Don’t get discouraged chuck, sometimes you have to kick a few frogs till you find your prince. You probably won’t want to wait as long as us but it took us roughly 18 months till we found our motorhome we got a 2011 auto roller on a fiat chassis and in all honesty it’s way better than the newer models it’s built like a tank… you will find the perfect one for you don’t let it get you down just think of the final outcome when you do find your perfect van. We felt like how you’re feeling and we thought we’d never find what we were looking for in our price range which was around your price range but we did. So don’t loose hope. As the time rolls by we are going to come to the end of season and more will come on the market. Keep your chin up what you’re looking for could just be around the corner xxx
I’m sorry that you are feeling so discouraged. Perhaps after a couple of weeks rest you’ll be ready to look again. It’s right at the middle of the high season so maybe there will be just what you want available in the autumn? Take care.

What a disappointing trip the roads today give no pleasure in driving and searching for the one van that fits the bill is a nightmare. Been there done that thoughts are with you both on this journey.

You're both showing an awful lot of grace and resilience through this topsy-turvy time of uncertainty and that's got to be a bit tiring at times. Take a break, do something totally different and maybe consider trying "fantasy" van shopping. Step away from the budget for a minute and go visit your favorite dealership and look for "the" van that ticks all your boxes. Ignore the price and just look around for something you really like. If you find the hidden gem that you both love, come back and tell us how much it. Right now, you're figuring out what you don't like, which is good. It might help to find what would feel like home to you and take it from there? Just a thought.

Hi there. From what we could see from your video and for the age of the RV the outside looked pretty good. The interior didn’t look like it has been abused just general wear and tear from being used. Having to clamber up onto that bed each night would put me off right away lol. Hopefully some dealerships closer to home will get some trade-in RV’s that you can look at. I am looking beyond the surface glamour of a van for clues that tell me there's horror down the road Judy. Having said that, there's horror down the road no matter what, its just out of control. There was a two mile que of stationery vehicles in the slip road leading off the m1 into Sheffield. Every lane of the motorway is full of traffic. There are jams at every roundabout, road works everywhere, even at night there are diversions everywhere. Yesterday was a living hell.
I wonder if Tracey can tell insurance that there is nothing in the price range they are offering and you should ask for more to get better quality on level with your van, I hope something comes up for you. Do not give up, it is difficult 😊

I would go down the line of repossession vans, that’s where suppliers go, you have cash which most people buying doesn’t. Don’t rush into it, shop around.
It must be hard having to look when you were happy with the van that you had. After January can be a good time to look. There aren't many buyers so more chance to get a bargain.
Have a break, wait till money in your hand, otherwise you will be stressed out, a lot of cow boys out there don’t rush, they will take advantage of you otherwise 😆
Don’t let your insurance company rip you off. It you home you needs to find a like for like home and give evidence to your insurance company. Don’t accept what they say they are going to give you. I I had a similar scenario with a car that got was a total loss due to another driver , with persistence and evidence that I couldn’t replace my car for anything similar it did get paid out for the price I paid for the car. It more difficult with a motor home because they can be very individual but don’t settle for what they say that can give you. All I provided to my insurance company were 3 examples of 3 similar vehicles with similar mileage and the offered me the she price as I bought my original car. On top of that my insurance company must have paid a fortune for a bmw convertible for 6 weeks as a curtesy car as at the time the did a like for like as a replacement car. That car must have cost more the my car was actually worth. Please don’t give up perusing a better settlement, it you home you are luck to have family to help you. Best wishes.

Oh I’m so glad you walked away from that, it was so old looking compared to your old van…… Trevor the van you missed out on shows they are out there in your price range. But don’t ever pay the asking price, always knock them down…… it’s so disheartening travelling and then being disappointed, done it many times with cars. See what money you get first, then hire a car and go looking is my advice. It’s such a big decision and I would hate you to get a rubbish van…. It’s stressful… take care x

They MOT them Helen. It had damp ingress, and it had done 90000 miles, although that's not a lot for a Ford Transit engine I believe. Anyway we are totally peed off with it all, so we are stopping looking.

No, not looking anymore, I don't know about anybody else, but I find it a ghastly experience. Someone says "don't buy such and such a van, they are badly made and fall to pieces", and yet there is a perfectly nice friendly chap at a decent looking dealers happy for me to buy such a vehicle.
It doesn’t matter if they know you are coming. It is safety to not unlock that door. Someone can come along in seconds & steal the bottle or start a fire. It’s the right protocol.
I kept thinking about what a performance it would be clambering over each other when needing a pee in the night in that bed 😅 ….Did look a bit tacky the outside as well, not as good as the one you lost 😢….Loving Pat’s choice of grub, not so much yours Trevor😊

We were the same. Absolutely cheesed off wìth overpriced tatty made modern motorhomes. Then we discovered our vw clubman autosleeper ,its nearly 25 yrs old, cost us 18,000 3 yrs ago and we have never been more happy. Dont dismiss these oldie Autosleepers.big or small like ours. Built like tanks ,old school,real wood and fibre glass bodys.
Don't waste time and energy visiting sales establishments. Use online for your hunting and only go viewing if they have something you like the look of. Ring the agents and tell them what you are looking for and that you're cash buyers...let them do your leg work. They look out for what you want at the auctions.
We have, but there's nowhere at Traceys where you can park a car, it's just a mad house, and Caravans are too much work, and we like to free camp occasionally and do pub stops.

We don't deliberately set out to buy from a dealer, it's just that all the vans that pop up in our price range and our desired layout are located at dealers. Pat and I are stopping looking for vans, it's just grinding us down.
I havnt seen a low profile Rimor or I would of warned you before. Do not buy, they are like Fiat were in the 70's, cheap, cheerful and falls to bits in minutes.

Have you tried Lowdham caravan and motor homes? They often take in part exchange motor homes and resell them, might be worth a phone call.

Have you considered getting back your damaged vehicle and getting it repaired although this would depend on the category of the damage?
