The Sony Xperia 1 VI is a great looking phone with a lot of upgrades but has a few disappointments as well that make looking at the Sony Xperia 1 V, or keeping your Xperia 1 V, a decent move.

I think the thing most people fail to talk about is battery life. I had a 1V battery was OK...not great. I could do maybe 5-6 SOT in a 16-17HR day...I could easily kill it in a day. 1VI looks to have amazing battery life. Tests are showing 10-11HRS of SOT in 2 days of use...with still a few percent to go. This could be a legit 2 day phone. Battery life looks to be better then 15 PRO MAX. That's the deal breaker for me. Price is the only thing stopping me from ordering one. LOL. Here in Canada you can order them for $1600-$1800 CAD plus tax. Crazy. I'll wait for some discounts over the next few months hopefully.
If you are importing from UK i think there is a discount available
@@Ali-M2 just tried it. Lol came out to be over $500 more then local retailer. Only place found it cheaper is Aliexpress. Cause they don't charge tax. Likely gonna get dinged for taxes and broker fees... No good way to get one.
Yeah the price is the only negative for me, it's been more than 5 years since I bought my last phone. I want a great battery, so I bit the bullet. 1400 euro for me unfortunately, but it comes with the Sony XM5 headphones so it's not too bad
@@EddoWagt Congrats. I've put it in the cart a few times already. Haven't pulled the trigger though. Lol. Will wait for price to drop. Unless I lose the will. So tempting to just get it.
@@mattd1755 I was looking at the 1 V, which is still €1100, so I dont expect a huge price drop anyways. The headphones sealed the deal for me, which is something you'll lose out on if you wait
I'm upgrading from Xperia 1 III to Xperia VI and I love it. My only complaint is the removal of the notification LED. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the telephoto Macro camera.
Samsung is not an option, because they ditched the SD card slot. No SD card slot = no buy. Don;t care about the loss of the 4k screen. I'd rather have more battery life.
I think within a month it will be available at least on some sites at its official prices Xperia 1vi A great phone, but the problem is that Sony phones are not officially available everywhere
But the only solution is to do as I do. Buy an global version from other countries and within a week it will reach me and enjoy it and forget that it is not available in my country
The nice thing about this is that you will be unique because everyone around you has Apple and Samsung phones 😂
What would you recommend for someone who was looking return to sony snd looking at getting xperia v , should i now kust get the vi , as im not fussed about 4k on such a small screen, which camera is most user friendly
Hi Adam, do you consider X100 Ultra review on this channel?
Hi! I live in Estonia and we have Sony xperia 1 V 1299 eur and it comes with Sony PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition and xperia 1 VI 1399 eur and it comes with Sony WH-1000XM5. I had a xperia 1 V and I changed it to a Galaxy s24 ultra, but I'm not at all satisfied with this phone, I don't like the color gamma of the galaxy either on the camera or on the screen, and it's too fake for me, even if I set the color gamma to Normal, and this phone has all kinds of other camera bugs and it's constantly hot and i regret switching i really like xperia. So I want a lot of different information about the new Xperia 1 VI, because it can be bought in Estonia from June 10 and I really like Xperia. I'm sorry and sad that people in America can't buy Xperia phone anymore, I don't understand how telecom companies don't buy Xperia any more and how they can't order Xperia any more, because I think that the current Xperia 1 VI would buy many more people than the previous version of Xperia?! Thank you!
Checked 1 VI today, screen is worse than 1V, it’s typical Samsung like on S24 Plus but with FHD resolution. Compared camera with 10 VI, for some reason 2x looks better on 10 VI.
@@YisName Hi! I hope that when the xperia 1 VI is finally released to everyone and people get it, that there will be some kind of update like many other phone companies do, although if you buy it on the day of the launch, everything should be fine with the phones, but the last three years have shown , that no matter what the phone company is, the new phones are not completely ready and then new updates are released, both for the cameras and the operating system, etc., although I guess the screen resolution cannot be changed with it.
@@kritatali Yes, let's hope for fixes. I pre-ordered in last minutes yesterday, hope it will be processed. If not will skip, price without headphones is too high ~ 1520 EUR.
Is there a way to know when the 4K is active on an Xperia phone? I think my vision might not be good enough to notice a difference in quality between 1080p and 4K on a 6.5" screen
Yes. Programmer Mode > Show refresh rate
@@kch5922 That only shows the refresh rate, not resolution
I just found out the 6 ain't coming to the US.
Do you know if it is region locked?
Wondering if I can import, not sure if it will function properly here In the states.
Having the 1 V for six weeks right now and i'm still happy with it. And i don't have any thoughts or feelings that i'm heavily missing out with not having the 1 VI. This new 1 VI phone has only two things that i like, the screen is a bit brighter and a little bit more optical zoom to 170mm. But to be honest i have never experienced any trouble with the brightness of the screen of the 1 V. And cellphone camera's are not that great at all with zooming in way too far. They don't offer the same quality as a Sony mirrorless camera with a G- or G-Master series lens. So why should i worry at all??
