Weird fact of the day: The actors who played Dodger and Tangerine were actually dating before the movie came out and broke up during production.
It's another confirmation that this movie destroys everything it touches, but also makes that whole arc even more uncomfortable to watch.
They were only 1 year apart in age so it's not weird that they were dating.
@@ukmedicfrcs The age difference isn't the weird thing I'm talking about (as you said, they were only a year apart), what made it uncomfortable is 1) you know those two were actually a thing and broke up during production, which is awkward context to have and 2) they were pretty much the same age, yet the movie decides to make the actors behave in a way that makes Tangerine seem much older and Dodger seem younger, so all of the flirtatious scenes now look like an older teen flirting with a child rather than two people a year apart. Blend that with the weird casting of Tangerine's friends and the choice to keep their ages vague and it's like they went out of their way to make it look creepy on purpose. It's just a bizarre choice.

I just realized, this movie, was the 80's version.... of the emoji movie. Two pieces of pop-culture that had absolutely no character, meaning or purpose that was executed lazily in an attempt to make money.
At least the Emoji Movie had passable animation instead of abominable puppets, and didn't have nearly as much gross-out humor. Instead it's a soulless, corporate piece of shit.

I never said I wanted to get rid of them. In fact I'm a firm believer that prohibiting something does not always help. I don't know what the solution is, really, and my frustration comes more from the fact that people in charge seemingly do, well, not a lot to help!

the reason why the kid said that was specifically *because* how she treated them. Her personality was ugly so he didn't find her attractive anymore, that guy near the start gives a speech about how true ugliness is hatred and what not, so I think he was referencing that when he said it.

I actually can find one positive aspect about this movie: Mackenzie Astin and Anthony Newley as Dodger and Manzini respectively. They are the only two people in this movie that are actually trying.

Obviously the more users vote on a movie, the closer to the middle it will be, since it's always likely that there will be people who enjoy the movie.
So Jurassic Shark has, relatively, a few people voting on it, and that's how its rating averages out to it. If more people voted, it would likely be much higher.

Not that I'm trying to defend this awfulness, but I have to imagine the 'I don't think you're pretty anymore' bit was supposed to be a moral thing. Like the kid's trying to say she's not pretty _on_ _the_ _inside_. By making the Garbage Pail Kids good guys, and the pretty girl a bad person, they're obviously setting up a 'don't just people based on how they look' theme, but I guess they dropped the fucking ball and it doesn't come through at all.

@AcidDome Wow, ok. If you are trying to bait an argument out of me, this isn't going to go the way you would think. First off, good use of multiple ad hominem to try to build up your argument. For the record, my daughter is actually involved in a vaccine study test, and will be receiving a second dose next week. Furthermore, my wife and I have both an education and work experience in the medical field. I've had a long standing interest in aviation, rocketry, and space exploration. I, mean, I had a poster of a Saturn V diagram on my door as a kid, and dreamed of building my own rocket.
Another bit of information, I was tested in school to have a fairly good memory. Please remember that this was nearly thirty years ago, and testing methods have changed. When tested, I was asked to explain several images I saw very briefly, a few days later. I was able to recall with a greater than 90% accuracy of detail. I can still recall alot of detail from moments in my life, such as times a stayed with friends only once. When you are tested and receive results like that, it was usually just a blanket term to refer to the testee as having, "A photographic memory." My best friend was tested as well and also had the near same results as me, being said his memory was photographic. He would never describe himself as being able to recall an image of a scene after having seen something. His memory excelled though in numbers. If you called him a human calculator, that would be a disservice to his mathematical ability. He always attributed this to never forgetting a math equation, and having an ability to recall and tweak previous solved problems. I do not doubt that the term, "Photographic memory," is too broad of a definition. I've experienced that first hand. But I still use the term since it's easily understood by most people. And too be fair, due to recollection of details, what I imagine in my head when recalling a memory, can be nearly an identical image.
The brain is a complex organ, that may never be completely understood. Our understanding of it is always changing and new classifications and terminology are always being added to the lexicon of medical understanding.

Watched the movie right around the same time as Howard the Duck.

I'm slighly surprised you didn't point out the artistic merit in these GPK stickers. They are brilliant paintings with great colors and compositions. This is the kind of thing we don't get to have anymore, there aren't many people who can even paint like that around.
As much as I like Campy,Cheesy and over the top stuff from the 1980's and 1990's with stuff like Thundercats and Masters of The Universe. This however was to much...I can see why this was pulled from Cinemas.

James's _Fifty Shades of Grey_ didn't make her book seem like a cultish sort of thing on purpose. She wrote it as a way to fulfill her own fantasies about Twilight, and made a dick load of money.

DarkVenom Pretty much. I haven't seen the film, but I feel like the book would be much worse because of how poorly written the book is and because of how bad Ana's narration is throughout the book. Whereas with the film people probably edited and cleaned it up a bit...At least I hope they did.
But it all depends, some hate the film more than the book because they realize how bad it is and how much money it's going to make, and that makes them want to fucking die because a terrible book like that got a film and it got more attention than any hard working individual/great book/film/etc. ever will.

I'm not defending this movie by any means, but I think when Dodger said "he didn't find Tangerine pretty anymore," it wasn't that he didn't find her physically attractive, it's just that he saw her for the monster she truly was.
I think that's giving the writer of the script too much credit for actually using a metaphorical choice of words. This is a movie that relies on obscene bodily functions for comedy, remember?

I remember seeing this in my 1st grade classroom. It took us 2-3 days to finish it. And we were all disgusted. To make things worse, after that was over, I had nightmares that lasted a few days.
When Dodger said, "[he] [didn't] find [her] pretty anymore", it was not meant to be taken literally, but figuratively. An indicator of this is that the girl's physical beauty and Dodger's standards for physical beauty, like many peoples', are assumed to be static throughout the whole movie.
This means that he had an epiphany on the value of mental attributes as opposed to physical ones. The theme of the movie is clear: don't be superficial and instead value morals and ethics over looks.
Look, don't defend this movie.

I read about what the original premise was going to be one time, the beginning was going to start off like the opening scene from "Night of the Creeps", where aliens accidentally drop their secret weapon/mistake onto Earth. Well there was going to be green slime that drops to Earth into a garbage bin of broken doll parts who form these creatures.
To quote Doug Walker:
"YOU KNOW, FOR KIDS!"
I think i'm going to make rewriting this movie be one of my projects for this year, and make it into a at least decent script.
