- John Mayer performs "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" live during interview on Spotify's Call Her Daddy Podcast on Wednesday 12-21-2022 for Alex's Holiday Special Episode
- Hudba
Let’s be honest, all of us guitar players, this is how we wish we could sing/play to our crush 😆
Fuck a crush I just wish I sang and played that good
True shit bro
As a bass player
@@laumarc.g2442 I’m sorry. Ur in gods hands now 🙏
God no.
That couch is still soaked to this day
John strums the last two chords and looks at her so casually like he didnt just lay down an entire performance. What a legend. Love you JM.
smart guy, looked at her when he said " so I can hold you in my arms " ;)
As a bass player, I sadly know I'll never have a woman look at me playing the way she looked at John no matter how good I get.
as a guitar player, neither do I. You have to sing, and also if you look like John also helps
@@Luismayer77 lool
Add 2 more strings and you're in dawg!
@@Luismayer77 electric guitar players can still get it if they played the melody
@@suprovo5117 actually I play electric. With a loop pedal I play the chords and then impro over those looped chords, feels like singing
One of his best songs ever and done on acoustic!
This is such a typical Guitar-Player response at the end, this dude just left this girl breathless and possibly even in love with him and he feels a little bit embarrased cause he couldnt play his solos on the accoustic guitar as well as he liked to.
sebastianrockl ... .. Perhaps it ´d be a little helpful having a good acoustic fingerstyle player by John´s side ??? ´don´t know... 😶 I didn´t know John and his song at all. First, I heared "Slow dancing .." watching fingerstyle player Eiro Nareth covering John´s song, noticing by hearing how nice this song actually is. Sorry, I´m a little dissapointed now watching this interview...
So true
@@bone9683 When John does the full band recording live, there are two guitars. They do a split of rhythm and leads... mainly John on lead. He does a bunch of fancy stuff in the middle of the verses. It's really a beautiful song. I like the album version but you should really listen to the live "Where The Light Is" version. My favorite recording of SDIABR ever! It's the version that I play myself on the guitar.
@@Lovell93...... ... thanks for your replying! Coming across John´s beautiful song from a funny completely different direction named fingerstyle player Eiro ... a small thin Russian, very shy but, for me so great in playing acoustic. First thoughting he doesn´t cover blues songs at all, one evening I watched his vid covering "Slow dancing ..." ....
You couldn´t have known that! Thank you again! ( Loving guitar music I only can play some chords on acoustic )
@@bone9683 That's awesome! Hey, just keep on playing, don't give up, and you'll be killing it in no time! Guitar is hard to learn. I play a multitude of instruments. Guitar is my main instrument, and it's the one I struggled with the most to get really good. Just gotta keep at it. Fight through the frustration and keep attempting whatever you're trying to learn and eventually you'll nail it and it'll be so satisfying!
Even John feels awkward at the end of a song.. I love that final excusation about the lead and acoustic guitar stuff..
lmao she's absolutely melted
Imagine being there when this was released. Prime Mayer was untouchable
Mayer is still in his prime and he is still untouchable.
@@chrisashby32 prime in the sense that he can still play then yes. But his songwriting and melody choice is far from what it was the early to mid 2000s. Few would deny continuum is his finest work. Hearing every song from that album for the first time the day it was released was amazing.
@@hawaiianectar9 Born & Raised and Sob Rock are better albums than Continuum, no contest. I listen to them all the time, and they are a hell of a lot easier to play and sing along to too. Sure Continuum has some cool songs, some crazy licks, and Stop This Train, but the strength of the other two outshine it overall, imho.
@@khimarosnaw. You are in the minority here. Guaranteed. Keep practicing though, you’ll get there.
He's only gaining speed. His prime will always be what's next.
John is one of a kind. That guy is special.
Her reaction is exactly how I would react LOL
Did he just imitate delay? Hah
This guy! Save some for us John! Good lord!
yep. so cool I noticed that too
Time stamp pls

@@FocohiAcoustic vocal delay... Cool! I thought guitar delay
@@asmit_plays Haha that would've been sick
This song is sooo good, and John Mayer plays it in a variety of versions, depending upon the type of guitar… look up in you tube. One is better than the other. Such a soulful and skilled musican😎
he def hit that after
Broooo lmao
Ofc
I'm dead
True
jajaja, that look he gives her once he finishes the song, is like "so, where's my sugar?"
This song continues to inspire it might be one of the greatest songs ever written thank you JM

