Dave: Tells Howard what his song is about
Howard: *No*
Howard: yeah but are hero’s ordinary? Are you saying that they all disappoint you?
Dave: *no*

Kudos my hero, leaving all the mess
Yea we all watched the same video, and read every other comment
Massive twat
This song hits differently now, especially with Taylor just sitting there watching. RIP Taylor.
For real bro. I just watched Studio 666 last night and I couldn't help thinking Grohl and Taylor were related. They must have felt like brothers.
I swear I cried when I read the news.
had no idea.. bro RIP the world lost a hero
I came back to this video now for this exact reason, always loved how taylor is sitting there being happy listening to dave... my heart is truely broke today
My God this is beautiful, RIP Taylor 🙏
It’s fucked bro
I love how Dave is sitting there, trying to explain how Hero is about just ordinary, everyday people and Howard and Robin are so far removed from actual people that they just can't grasp such a simple concept.
howard is a journalist, so he has to ask that. people thought that when the song came out. he had to give him a chance to discuss it
Love this song about Kurt.
LMAO
He had been giving 300 chances prior to this exact show in seperate interviews. Howard brought up Kurt everytime he could in this interview @@sabot4ge

Kurt Cobain was weak and couldn’t hold Dave’s Guitar pick! And Layne Stayley my god Kurt couldn’t carry is microphone
Aaaa Sssdf More like “is this song about Kurt Cobain?!?”
with out kurt xobain he would be a fucking nobody. Get the BIG picture
@@kikeheebchinkjigaboo6631 I don't know, "Everlong" or "learn to fly" seem worthwile to me. Would Cobain be remembered if he didn't burn out so fast? Dunno. I mean when Stayley died it wasn't so much of a thing because his way of comitting suicide was more subtle and he was long over his prime and that shit was way above cobains.
@@kikeheebchinkjigaboo6631 I'm not even a fan of Foo Fighters, but you can't say this when Best of You exists...
Dave: "This next one is called 'My ex- girlfriend Shannon' "
Howard and Robin:
"That one's really about Kurt Cobain, right? "
Uber Driver “My Hero” was released in 1998, 5 years after Kurt’s death. Idk when the song was actually written, but there is definitely some influence of it either directly or indirectly. You can’t tell me the drummer of the biggest band in the entire world, writes releases a song 5 years after the frontman/friend of that same band died and it had no influence whatsoever on how he wrote this song?
Uber Driver underrated comment
Ha ha haaa. Nice.
Haha! I bet it still continues today.
This comments about Kurt cobain right?
Look at the smile on Taylor’s face as he listens to Dave
🥺🥺🥺

This is really hard to watch, RIP Taylor
This interview really shows how hard Dave had to try to shake the Nirvana drummer label.
The hell kind of person would want to shake that?
@@Dacijo i don’t think you really understand the problem, nirvana is over and it may be extremely sad but dave wants to be his own person and not just “the drummer of nirvana”.

I had just met a guy that was burned 75% of his body including his face. Spent a week with him guiding him in Alaska fly fishing. At the end of our week I noticed that I didn’t even see the injuries anymore. He tried to live a normal life and never complained. After he left camp I heard this song and knew what the song meant to me. P.S. a few years later his wife called me and told me that he had died but she wanted me to know that the week he spent with me was one of the highlights of his life. Little did she know that he was one of the highlights of my life I have never forgotten him.
God Bless you! And thank you for sharing this story
When you log the positive effects gained by helping people cope with serious trauma as a highlight. then you have your priorities in order.
What a beautiful story, incredible to see how someone can impact you with the simplest of things.

That was like asking Paul McCartney if John Lennon was his hero. No, he was his friend.
EdD5 lmao my grandpa is my grandpa, he is still my hero tho, one thing doesn’t make the other impossible
EdD5 I feel it was extremely rude to bring that up in the first place, and to keep talking about it even though you can see Dave is thinking “wtf man” is just fucking stupid! I hate the hosts. Also the black chick is fake as fuck
EdD5 or asking Paul McCartntey like 29+ times who broke up the Beatles 🤷♂️ I’m sure Paul and Ringo get sick of that question in every interview
So you're comparing Lennon and mccartney with grohl and cobain. Dickhead

There goes another hero, watch him as he goes… an extraordinary drummer and person.

