli powder for the marination. The gravy tasted superb though. Thanks Maunika and Jamie

    BE CAREFUL WITH HOW MUCH CREAM YOU PUT!!!!! I cooked the recipe so perfectly, but I added too much cream and it diluted the depth of flavour :( :( So i'm cooking it again tonight to redeem myself. Add a bit of cream and then taste it. If you think it needs more cream, then add a bit more and taste again to ensure u don't make the same mistake I did...
    TIPS!!!
    You can always stirfry the chicken instead... And then cook the rest of the gravy in the same pot. And also, if it's hard for u to get a hold of saffron or the fenugreek, just leave it out. Still tastes so good without it :)))

    • @GeraltofRiviaa88
      @GeraltofRiviaa88 Před 9 lety +6

      KATHYY4 Agree upon the cream bit and very strongly too. Too much cream also adds an unwanted fatty feel to the dish.

      +KATHYY4 Dried fenugreek is most important in this, you can get it from any Indian shop, its called Kasuri methi and its cheap. Yeah, you won't find it in the supermarket.