Does the Mark V overheat? I have the Mark IV and it does overheat but I heard that with the Mark V Sony managed to improve heat dissipation
@@raul.flores18 i have never experienced any overheating situations with my 1 V but to be honest i also don't have any experience with 1 IV. So i can't compare these phones with each other.
I have the Xperia 1V and it doesn't heat at all under any condition, yes the 1 IV used to overheat.
@@raul.flores18No overheating issues at all
@raul.flores18 No. I have 1V. This problem is solved.
When should I buy the Sony 1 V ?
I don't understand. You are talking about hoping for the consolidation of 3 photo apps on the 1 V, like the1 VI has done.
When would this happen? And how would this happen? Are you saying that those that own the 1 V would automatically receive this updated app? Or should I wait on buying the 1 V until after this update.
Should I wait a while for any updates on the Xperia 1 V or is it OK to go ahead and buy the 1 V today?
Thank you.
P.S. The main reason I am leaving Samsung and going to Sony is the Expandable Memory and the Headphone Jack - there are no other Flagship alternatives. I believe I will be happy with Sony, just wondering when to buy. BTW - I will continue to use my Samsung S10, which is showing it's age including failing battery (replacing soon)/
I am looking to upgrade from the LG V60 and was thinking about getting the mark V but still haven't yet so 5 vs 6??? Can you help me get one the mark 5 didn't come to my country
If you want to import an Xperia i would recommend from Taiwan or Japan where you can get the Red 16gig ram 512 memory version and its sim free
Does the xperia vi come with a pre installed screen protector?
Hi my friend, could you pls do a comparison of 🔊 between mark VI vs V? I really want to know how interesting the speaker of VI?
When I get one
The mark 1 5 is getting updates to bring it line with new bug fixes, camera updates, and algorithm enhancements....actually really big steps forward and impressive. My biggest grip with android 14 is that photo recall is still via a search in storage and not in a photo album app. Best enhancements improvements on algorithms in auto or basic mode. Interest in improvements in photo apps and controllability, editing and new filter ranges. Battery life also is getting better.
I need an Xperia Pro E
E for Enthusiast, which would basically be a buffed 1 V with all the good things from the 1VI
There are some new rumors that they might come with a new pro at the end of this year and rename it as Xperia C, with a 2k screen and the 1 inch sensor but I'm not sure. I will get the 10 VI for now and then next year the 1 vii I guess, or the pro I just hope 21:9 comes back
I need adaptive refresh rate display, this is mein reason why I make upgrade from 1 V to 1 VI. And one app for photo/video that missing me.
It’s a nice upgrade
Phones today just have too few things that I really care about. After the snapdragon 845 or 855 i didn't care about speed anymore. What I wanted wafter that was at least 8GB of RAM. The Xperia 1V will be perfect for me for years to come. When I'm out and about I use in ear monitors and the Xperia powers those wonderfully. Would I have wanted more power like my LG phones had? Yes, but this is fine. My music player will have to handle the rest at home. Camera...I actually dont care for this but the Xperia 1V has changed my mind a bit in that department. I had a Pixel 7a before but I never liked the way it took pictures because it looked fake, especially at night. The Xperia looks more true to life for me. I have small hands but I like having a large phone. This aspect ratio is a great compromise. I'm sad to see it go. Overall Its great to have a Sony phone again since the Xperia Z1s. I'm sorry I waited this long. Oh, and I dont think the S24 Ultra should be the alternative to this phone. The sad truth is that I don't think there is one. Maybe the ROG Phone but without the camera chops? If you don't care for the camera aspect it ahould be good. I was debating between these 2.
It would have been an upgrade from my Xperia 5 iv, but I am importing one. I might go either Asus or OnePlus next year
Ordered the 1 mark 5 simply because it dropped to 1200 and the 1m6 doesn't have all the bands in the US for verizon.... its missing too many. so far the 1m5 is working flawlessly with verizon as it should. Hopefully in 3-5 years when this 1m5 dies or has issues, sony will have come back to the US market. i think its funny that they discounted the 10 mark 6 30% already according to this japanese twitter i happen to follow for sony news. maybe they shouldn't have ignored every market they pulled out from (so far, USA, China, and India they pulled out from)
I bought mine even for €1099 here in The Netherlands and just six weeks ago. That's also an advantage of not buying the latest and greatest. Previous models are getting cheaper and more affordable.
The 1 V doesn't have mmwave
I wanted to buy the I vi. But to my disappointment Sony isn't offering it in the US. I'm considering for the first time a Samsung s24 ultra vs the I vi. What's your thoughts
Get the VI. Or check other options like Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo or even Huawei.