RIP Taylor. This interview was one of the first things I thought of when hearing the news.
It's kind of funny because I watched this video the other day and had no idea who the guy sitting next to Dave was, so I looked it up and learned his name, and just now he died.
I thought of Taylor saying “YAhh” at the beginning and how it always made laugh..loved his onstage comedy and his relationship with Dave. 😢
Me too.
Same.
Who would’ve ever known all this hidden talent was sitting behind a drum kit of one of the worlds greatest bands ever

there's something so pure about this moment.
There's so much tech in today's music. DAWS, autotune, AI, effects. It's nice to watch someone just strum out a simple tune and have it sound beautiful.
Everyone thought every Foo Fighter song in the 90s was about Kurt Cobain
Brandon Ramirez And yet pretty much NONE of them were. The Foos of the 90s were about moving forward not looking back.
As far as I know, he never even mentioned anything about Kurt or anything, except in Learn to Fly where he said “burn out bright” which Kurt said one time in an interview.
Hence stupidity
Except for the ones about what a bitch Courtney Love is....
Thank god Robin chimed in or I would’ve been totally confused to the songs meaning. Saw Dave amd the FF open for RHCP a long time ago and he killed it. The Chili Peppers mailed it in unfortunately but did play my favorite song, I Could’ve Lied. All was forgiven lol, but Dave really earned my respect that night. My city was the last stop on a long tour and RHCP played like they couldn’t wait to get back to L.A. Dave never cheated the fans and I’ll always appreciate that.
everyone: *wont stop talking about his literal dead friend and how a song not written about him is about him*
dave: *chuckles in awkward*
Really though how sad is it that even though he's reestablished himself and built a great career with Foo (not at all discrediting his stuff wìth Nirvana of course) and still people would rather tell him "Talk to us about your best friend who literally killed himself" than "Talk to us about your music and your story". Press people would rather exploit his trauma than look at what he's accomplished with his remarkable passion and hardwork ffs

lol They had no clue what he was saying. The concept of non-celebrity people was so lost upon them. 🤣
Dave, during the early years of FF, was always seen as Cobain's sidekick by many people. He showed whole world that he was way more than that. Skilled musician, humble rock star and he Has a heart of gold. For me, if I have to make an honest comparasion, Dave has already overshadowed Kurt.

What about Kurt Cobain??
If you can even call it one lmao.
I mean. It's just Howard convincing Dave that the song he wrote is about Kurt.
The song is about whatever Dave Grohl says it's about.....
the song is about whatever you think it’s about
Or whatever you want it to be about.
Space Camp I kinda agree and disagree. The nice thing about a truly great song is that we can find our own meaning in it.
To grohl he has his meaning, but I feel different when I hear his song
Goddamm right
That's not how it works though... Music and art is meant for people with hearts, eyes, brains... that's the whole reason it is presented to people and not inanimate objects. Because the viewer converts it automatically to something to identify it. My hero can be anything you claim but when people remember hearing the devastating news of the last great rock singer dying tragically and then hearing a pretty song about "my hero" sung by one of Kurt's favorite people in the world... The world doesn't need any explanation and we mourn for Kurt and that void that has yet again opened up. Make it about the ice cream man... Sure... Whatever...
I listened to all the Versions out there and this is by far my favourite one.
Thanks for the love and care, are you a fan…where are you from?

It's weird to hear them talk about Kurt to him now, I guess it was still kinda fresh at that point. It really is a testament to how great Dave is as a musician where he seems to have transcended the whole Nirvana/Cobain thing despite how massive that was. When you hear the name "Dave Grohl" nowadays you're probably more likely to think of Foo Fighters than Nirvana, which to me is amazing. I can't think of any other musician who came from a massive band on the same level as Nirvana into another one and managed to shake off the image of the first.

So true
Who's the founder of megadeth? His fallout with Metallica was big and he is known for megadeth.
Only one that comes to mind to me is maybe Lennon with the Beatles or maybe Fogerty with CCR. Nobody however has came from a band as massive as Nirvana and then went on to create a staying power band as big as Foo Fighters that has remained relevant for almost 25 years now and counting. Nothing absolutely short of amazing!
