      @@smurvje I haven't been on a lot of fairs but I've ridden these once or twice and they're pretty fun, you get like floater airtime but standing with no restrains, and it's fun when you hang onto the ceiling bars. • @jonathonfreeman9233
    @jonathonfreeman9233 Před 3 lety +115

    The tweety escape is definitely an example where theming and immersion wins out over literal-minded thrill-number-crunchers. ... mainly because you have to view it from the kid's perspective.
    - So you could either go on one of the other kid-rides at the park that are clones of other similar "go around the center post" rides with a looney toons mascot stapled on it (honestly not memorable ... maybe they had a taz devil ride with jeeps? can't remember)
    OR
    - you could hop in a bird cage in a ride called Tweety Bird's Escape, and pretend like Sylvester was gonna get you and you were escaping
    In a literal-minded sense, yeah it's weird. From a kid's perspective - yeah of course the bird cage ride's a winner.

The only difference I can see is that the Solar Flare had the standup ride config at both ends and had more standard seating at all the other positions. Yay, another ride i;ve ridden on a list. I've been on Slammer at Thorpe park and yeah, i visited the park maybe 5 times in the 2 years the ride was open and it was only operating once when i was there. I still had to ride it though and honestly, was a hell of an intense experience, would love that ride design to make a comeback if it could be made more reliable.

    I was lucky another to go on The Slammer (Sky Swat) in Thorpe Park a few years back. Nearly everytime I went to the park the ride would be closed. I was lucky enough to make it on one time though! I must say, as fun and as unique as it is, it is one of the most uncomfortable rides i have ever experienced. Im glad I got to ride it, but man I would never ride it again

    Wow, I remember the tumbler. It was at Astroland in Coney Island Brooklyn. I was just a kid at the time, but I remember standing there and watching it with my father. Forgot what year that was, but it wasn't there long. It was close to the diving bells that they had there if anyone remembers.

    the rodeo is actually an insanely fun flat ride, it is very common in spain
    an i have also ridden the alcatraz, you have to hold on tight in that thing, othrewise you will go from side to side agressively. it also gives airtime at the peak

    In the early '60s, when I was a kid, a carnival came to the Harundale Mall, (Glen Burnie, Md.), parking lot with some strange flat rides I had never seen before or since. I do remember one with cages 2 riders could stand in and make swing from side to side until it would swing over the top, staying upright. Very strange and fun!
