Would Doleman gate be a good addition into this due to the need for attacking?

majority of the pirates have evasion, either flying or menace so dolmen gate is not that useful on this deck we found

What do you think about niv-mizzet and more curiosity type effects in the deck?

It's "good" yah I just wanted to play pirates only, If I was going to play Niv I would just do a Niv deck I think, since the video I changed the deck a little bit if you check the link