🤣
@@erikkibler3466 What are you laughing about? They're not wrong. John Mayer is an inspiration to many players... Eric Clapton himself even said John Mayer is a master on the guitar. Slow Dancing in a Burning Room is one of the biggest songs of all time. It's hard to find a player that doesn't know how to play at least some rendition of the song. I'm more of a metal guy, myself, but John is still on my daily playlist and an artist who's songs I play on guitar myself all the time.
She's just there sitting with her mouth wide open haha
Guitar playing dammm😮❤❤❤
Thanks Roxanne, this Is Amazing
this is so good haha
The interesting thing is as a guitar player watching him, I have startlingly similar reactions as the host :D
To have John Mayer play and sing to me would have been a dream lol
This is my favorite version of this song you can’t hear.
I like the little touch of Steven Tyler at the end (I don’t wanna burn I don’t wanna burn)
Talented beyond and a good looking f r 😅 he's humble for everything he is.
Rizzmaster 5000
she came like 8 times during that
We all did, buddy
She is soaked! Dang!
The first night I hooked up with my ex she told me how much she loved John. Should have realized right then it would never work out for us.
A video of a video. Wow
Lol her face at 1:26, I love it
He got a Gluck Gluck 3000 after this
lol!!!!!

And you can see it too
We're going down
And you know that we're doomed

You were the one I tried to draw
How dare you say it's nothing to me?

I'll make the most of all the sadness
You'll be a bitch because you can
You try to hit me just to hurt me
So you leave me feeling dirty
'Cause you can't understand
We're going down
And you can see it too

Imagine being a professional recorder of audio, having one of the greatest guitar players of all time on your show, and then do a terrible job of recording audio.
Two things I've learned over the decades as a professional recording engineer, live sound engineer, and radio/podcast producer, host, and broadcaster.
1) I am a perfectionist when it comes to audio I produce, whether its a song or broadcast/podcast. I would have ensured this mix was warm, crispy, balanced, dynamic, and "loud" enough before digital stream processing. (This mix was boxy, poorly compressed, poorly balanced (mixed) poorly EQ'ed (for music), etc.)
But also...
2) Meh...not gonna let an imperfect mix ruin my confidence in myself. Doesn't matter how long you have been a professional, you will have bad days and bad mixes from time to time. Don't beat yourself up over a bad day or "meh" mix.

What happened once the camera was turned off?😅 at least one person in the room switched on..
Lord… I wish!
who botched the guitar volume???
Dunno
Sounds like the guitar was only picked up by the vocal mic - someone forgot to record the other one?
Watch👌
Man that is a crazy nice guitar. Everything about that guitar is perfect. Except johns hands. Those are god made lol

Guys, Your Body is a Wonderland, too.
Bro knows how to shred a guitar, what else do I need to say 🤷🏽♂️
unapologetically
I’m just trying to figure out how he’s playing it XD
We appreciate the greatest guitar player of our generation, simple as that
mayer vidbe nice
She definitely has WAP after that
John at the end explains about the solo but the girl was like NO, I don't know how I can take it anymore. LOL *wet emoji
does anyone have a link to how to play this version?
nice ending with a bit of aerosmith's "what it takes"
Him saying they’re some guitar parts that are solo haha

How does he do the tremolo on the bridge part???? I’ve been trying to get it and I can’t

This is the ultimate singer songwriter fantasy, to be paid and filmed serenading a gorgeous girl (or boy!) with your own song and they have THAT reaction, the one tha makes you blush and go "it... it wasn't THAT good, c'mon..."
That absolutely wasn't his song tho

Nailed it!
Yep
Her overreated face ruined the sacred moment
awful microphone work, mustve been really hard to connect cables and or have a podcast in general
He looks like a tweaker
Ok now I just hate the guy. I'm struggling to learn this and swear it's harder on acoustic - then he just blows it away...on acoustic..making a woman swoon like it's nothing...while still being the most down to earth nice human
Fkn John Mayer lol
everything is harder on acoustic, I cant think of a single song that isnt, it is literally the hardest form of guitar
@@nbassasin8092 Setup is key though. I've since gotten an electric, but also switched from 12 to 10 gauge on acoustic, lot easier.
@@outermarker5801 practise is also key
but even though you are right, it doesnt change the fact that acoustic is just harder to play regardless, sure there are more complex stuff on electric, but that same complex stuff is near impossible to play on acoustic so it still means it is a harder instrument to play
