  • Square Enix is facing serious financial troubles, with their stock plummeting by over 60%, marking their biggest drop in 13 years. The company is predicting a significant decline in operating income, from ¥57 billion down to ¥40 billion this financial year. Under new President Takashi Kiryu, drastic measures are being taken, including project cancellations worth $140 million and widespread layoffs in Europe and the US.
Despite these challenges, Final Fantasy XIV continues to thrive, providing much-needed stability and revenue. As Square Enix navigates through this turbulent period, FFXIV stands out as a beacon of success.
We hope the PC versions of Final Fantasy XVI and VII Rebirth are released soon, so that more people can experience the magic these games have to offer.
In the meantime, FFXIV offers over 1,000 hours of content with its free trial, and the highly anticipated new expansion, Dawntrail, is on the way. Additionally, the much-discussed graphics upgrade is coming soon, with the promise of ongoing support from its developers for many years to come.
    Will it be enough?

VII Rebirth and XVI I would've bought on release if they were on PC... The XIV crossover event with XVI actually made me really excited for it, so I go look and... Nope. Can't buy it on PC while I'm hyped for it, and I am not buying a console. It was honestly bizarre to see that since XIV is on PC and was hosting the crossover event. Ah well.
Good to see they're moving in the right direction, now if they can just stay away from NFTs and AI too...

I would have bought both FF7 Rebirth and FF16 if they were on PC, either Epic Games or Steam I don't even care. But I have a gaming PC and I'm not buying a PS5 for a worse experience and 30 FPS to run 4K.

You still can’t find PS5s for a good price and already the PS6 has been announced so it’s just not worth it to grab one.

FFXIV will continue doing what it always does: keeping the company afloat through the wallets of RP players with too much free time and not enough to spend money on.

The subscription MMO model or F2P model have always been more profitable for years now.
But that's not a good thing and its not taking Square Enix "in an exciting direction".
The exciting direction are expensive and costly single player adventure games and RPGs.
Players themselves are to blame for playing lower and lower value mobile and gatcha game, and encouraging the industry the wrong way.
You can literally vote with your wallet to encourage which type of games gets made.
Though I will admit that I think the remake franchise (FF7) was not done well.

Man, I will buy FF7 Rebirth once it's available on PC, and Final Fantasy 16 also. Stop the exclusives and take my money.

ff16 was the best game i've played in so long. Im so excited for the pc release so other people can actually enjoy it. its a shame it got cucked sales-wise due to being an exclusive...

I'm about a year into playing on a real pc. Sold my XSX because of Gamepass on PC and still have my PS5 to play the exclusives. Beat FF16 and still going through Rebirth. I can't lie though if these dropped day 1 on PC, I would have sold my PS5. Sony knows what they're doing and that's why I'll keep my PS5 to play GTA6 day one. Then ill buy all three of these games again when they drop on PC. Who needs money? LOL

I played FF16, got bored by it, and stopped playing it. I didn’t really like the FFVII Remake, and I tried getting into Rebirth but in the end I felt disappointed.
I don’t think these games saved SquEnix, I think these games exist so SquEnix could stay on life support.

I can not protect science fiction for humanity. Exclusivity was your downfall. Hire Ai & make those VR worlds more immersive & fun for everybody.

If these final fantasy games were released on PC, i guarantee their disappointing sales wouldnt of been disappointing. PS5 has nothing going for it right now in terms of exclusives, and the hardware is worse than my PC, as someone said: i'm not buying a ps5 for a worse experience than what i can get on my PC right now. Once Stellar blade and FFXVI release on PC i'm definitely gonna buy them, not on release because Sony have no fucking clue how to make PC ports properly, maybe 16 will be a day one buy for me because, iirc, Yoshi-P said him and his team are doing a PC port themselves. Not leaving it to a third party like most sony pc ports are made.

Agree. Was a bad decision on SE's part to make it a PS5 Exclusive. If it was in both PS5 and PC, it would have sold more.