There's a rumor a US variant of the VI is coming.
I have both the 5 for the 4k movies and the 6 for new things , you get a free headset with the 6 the same version given away last year with the 5
Another youtube channel said that Amazon was offering the xperia 6 for £1086 for a short while,if this was true, and i cannot think that it wasnt and ive never seen this before which makes me think that pre orders are not going well,im thinking of upgrading from my xperia 4 but, im not paying £1299 im more hopeful that the 6 will be down in price in a short while so im taking my time.
I don't understand the deal with the Sony experia, you mean to tell me that phone you've been using only supports HD? Why can't or won't Sony just make it a QHD+ display like Samsung? Samsung sells their panels right? Not being a smart A at all! I'm really Curious!

Samsung left me after the s3 s4 s7 s9 s10 when they cut out the sd card & phone jack. So, as long as there is a decent (and Sony is far more than "decent") alternative with these features, I am so done with Samsung. (I am going to get battery replacement this Christmas in Thailand)
I am dissapounted the Sony 1 VI (brighter screen & longer battery life) is not available as a USA version - and global was OK until USA corps (unlike other countries) dropped g2 & g3 & some of g4 bandwidths).
So I need a new USA version phone - and, with some dissapointment, I will buy Sony's older model Xperia 1 V.
And I am not alone in this. If there was any chance that Sony would repent and bring out a USA version, I would buy it. But maybe I wont be disappointed with the 1 V, and may even be extremely satisfied.
I have a feeling that they are going to announce the US version by next month bc Its on the list already. I don't believe its not coming to the US considering how much money they have spent for updating the Xperia and people still need a Sony based phone in order to perfectly control their other Sony products.
I just ordered (imported to the USA) the 256 GB model from a store in Ontario, Canada. I am willing to accept the FHD+ display for the upgraded speaker, SD card, headphone jack, and two-day battery life. This will be my first Sony phone, and I hope I like it.

Even if Xperia 1 V is wonderful, it has regressions compared to Xperia 1 III. The black parts in the screen are darker, notification led abandonment, zoom camera of Xperia 1 III has better color quality.
Since Android 14, Xperia 1 V screen doesn't support 4K.
I hope that this 21/9 4k screen will come back With Xperia Pro i III.
We could wait for the Xperia Pro II but Sony needs to get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for that model because its price point will be up there.
Welcome back SONY!
After using many previous Xperia phones, I can say they nailed it for the first time in every aspect!
Don't be surprised if I say the best features I like about the Xperia 1 vi are the FHD+ and most importantly is the 19.5:9 display ratio. I trust my eyes more when it comes to the visual image, and from my eyes point of view, the Xperia 1 vi display looks clearer than Xperia 1 v according to what I see in the comparison reviews. when it comes to specifications, I care much more about the 120Hz refresh rate and the touching 240 sample rate for easy browsing.
Regarding the display ratio 19.5:9, for me the 21:9 was just too narrow, especially when I was typing it was just too narrow for my fingers, that's the only thing stopped me from buying the Xperia 1 v, the I Phone 12 pro max were much better for typing but the issue was while holding them for browsing or using social media apps, they were too much wide for one hand handle. For me it seems the width of Xperia 1 vi with 74mm almost the perfect.
If abolishing the 4K screen will give the best introduction for LTPO and the best performance of battery life compared to the other giants (Iphone, Samsung and Huawei), which it looks it does with the Active use score of 17:27h, then welldone!
What I wanted from an optimum phone is (elegant looks, great battery, great sound, perfect size, thin bezels without a hole on screen, stunning camera for special moments).
So hyped about the black xperia 1 vi, can't wait to have one!
Probably the Xperia Pro-C will not come to US either?

I have Sony 1 V while taking video easily it gets overheating & shut down the camera! really bad
Did Sony ever made a feature drop for the older generation Xperia phones? I can't remember. So i think we will never get the new CameraApp for the MKV. Will never wait for this...they always disappointed me with feature drops since the XZ Premium, over the XZ2P, MKI, III and now the V. If it comes, it comes...but i don't expect it. Just self-protection not to be disappointed again.
😂😂😂 not with their dismal OS support, no
No. XZ Premium at least got 3D creator with the Oreo update, but that’s because it shares the same Snapdragon 835 with the XZ1. But it seems Sony won’t add new feature to phones of the same generation now. They did not even give the 1V the 2X crop from the 5 V despite the fact that these phones use the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Exmor T main sensor. And for older generation Xperias, the last time they added new features to existing phones was in late 2018 when they brought 1080P 960fps slow mo to the XZ1. Sadly, they haven’t done that for their recent phones. The 1 III, for example, did not get video pro. And the 1 IV did not get vertical photo pro and creative look. So don’t expect Sony to bring anything new or exciting to the V with the Android 15 update.
The bokeh mode was given to xperia 1 v after update

After seeing the Xperia 1 VI’s downgrade in resolution, I’m in two minds. I’m a current owner of a 15 pro max and really wanted to jump back over to android and where better than back to Sony. They have added Bravia tech, LTPO 1-120hz and higher brightness, I’m just wondering if these justify the drop to FHD+ and at that price?! Everything else I absolutely love.

I think that better cooling is really needed and it will be a significant improvement, it is one of the reasons why I change my mk.V to VI, playing on V is like burning your hand, just 10 minutes of COD Warzone and it is "hot" like a hot plate. FPS will drop drastically and it's not a great experience at all. NO, I have the Xperia 1V and we DON'T WANT the new stupid app, I like the three apps that are light years ahead of everything else, if it comes down to it, I won't update to Android 15 to keep the three apps, stop spreading BS, In the basic mode you can shoot photos and videos from the same app with all the options you want, you don’t HAVE TO go to the video pro app to record videos, the reason I bought the Xperia 1V is those camera apps, if I wanted an app that looks like Samsung or Apple I would have bought those...
